With Clapping, Bell Ringing, Udupi Unites to Thank Coronavirus Fighters

Udupi: In a first of its kind, religious leaders, politicians and common people across Udupi district came together to thank the coronavirus warriors and other essential service providers to contain the spread of the epidemic.

The largest public gathering in the district witnessed clapping and beating utensils at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22 as called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation on Thursday, March 19.

Citizens across the district came out of their homes and in their balconies, clapping, beating utensils and even ringing bells as a mark of solidarity with health officials and emergency workers who are working tirelessly in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak.

The Prime Minister had called upon the people to clap or beat utensils for 5 minutes to express their gratitude to the people providing essential services, including sanitation employees, medical professionals, delivery boys, railways, airports and other transportation department employees and many more, who were serving without caring for their own comfort and safety to contain the spread of coronavirus.
