World Environment Day 2018 at St Aloysius Hr Primary School
Mangaluru: World Environment Day is the biggest annual event for the positive action and takes place on 5th June every year. It has a special theme relating to environmental concern and to create “save the Environment” awareness. The theme for the year 2018 is ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ India is the host country for World Environment Day celebrations.
St. Aloysius College Higher Primary School Karangalpady Celebrated this day in a great way to create a little more green space in the world. The Chief guest Anantha Padmanabha Rao a retired Botany Professor from S.V.S College spoke about the environmental issues and how to preserve nature. He also imparted the knowledge about protecting lots of Environment Resources for our future use. He requested the students to concentrate on the Environmental activities and to keep the Environment good.
Fr Eric Mathias presented the chief guest with saplings. The Correspondent then interacted with the little Aloysians on the occasion. Nearly 150 enthusiastic students were given the saplings to plant successfully in their houses and in the school premises. The entire program was a call for all of us to take charge of our surroundings and realize the severity of using plastic in our daily life.
The Correspondent Fr Eric Mathias, Headmistress Philomena Lewis, the Vice President of the P.T.A Rekha Fernandes were present for the Programme. A drawing competition was conducted on the topic “Plastic-free Environment”.
