Zurich, May 30 (IANS) Re-elected FIFA president Sepp Blatter has said he will not forget how the Michel Platini-led Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) created a campaign of hatred against him in his time of crisis.
“It’s hatred, coming not only from one person at UEFA but the organisation, who were not involved in 1998 when I became president. I forgive everyone, but I do not forget,” Blatter was quoted as saying by goal.com on Saturday.
After a week which witnessed some of the top FIFA officials being arrested for corruption charges, Blatter was elected for his fifth consecutive term in office, at the helm of football’s world governing body after getting past the challenge of Prince Ali bin al-Hussein of Jordan.
On Thursday, Platini had asked the 79-year-old to step down and had urged UEFA member associations not to vote for Blatter in the presidential election.
