Mangaluru: The spectacular Shobhayatra of Goddess Sharada began from the Kudroli Temple as the procession of the Navadurge’s and Lord Ganesha, worshiped at the Shobhayatra, on September 30.
The procession began at 4:45 pm. The Kudroli temple procession has been dubbed as the second best in the state and has truly stood up to its reputation from many years and was a grand affair this year too.
Devotees Throng City Streets for Glimpse of Idols of Goddess Sri Sharada, Navadurges and Lord Ganesha.
The Shobhayatra began soon after performing the Puja of Lord Ganesha and carrying Lord Ganesh in the procession followed by the Navadurge’s.
Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader, MLA J R Lobo, Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza and others who have worked relentlessly for the success of the programme were felicitated by Janardhan Poojary. Former minister in-charge Krishna J Palemar’s absence for the programme in spite of an invitation saddened Poojary as Palemar’s residence was not far from the Temple and he had a special connection with the Temple.
Addressing the gathering Janardhan Poojary said, “We make mistakes and I too have made mistakes. There is no one in this world who does not make mistakes. I tell everyone, whenever someone makes a mistake we should forgive him/her. A woman has been hurt in the Brahmashree Narayana Guru Temple. We need to respect women as our own mothers. In the Billawa community, women should not be discriminated. Many women are present in this temple and we need to respect them. There should be no discrimination against women, they should be respected well in this temple.”
Speaking to Mangalorean.com, MLA J R Lobo said, “In the Kudroli temple, the Mangaluru Dasara Shobhayatra celebrations are going on. The procession began after the Puja. From the past 27 years, the Dasara celebrations are going on in Kudroli Temple. After Mysuru, the Dasara celebrated in Mangaluru is the second largest in the state. I congratulate Janardhan Poojary and all the temple trustees for organizing the Dasara celebrations in a grand manner. It is a proud programme and people from various states and other countries come here to witness the Dasara”.
MLA Lobo further said, “Poojary has also announced two funds, the Health fund and the Education fund. I will try my best to help for both the funds. To make the Dasara celebrations so popular, Janardhan Poojary has worked very hard. Janardhan Poojary’s health is not so good, I pray to God to give him good health so that he can live long to celebrate Dasara under his leadership every year. I wish all the people of the state a happy Dasara.”
The grand Shobhayatra will come to an end on October 1 early morning at around 5:00 am at the temple premises after passing through several parts of the city like Kudroli – Kambla – Mannagudda – Ladyhill – Lal Bagh – Ballal Bagh – PVS – Navabharat circle – K S Rao Road – Hampankatta – Mohini Vilas – Car Street – Balaji – New Chitra – Alake Bridge and back to Kudroli.
Politics should not be above a friendly invitation. Palemar should have attended. He will do well to send a personal apology to Mr Poojary. He can also visit the temple and put tappu kaanike and pray for forgivance from maata durga who will forgive his indiscretion.
