Changzhou (China), Sep 2 (IANS) Indian junior women’s team midfielder Navjot Kaur said on Wednesday that the Asia Cup where the side will take part is very important as it gives an opportunity to qualify for the 2016 Junior World Cup.
“The tournament is very important for us as this will give us an opportunity for qualification for the 2016 Junior World Cup. Every team member is aware of her responsibility and ensures to perform to the best of her abilities,” said vice-captain Navjot.
India will open against North Korea in the nine-team tournament that will be held here from September 5 to 13.
“Being a midfielder, I have to be more active and fit to support both the defence-line as well as forward players. I am working on implementation of the team strategies on the field and play according to our game plan. The team is also planning to focus on coverage of the ground as well as trying to keep the ball possession on our side,” added the 20-year-old Navjot.
