Will reopen cases in which Congress leaders got clean chit: Yeddyurappa

Bengaluru: BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa on Sunday said that his party would reopen all cases wherein “clean chit” has been given to Congress leaders by the Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) and other investigating agencies.

Speaking at a well-attended Nava Karnataka Nirmana Parivarthana Yatra at JP Nagar in Bengaluru, Yeddyurappa said the government was misusing the ACB and the CID to give clean chits to Congress leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and at the same time registering false cases against leaders of rival parties.

“As soon as the BJP comes to power, we will order review of all cases where clean chits have been given and order reinvestigation. We will send the Congress leaders to where they belong,” Yeddyurappa said.

He said while Congress claimed BJP was a jail and bail party, its own leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Oscar Fernandes were moving around after securing bail.
He said the children of Congress leaders were activately involved in the sand mafia.

“Sand is being imported from Malaysia on the pretext on meeting the demand, by paying exorbitant rates,” he said.

He blamed the Siddaramaiah government for turning Bengaluru into a “nightmare city” . “Bengaluru has become the number-one rape city in the country. Mumbai has double the population of Bengaluru, but has a lower crime rate. We will change all that after coming to power. We will create a Nava Bengaluru,” the BJP leader said.

He charged that the government had plunged the state into a debt trap with borrowings touching Rs 1.48 lakh crore during the last four years. “The government is hoodwinking the people by announcing projects worth hundreds of crores. But where is the money?” he said.

Lesson learnt

The BJP, meanwhile, seems to have learnt a lesson from the embarrassment it faced last month in the state capital during the launch of the yatra due to poor turnout. On Sunday, the party had made sure the venue was a full house. There was shelter for everyone as ‘shamiyana’ had been erected.

Traffic hit

Traffic movement was affected in and around RBI Layout grounds in JP Nagar, the venue of the convention. Transport arrangements had been made from Bommannahalli, Anekal among other areas to ferry those attending the convention.

Yeddy has not learnt a thing from his mistakes. What are his priorities? Trying to sue his political opponents or give good governance? I feel sorry for our people. It is either the corrupt Congress or BJP headed by this man with a pediatric IQ.
