Women Pickpockets arrested at Kankanady
Mangaluru: Three women were taken into custody by the Kadri police when they were caught red-handed in the process of pickpocketing at Kankanady here, on November 25.
All the three women pickpockets are natives of Maharashtra. According to the police, they were targeting a woman who was waiting at the bus stop to board the bus. When she was checking money in her purse for the bus ticket, one of them approached her begging for money. At the same time, another woman tried to snatch the purse from her hand. The woman immediately screamed for help. The people nearby rushed to her help and caught hold of two women while three others fled from the spot.
The people immediately informed the police. The Kadri police reached the spot and took the women into custody. Later, they caught hold of another from the group in the area.
It is learnt that a group of five pickpockets roam around the Kankanady area, looking out for soft targets.
A case has been registered in the Kadri police station. The three women will be produced before the court. Search is on for the other two.
