True the tax payers money in other words is stolen. What the authorities should understand is we need qualified personnel who understand multi disciplinary engineering be given the work when we talk of smart physical infrastructure. Problem is same old contrators same old sub contractors who only know to finish the work as early as possible and get their bills cleared. No quality check no audit because even the client that is Government do not have such resources. Unless we have multi disciplinary engineering personnel on ground and government we cannot build a good physical infrastructure. To understand how call me on 7842048979. A person driving is not only focusing now on potholes and congested roads but also trying to avoid their tyre fall into 2 or 3 foot pits which have replaced footpaths beside the incomplete concrete roads. And god help the People walking on these roads. A Government must understand people’s concern else we’re heading nowhere as a developing nation

Which concrete road are you talking about? Its been more than 6 months since they have put stones on the road and it goes on for around 1 to 1 and half km, still they haven’t got time to complete it. I agree that it isn’t one of the busy roads but people do commute on it. Either complete the project or dont start it at all.

The elected representatives and Govt. Agencies like MCC Need to prioritise and coordinate while taking up various projects Even though people had great expectations from BJP there is no immediate improvement visible in the city infrastructure. Moreover, there is a tendency to leave many works half-finished which is all the more inconvenient. It is really painful to see that many speed-breakers (made of rubber)have vanished but there is no move to replace them. Finally kudos to Team Mangaluru for highlighting such issues.

Two years back a journalist put banners with the pothole photos along with the local MLA and the authorities immediately removed them. We should start putting such banners now along with the pothole and photo to show the development of our city. People plant trees and plants in these pits but the MCC is not ashamed.

It’s said that religion is the opiate of masses. Nothing can be further from the truth, than with life in India. We Indians have fed ourselves an opiate called religion where we have sacrificed our future and reputation for the sake of donning an ancient identity that the modern world doesn’t care much about, and never really did. There are absolutely no grounds to have confidence in the government at all. Civilian life has become absolutely sick. On the ground, people are behaving in such a disappointing manner. Spitting, littering and breaking traffic rules is the order of life here. If people are going to behave in such a manner, they can find no acceptance in the modern world that abhors this way of life. The very reason that students are compelled to learn vernacular languages in so much depth for decades at the cost of other subjects goes to show that Indians are obsessed with their identity. In fact, they seem to want to own public spaces that they have no ownership documents of. Except for Afghanistan, no where else in the world in recent times, has a place of worship called Babri Masjid been torn down and legalised with the able assistance of people in the government. This shows that our psyche hasn’t moved on from the medieval ages. One thing is for sure, one can’t expect the world to come to one’s feet, more than expecting the Himalayas to come down to the level of the Deccan Plateau. Expecting the world to come to one’s feet is therefore a fool’s errand. May I be proved wrong.

Please can someone educate me about what is unscientific about these speedbreakers. In my opinion the material used may have been substandard and of poor quality or that they were not maintained or replaced as required. Interested persons need to seek, under RTi, the T&C of the contract for these speedbreakers and the work orders. These speedbreakers are much more reasonably closer to common sense science than the mountains and mounds of tar and stone heaped on the roads in the name of “speed-breakers”.

Finally One Great Brave Lawyer came forward with Courage to File a Case against Mangalore City Corporation(MCC) This action was due for a long time. I wanted to do this few years back but due to certain reasons I could not proceed. Thanks to You Mr.Kumara Sathyanarayan on behalf of all Honest People of City. Your name itself says that You are Man of Sathya. I have spoken to many Officers including last 2 Mayors and Engineers but it was like pouring water on Rock where nothing grows. There are 2 large Humps are on PWD road between Neermarga-Merlapadavu which are death traps. I spoke to PDO of Neermarga and Their answer was that Panchayath Engineer built this stupid designed Concrete-interlock hump. I went to Bondel and met this un-qualified. He suggested that PDO reccomended. Then I met PWD Engineer and He told me that PDO did this project without the permission of PWD and they served the Notice to remove it. Now the Hump is becomimg death Ramp. PWD should send notice to Funeral Arrangers to keep ready. Already many 2 wheelers have fallen and soon someone will loose their life.

I don’t know whether I should be sad that the number of COVID cases in Karnataka are rising or happy that we are reporting high number of cases because we are testing. You will find new cases only if you test. the reason why some of the states have low cases could because they don’t test at all! No name taking here, please. But my main concern is what is happening after testing? Are contacts traced and offered testing or left to fend for themselves? Contact tracing, scrupulous hand hygiene, avoiding crowding, social distancing and self-isolation of symptomatic people – these are the only measures that seem to work along with early testing. WIll just early testing help Karnataka in overcoming this global pandemic? I doubt it.

Mr Alfie filing complaints with MCC is like pouring water on rock. Report to Traffic Police but they are scared to raise the issue due to Politicians. Mr Kamath MLA is worried more about Jumping from Ullal Bridge than other issues. If someone wants to die they can jump from Footpath in front of His office were depth is 109 inches(9ft) from footpath to Lower Level ground. He and other officials drive in front of Mangalore University hundreds of times towards Clock Tower to DC, DCP,SP, Mini Vidhana Souda,RTO,Forest and other offices. But NONE of them felt the effect of broken down plastic hump which is Life threatening in front of University. I have spoken to MCC and official requested me to contact Police. I have spoken to previous DC with photo during meeting but no result. Forget about the Humps,look at the DEATH openings on half done useless work of Mugrody Construction Company. Everywhere openings where Public can fall like letter in POST BOX. Steel Rods sticking out to kill the Public when they fall.

Fr Walter Andrade, A true Jesuit to the core, a great human being, down to earth, always concerned for the underprivileged. He led a very simple life, a person of great faith, was well read and could speak on any subject at length. We used to look forward to spending time with him be it in Mangalore or Bangalore, to us he was a guide and mentor who was very practical in his approach. Under his able leadership as the Principals of the prestigious St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, the institution got name and fame in Academics, Sports and other cultural activities. He was well loved by students and faculty, staff and all whom he interacted with. Despite his poor health he forged ahead and gave his 100 % to the institutions he was associated with & wanted to work till his last breath, unfortunately his failing eye sight was an impediment. A loss to the good Jesuit community, a personal loss to many of us, rest in peace dear Walty Padraab. Our condolences to the Jesuit community and his close relatives in India and abroad.

In my opinion, the city corporation should attend to the cleanliness clearing of garbage and maintenance of the road. This beautiful road was unimaginable a few years ago and it was only possible thanks to the effort of our previous MLA J.R. Lobo. If not, we would have the same old narrow road with landslides during monsoon.

Two years of my regular interaction with him at St. Aloysius College during my lunch breaks…….interesting discussions with him (along with my friend, who is now an Advocate Mr Melwyn Noronha)… learnt so much from him. Then I met him almost after 10 long years (along with Mr Robinson D’Souza, Former Principal Secretary, Karnataka Legislature) to meet him at St. Josephs and I was pleasantly surprised to know that he remembered me so well. Wonderful priest. May his soul rest in peace.

A very humble person who never misused his position and privilege. Attending an bible study conducted by him at a convent on Wheeler road. I remember an SUV parked in the portico before the start of the bible study. I presumed that Fr. Ronnie traveled in that monster. After the bible study was over and everyone left the place. I had some small talk with him and as we were walking out. He told me ” Can you do me a favor, give me a drop in your bike to the bus stop, I will take the public transport to reach Jesuit House on Museum road” I was deeply touched by his simplicity and humility.

I have known Fr. Ronnie Prabhu for close to Five decades, a good friend, a mentor, a spiritual advisor and a counsellor par excellence. I have never seen him without his trade mark smile even as he was battling cancer few months before he left this world, his mental faculties and charm never left this good priest. He was a man of God, a model Jesuit Priest, who had only one grouse against me “ Bennet – you didn’t join the jesuits” ironically it was Fr. Ronnie Prabhu who blessed our nuptials, and it was he who ensured that the rocky path to the Alter was made smooth with his brilliant counselling. He left this world to soon, creating a vacuum that’s hard to fill. RIP dearest Fr. Ronnie, the values you inculcated in us during the several retreats and talks we were privileged to attend as students of SAC and St. Joseph’s institutions have made us what we are today. The charm that Fr. Ronnie exuded, his commanding oratory, thought provoking homily’s, the melodious Hindi & Sanskrit bhajans are permanent memories. He will continue to be an inspiration to the Jesuits and to all of of us who have known him intimately… may his soul RIP.. I’m waiting to lay my hands on the aptly titled book. The somber crowd at his funeral and his composed face in the casket – yes, indeed Fr. Ronnie died Smiling – at peace within himself.. a saint in our times… I’m sure he is up there with his cherubic smile watching over us.

Sad that a young boy dies under the wheels of the truck. Drive on Mangalore roads and look at how the Rickshaw drivers drive. They drive like they have emergency appointment at Hospital. They do not even stop for Human Crossing lines when People cross. Instead they Zig Zag in between People crossing as People get panicked thinking who will get hit by that Rickshaw. Revenue Department’lowest office and lowest Post of Officer is Tehsildar. This Office is Source of Income for its Employees. I am having a very bad experience of Tehsildar and staff. As I have been Serving as NCO of Indian Air Force and had applied for ? bags of cement during my service in 1980. I Approached the office of Tehsildar to get the permit for Minimum 50-60 bags. He after knowing that I am Serving in defence and I don’t have sufficient time to stay back. I shall not be able to Come. He straight away recommended 5 Five Bags of Cement. I Once again Approached politely, But all in Vein. I got Annoyed and forgot about the protocol of NCO. I started Shouting on him and blame for such rough tough behaviour. I have Thrown The application. You will feel So humiliated. He Said if Chief Minister Write any to DM that also will come to his Office.

To change the name in the RTC inheritance certificate issued by Tahasildhar is required. Because there may be other children who may have rights in the Property. If this is done they have to do it within the time specified under SKAL rules. If not done there are two remedies available. 1) write a complaint to the Assistant commissioner who is in the same building. 2) lodge a complaint to LOK AYUKTA with an affidavit. I am sure, if this was done your work would have been done by now. I have posted this as a guide to all others who may have problems in the taluk office. Further, I wish to add here that Mr Cutinha was at Bunder police station in 1999 had helped my son who was bullied by rowdy students if he is the same person.

Johan Cutinha is lucky that the documents are still in his name. Otherwise, our real estate lobby would have smartly changed the details to their name and made him a pauper. I remember paying a huge amount for getting a building license permit as I did not have time to wait at the office for approvals I took an agent and he did the job for a cost. Maybe Mr. John being in the police was not ready to grease the palms for 2 years to remove the name of his deceased mother.As I have seen it is an easier task to delete the name of a deceased person from property documents if the death certificate and proper declarations are available. Tag the DC.

New Ambulances means money and good will contract with suppliers. This is the sad state of any Government. When it is our tax paid money it has no value. Will the Dist Administration, hospital management or any authority that is concerned with these ambulances allow their own vehicles to get rusted and go a waste like this? No, because it is their own money. Even if they used these already existing 108 ambulances after giving them a good repair and face lift, we would have saved a lot of funds. But then repair work has not much money involved. Purchase of new ambulances will have a lot of money transactions and that means a lot of good will involved. So who makes money in whose names? God save us from these Governing people who have no considerations to common people like us. They are just worried about themselves – I, me & myself attitude.

This is not a freak accident… It’s one of those that was waiting to happen!!! Motorists have to be careful since it’s a blind spot on all 4 sides when approaching the small cross junction. In this case it looks like both the rider and driver did not slow down coming to the junction.

The NGOs were doing a good job to supply food to the needy and rescue the destitute. But the local administration to show their power sent the notices for not taking people of their choice. NGO’s treat patients who are mentally ill or destitute and not able-bodied. The government has also its own centers to take care of the old and frail. So what is the point in sending warning notices to NGO’s and who will be responsible if these NGO’s stop working like White Doves stopped food for the reason of social distancing?. If the government and local administration itself is not able to take care of its own people then what is the point in penalizing NGO’s who run on public help and donations.

I agree everything Alfie-maam wrote except I don’t like Chutney at Tajmahal. It is overly tangy. But more seriously speaking, Tajmahal rates are so high that ordinary people cannot afford. Earlier I used to see even daily wage earners used to eat. Today it is not affordable to common man. Too sad. That may be because they have too much business. Before you show me a daily-wage earner or two in the restaurant, let me tell you confidently, they are there because of their addition to the excellent unmatachable ‘ Tajmahal Kapi’ but probably forego snacks that they used to eat with that.

This decision not only put migrants in trouble, even distributed Corona to every nook and corner of the country. I am sure WHO to be blamed as well. If UDUPI hospitals have spare capacity to handle Covid, i strongly suggest that they should open up the borders for our own people. In the end we all know who are the people who want to come and why are they coming here… Even enemies are given protection when they surrender. These are our own people who are coming here to save their life. If UDUPI hospitals are running full, then absolutely no problem. DC could openly mention the same and declare the reason for not allowing inflow.
