Will Give Befitting Reply If BJP Members Attack Congress Activists – Pramod Madhwaraj

Udupi: Former Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj has given a clear warning to the BJP that if anyone tries to attack Congress activists, he will not remain silent.

Addressing the party workers at the Congress Bhavan on Saturday, Madhwaraj said that the party lost the assembly elections in Udupi. “BJP workers have started to assault our activists which shows their culture. When I was a part of the legislature of the constituency for five years, I did not give a single chance for an attack on the BJP workers in my constituency. But the present BJP MLA is personally encouraging his party workers to attack Congress activists. If such incidents are repeated in the future, I would personally lead the protest in front of the concerned police station,” said Madhwaraj.

Talking about the election results, he said that the Congress party had not expected such results in the elections in Udupi. He said, “We did our duty efficiently, but the people of Udupi rejected us. In a democracy, people are the real owners; they have all right to elect or reject us. People have not supported the development work we have done; if they had, then all three previous sitting MLAs, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Gopal Poojary and me, should have won the elections.”

He further said, “It is my duty to thank our party workers for the honest work they did during the elections. After the election results, I went to Bangalore to meet Siddaramaiah and thanked him on behalf of the Udupi Congress workers. He had granted crores of rupees whenever I had asked him for the development of the constituency. It is our boon that we had such a good Chief Minister.”

“The win of false propaganda will not be permanent. BJP MLA Raghupati Bhat had made false allegations against me and won the elections. The people of Udupi are intelligent; false allegations will not stand for long. B S Yeddyurappa is the best example for this and that has been proved today,” he said.

Madhwaraj also said that the newly elected BJP MLA Raghupathi Bhat had made several assurances during the elections. “He has said that the sand issue would be resolved within a month of being elected as the legislator. If they fail to resolve it, we will protest against him. The Congress government has initiated various developmental works in Udupi and it is the responsibility of the new MLAs to complete all of them,” he said pertaining to the development works initiated by the previous administration.

Madhwaraj concluded saying that in two or three days, the Congress and the JD(S) will form a coalition government and that it required activists to work for the people. “I am also going to spend more time in the service of the people. Workers should do the work of serving people at the government offices. The next step is to give the BJP the answer by winning the municipal and parliamentary elections,” he added.

MLC candidate Dinesh, District Congress president Janardhan Tonse, vice president Prakyath Shetty, CMC president Meenakshi Madhava, AICC member Amrith Shenoy, Congress leaders Janardhan Bhandarkar, Kishan Hegde and others were present.

Pamma can still become a minister. He can become an MLC.
Alternatively he can contest for Lok Sabha next year.
