With 100% Attendance in the Council, MLC Ivan D’souza Completes His 6 Years Tenure- and Now Onwards will continue to lawyer practice, serve the community and also help the needy at individual capacity, and work hard to build the Congress Party in Karnataka State
Mangaluru: It was indeed a long journey of six years serving as a member of Karnataka Legislative Council, and on Tuesday, 23 June 2020, Congress leader and MLC Ivan D’souza said Goodbye to that post, and will in future concentrate on lawyer practice, and will also serve the community and the needy on his individual capacity, and work hard to build the Congress Party in Karnataka State.
During his final meeting at his MLC office located inside the MCC building, MLC Ivan D’souza addressing the media persons said, ” I am overwhelmed to say that I have successfully fulfilled my duties as the chief whip of the government in the council and also as the parliamentary secretary to revenue department in Siddaramaiah and H D Kumaraswamy governments, respectively. I’m one among the three MLCs who have 100% attendance in the council. Meanwhile, I’m the only council member to utilise the privilege of raising five questions in each session. I brought several major issues to the government through the questions and succeeded in finding solutions to the problems of people”

He further said, “During my six years of tenure as a council member, I was able to bring sanctions to the tune of Rs 46 crore through various departments. Meanwhile, financial aid to the tune of Rs 13.24 crore has been distributed through Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to nearly 1,600 beneficiaries. I will continue to serve the poor on my own as an individual. For this, I have set up an office in the premises of my house. And also recently I distributed grocery kits and other essential items to over 18,000 families during the lockdown period”.
It is learnt that the Office inside the MCC building will be handed over to JD(S) MLC S L Boje Gowda.

Mr. Ivan D Souza is one of the best MLC who has taken up issues related to the poor people as well as children’s health and education. He was vocal in raising questions on Malnutrition, Preschool education in Anganwadis, demanding good infrastructure for schools, quality of mid day meals, learning outcomes in schools. He was instrumental in organizing ‘South India Legislators conclave on Child Rights and Sustainable Development Goals’ in Bangalore, one of the best legislators conclave where every MLA spoke in favor of education and Nutrition. He must be elected again to serve the community.
