Young Woman’s Suicide Bid after Marriage Refusal
Kundapur: Seema (name changed), hailing from Melbavikatte in Gangolli, consumed phenyl and attempted to commit suicide on Sunday.
She is said to have been in love with Raghavendra of Gujjadi. He used to visit her house often.
On Sunday, she arrived at his house to ask him and his parents about the marriage proposal. He and his father are said to have abused and threatened her.
Hurt by this, she went home and consumed phenyl. She has been hospitalized in a serious state.
Based on her statement, her lover’s father has been arrested. Raghavendra has absconded soon thereafter.
The Gangolli police are investigating the case.
