Workplace Motivation Key to Organization’s Success – Dr Ravindranath Nayak, Director, School of Management, Manipal University

Moodbidri: “A typical workplace consists of different types of people. Workplace motivation depends on adjusting with different set of people. Theories of motivation help us in understanding human nature and its intricacies”, stated Dr Ravindranath Nayak, Director, School of Management, Manipal University.

Human beings are driven by needs. There is the need for achievement, need for power and need for affiliation. Human actions are governed by these needs, said Dr Ravindranath.

Urging students to be more socially oriented in their approach, Dr Ravindranath said social power makes people more responsible. Social power should be used in a positive way to uplift society. Most employees require impetus to feel good about their jobs and perform optimally. Some employees are money motivated while others find appreciation and rewards personally motivating. Motivation levels within the workplace have a direct impact on employee productivity, he added.

Dean MBA, Prof P Ramakrishna Chadaga, in his introductory remark, appealed students to develop skills for the modern day corporate world. He felicitated the resource person after the session. Event coordinators Dr Nagendra, Prof Gurudatt Somayaji and others were present on the occasion.

Meghana Venkatesh compered the programme and Soumyashree Bhat introduced the guests. Mayur delivered the vote of thanks.
