With Theme ‘You Can Save Life Anywhere’ KMC Hospital marks ‘World Ambulance Day’

Mangaluru: KMC Hospital, Mangaluru on 8 January 2019 organized ‘You Can Save Life Anywhere’ campaign in the city to mark World Ambulance Day. Aimed at creating awareness, the campaign will train general public with life saving techniques of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, Speaking on the occasion, Saghir Siddiqui – Regional COO, KMC Hospitals. said, “A lot of people are seen losing their lives in road traffic accidents and ambulances play an important role in saving their lives. However, ambulances are seen ignored by people not paving way for them. It is extremely important to sensitize people on how critical it is to give way to an ambulance and if people understand this, then half the battle is won. The rationale behind organizing this campaign is to promote and educate the public on the importance of the golden hour as well as to tell them how essential it is to give way for an ambulance. In order for the same, Manipal Hospitals through this campaigns planned to train general public the usage of handy life saving techniques like CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)”

He further said, “Manipal Ambulance Response Service (MARS) was launched in 2015 and since its inception, it has been ensuring the best outcomes in terms of saving lives and bringing smiles back on the faces of its patients and their loved ones. Enabled with GPS based live vehicle tracking system and equipped with critical lifesaving equipment’s, the ambulance is also equipped with Central Monitoring System, which relays images of patient condition direct to Emergency Response Centre. The state-of-the technology enables the ambulance to deal with any kind of crucial emergencies”.

Also speaking on the occasion Dr Jeedhu Radhakrishnan – Emergency Medicine Specialist, KMC Hospitals said, “Certain situations in life requires immediate medical care and a fraction of second delay can drastically change somebody’s life. It is essential for each and every one of us to know the importance of ambulances and the role they play in saving lives. To increase our effort in increasing awareness about golden hour and to empower public with basic life support techniques, we will be providing CPR training for Police Department, Journalist Union, Corporates, Schools etc in the coming days ahead.”
