With Ramble, Rants & Muses Leila Alvares Book ‘Once Upon A Lifetime’ launched for Good C.A.U.S.E

Filled with Ramble, Rants & Muses Leila Alvares Book ‘Once Upon A Lifetime’ launched on Sunday, 10 February 2019 at Mangalore Club is for the C.A.U.S.E Foundation, where the proceeds of the sales of her book are towards the rehabilitation of the recent flood victims (both human and animal) of Kodagu.

“Conversational, where the flow leads you to the next chapter with ease. Witty, where the emotion demands it. Upfront, where the sense matures into sensibility. Once Upon A Lifetime is a work of introspection, as much as it is an extrapolation of Leila Alvares’ not so ordinary life!” – Review on the Book by Nirmala Govindarajan (Journalist/Author/Documentarian)

Mangaluru: Once Upon A Lifetime is an honest and courageous look at life in particular, and our times in general. Thought provoking and instructional, and written in a self-deprecating humorous style, it offers hope to those dissatisfied or disillusioned with their current circumstances. As author Ms Leila Alvares puts it, “I am just as uniquely ordinary as the next person and if I can do this, anyone can. You just have to go after whatever you want with single-minded determination.”

The Rambles are a frank and poignant narrative of Alvares’ personal life and contain many life lessons for all of us. The Rants – are Alvares boldly telling it like it is. Though seemingly controversial at times they are nevertheless a succinct commentary of our times while urging us to be the change we wish to see. The Muses are interesting, inspirational and promise to be scrumptious! A busy single mum, Alvares shows us how to take common classic recipes and turn them into a variety of delicious preparations. Once Upon A Lifetime truly has something for everyone!

LEILA ALVARES is a well-known director of Broadway musicals, and for the past 20 years, has traveled with her cast to various cities in India enthralling audiences with their delightful performances. The Founder-Director of The CAUSE Foundation, she has been involved with all things musical from a very young age while simultaneously giving back to the community. Besides her annual musical productions, Ms Leila concurrently runs a Homestay on her plantation in Coorg where she lives with her two children-Kieren and Keira, their seven dogs, a cat and a family of swallow!

Once Upon A Lifetime is her first book. Ms Alvares donated Rs. One lakh from the proceeds of the sales of her book towards the rehabilitation of the recent flood victims (both human and animal) of Kodagu. She will continue to donate a percentage of the sales of the book. Book was launched by Mangaluru’s macho & handsome twins Peter & Paul Mascarenhas, both reputed architects on Sunday, 10 February 2019 at Mangalore Club for the C.A.U.S.E Foundation, where the proceeds of the sales of her book are towards the rehabilitation of the recent flood victims (both human and animal) of Kodagu. Mrs Loretta Rebello introduced the Author; Ms Nayana Fernandes Britto and Kieren Alvares Lynn read reviews about the book; Mrs Ramona Mathias gave her review on the book – in verse! and Dr Ajay Kamath compered the book launching programme very professionally and his unique style.

The author has dedicated the Book to her Children Kieren and Keira, whose existence made it a necessity; to her father-the late Capt Kieren Alvares whose encouragement made it a possibility; and to the God of her understanding whose inspiration made it a reality. In her kind words of appreciation, Ms Leila has expressed her gratitude to the UNIVERSE, for sending her the right people at the right time and whose various experiences gave her the determination and courage to publish the Book on her home.

And to all of you who’ll buy the book and read it, author Ms Leila Alvares says, “For doing so in the right spirit that it was written and extending to me the courtesy that Evelyn Beatrice Hall (paraphrasing Voltaire) said, “I (may) disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”. Happy Reading!” A review on the Book by Nirmala Govindarajan (Journalist/Author/Documentarian) where she says, “Conversational, where the flow leads you to the next chapter with ease. Witty, where the emotion demands it. Upfront, where the sense matures into sensibility. Once Upon A Lifetime is a work of introspection, as much as it is an extrapolation of Leila Alvares’ not so ordinary life!”
