The ceremony began with a prayer, followed by welcome address by Dr Sudarshan Pai-Staff Adviser Magazine Committee 2017-18. The programme was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by the Chief guest Ms Vidya Shenoy-President of Port Town Advanced Toastmasters Club, along with other dignitaries on the dais, namely Fr Richard Coelho- Director, FMCI; Fr Ajith Menezes and Fr Rudolph D’sa- both Administrators, Fr Muller’s; Dr J P Alva- Dean and Dr Sudarshan U Pai.
After the official release of the Muller Pulse 2018 which was done in a unique way by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries on the dais, the Chief Guest Ms Vidya Shenoy addressing the audience said, “Endeavors like ‘Mullerpulse’ will hopefully pave the way for some budding writers from Father Muller Medical College to pen enriching writing that will make a difference. Being the President of Port Town Toastmasters Club, I suggest that FMMC also starts a First of its kind toastmasters club, and me and my club members will come here and demonstrate to show you all how it works. Happy to note that in an era of Internet, whatsapp, twitter etc, it’s nice to note FMMC has brought a unique magazine filled with great stories and sweet memories of happenings in the campus”.
Ms Shenoy further said, “A college magazine is a compendium of the thoughts and aspirations of its students. Even more than that a magazine embodies the literary soul of an institution. Doctors are uniquely positioned to write well. They have the benefit of a good education, they have a huge fount of life-changing experiences, they have also a philosophical bent of mind being up close and personal with death and morbidity. I am overwhelmed to be here for the launching of Mullerpulse, and I hope the magazine will continue to come out every year. Good luck”.
Fr Richard Coelho in his presidential address said, “Mullerpulse sometimes may become impulse too. Because to bring out such a huge volume of magazine students might have gone through lot of impulse. I see many students come for this function wearing glittering jewellery and shiny clothes. You have all come with smiles, jewellery and confidence for this magazine release ceremony. Nothing can be achieved without dream-0 and today’s release of Mullerpulse has become a dream come true for many. Its creativity, not biological ??, but scientific creativity has made the magazine unique. It is indeed a creativity of the entire editorial team headed by Ms Savitri Kini. Imagination is also important. So with Dreams, Creativity and Imagination we have brought out Mullerpulse, which is something great and amazing. Great job!”
While expressing her gratefulness to all who helped her in bringing out the Mullerpulse, editor Ms Savitri Kini said, “Dreams are necessary. Always believe in dreaming big. With hard work, perseverance and self-belief, there is no limit to what you can achieve. Being a part of this magazine was indeed a dream come true for me. Also with the support of the editorial team, it was only because of them this DREAM has turned into a REALITY. Mullerpulse is not merely a tool of recreation, but rather, a platform to express. I am awed by the sheer number of articles that have come pouring in, and I hope you all will enjoy reading them as much as we enjoyed creating it. And always remember that if your dreams don’t scare you then they are not big enough. So DREAM BIG, work hard, stay focused and always surround yourself with people who believe in you and empower your dreams. I am a girl with a million dreams but falls asleep in class?”
The programme was compered by Ms Sanjana Mathews and Ms Irene M Mathews, both IIIrd year MBB S students.
