I recently joined St. Aloysius college that is a year back. I used to walk along with my friends who buy stuffs from ajja. And this ajja gave me a pack of 7 samosas free saying that am too thin. He is soo kind hearted. May god bless him with good health and happiness.

Great….I too was a fan of his samosas..when no tiffin would buy 5 samosa for ten rupee and that’s the lunch . Happy to know the story of Ajja and also thankful to him for being there near old physics block ..at the entrance of so called paathala ground (I think that’s the name ) sharp during lunch break . May God give him good health and happiness

I know this Ajja, he is very active and hardworking. He is coming near my house, where one Rakteswari Gudi is there. On the way, he prays at this Gudi and goes to Bunder walking only. Some times I gave him a drop to the Karnataka bank bus stand. He gives me samosa free. He told me that he was residing at Kavoor. Very good person. God bless him always.

It’s better to cancel Diploma exams in this PANDAMIC condition . We are strucked in other states . If we come to Bangalore to write exams no Accomidation is their . All PGs and hostels are closed . Its humble request please give permission to write exams from near by Diploma college to us like Others did or kindly arrange Accommodations for students.

I think our dear Alfi-maam went overboard on criticism.. To a certain degree, I agree it is dumb. But to say “This project is nothing but to fill the pockets of our elected leaders, engineers, contractor and middlemen.” – that I don’t buy just looking at this. How much money can they make out of it unless the cost has been shown disproportionately high? If that is the case, that is a corruption issue. I think it is high time we stop overly criticize doing something. I think something is better than nothing. If this ‘faulty’ fence stops at least a few people from committing suicide. BTW I think Suicide is legally decriminalized but I agree it is ‘morally criminal’ – not sure if that is the proper usage of the term. But I really appreciate you taking time and effort to find the right way to ‘fence’. That is great responsible journalism. Thank you from a humble reader.

Well highlighted Mr. D’souza. ? Holding the government to account for serious lapses is the role of the voting public and the press. Persons manning GoI showed no ‘duty of care’ to citizens of India in allowing 1.5 million international airline passengers into the country for two months preceding 23 March lockdown many who have been exposed and some on fever depressant drugs. This sort of gung ho chest thumping attitude will not do in today’s world of microwaves and virus which one cannot even see. These people have proved to be not only inept, but liable to prosecution in a court of law. I forgot, our laws do not recognise ‘duty of care’. Seems like ‘care a damn’ is a way of life for our countrymen who have quadrupled their population from 0.3 billion in 1950 to 1.4 billion today. We have perfected the art of denial. Can we blame the government ? Our democracy is not participative democracy, it is democracy of utter indifference and irresponsibility on the part of the populace. Where there are privileges, there are duties. The reader must decide, and more importantly, introspect. A far fetched dream ?

Yes Alfie. The two pictures are from Kankanady. One is a teenager who was selling when he was a kid. They sell openly without any fear and they are located in a prime shopping area where you can see the Police all the time. It is a real nuisance for the environment and Health of people using it and of others when they spit out. I hope the concerned authorities will do something about it.

You missed the point Siva, when you wear blinkers you cannot think beyond the narrow prism. The writer hasn’t condoned the Emergency of 1975, I was a student then and vividly remember how bad it was. What we see today is simply the hijacking of institutions eg. The Courts, RBI, ED , MEDIA etc., besides the autocratic manner in which the present Government is functioning, simply there is no asker and no teller. To quote you, yes today we saw the article in print, but for your information the writer has faced a lot of intimidation and trauma for his frank opinion and social work amongst the underprivileged without distinction for caste and creed. With rains in the offing two wheeler drivers will be easy preys for this kind of careless attitude of builders. I live in Bejai new road end, through out our road some building or other will be under construction, blocking half of the road, either piled up by sand, mud or even building materials.You can not even talk to them, they behave like roads is their own property. Neither MCC nor any other concerned department is bothered, because it is a huge lobby that is around the builders, MCC and other authorities. Complete set of PPE kit provided by Kscc, its veryusful in the flight to avoid any transmission. I have registered in the indian counslate site on the first day of registration open. But no reaponse at all, also I have tried different sources to get seat. Finally we got in this Kscc charted flight. Rich or poor does not matter. As long as they are sincere, it is good enough. The candidate who submitted several pages of asset declaration should be appreciated for being honest. At the same time, the assets other than inherited should be in proportion to their known source of income and declared income tax. Having said this, I wonder how are these people able to make such big assets. Though I am in the high income bracket not able to save and when I retire, I will have no assets to live upon. I hope those politicians teach me a trick or two to general public. That would be the best service/seva to the people who they represnt. No other service is needed to make them worthy candidate. And I can have at least one full meal a day and a place to stay once I retire.

Between filing of the FIR and the charge-sheet whenever there are powerful people involved behind the case, it normally results in a lot of backdoor dealing between the accused and the police in order to dilute the charge-sheet to an extent the case eventually loses its all strength, resulting in the quashing or exoneration of the accused. A lot of money changes hands in the process. In fact in big cities there are touts who can help you get these things done. Trust me, everyone (I mean EVERY ONE) involved get their cut.

He was my classmate in primary School at St Ann’s Carmel School near State Bank Mangalore. We were both very mischievous at school. I had the opportunity to meet him daily after 17 years when I was serving at Corporation Bank since Fashion Jungle account was maintained in our Poonja Arcade branch. He was a nice person giving respect to all our colleagues. I still remember the day he was shot since I was hospitalized for removal of my Gall Bladder. It was really shocking for Mangaloreans. He would have been 63 if he was alive.

Churches should open, even religious places like temples and mosques already been opened. Only need to follow strict precautions as priests and volunteers should control policies, only minimum people should attend each masses. Now almost more than 4 months no religious activities. So now it’s back to business as usual, is it? All the shameful scandal is now conveniently forgotten. This is exactly what I was talking about – The religious institutions have this ingenious gift of brushing aside the rot and pretend nothing ever took place. “There is nothing to see here folks, now let’s move on and pretend nothing ever happened”. I did not want anyone to go to jail for what happened instead I wanted to see drastic reforms to ensure such disgraceful episodes never repeated again. I wanted the bishop and the diocese to come out with new guidelines about handling financial matters and priests’ personal conduct but astonishingly enough nobody is even talking about it. The bishop in his clarification (after the investigation report came out) did admit that the deceased priest had depression-related problems but he did not clarify how he was placed in such a high position despite that. Does that not make the bishop culpable to some degree? Do these people really think everyone else is an ignorant sheep? And yet, they lecture us every Sunday about virtues and vice. I am waiting for the next one opportunity for a priest or a nun to come and give me gyaan about righteousness. I will make sure that encounter is going to be a memorable one.

Fr. Joachim well written. White or black, both are God’s creation. You have rightly said, blood color remains the same for all human beings, air we breath, sunlight we share is all the same. Colors are immaterial, it is man made difference and discrimination. What has happened is nothing but ego of few people, arrogance of power, feeling of superiority just because of that one thing – a white color.!! Hope the system will change at least after this. Hope the judiciary system of the US punishes these officers with severe and well deserved punishment. Only then in the times to come, other officials will be on their guard, before doing anything like this. Let us learn to respect every human being who is God’s creation. So mostly it is give and take situation. Emergencies and situations that require their help, Police dept also has been there to help us. During this Corona issues last almost close to three months, while we the citizens have been trying to stay home safe, Police personnel have toiled day in and day out to ensure our safety and security. ಹೀಗಿರಲಿ ವಾರದ ಪ್ರತಿ ದಿನ(ಶನಿವಾರ ಮತ್ತು ರವಿವಾರ ಹೊರತುಪಡಿಸಿ) ಚರ್ಚಿನ ಒ೦ದೊ೦ದು ವಾಳೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಪೂಜೆ ನಡೆಸುವುದು. ಶನಿವಾರ ಮತ್ತು ರವಿವಾರ ತಲಾ ಮೂರು ಪೂಜೆ ನಡೆಸಿ ಬಾಕಿ ಉಳಿದ ವಾಳೆಯವರಿಗೆ ಅವಕಾಶ ನೀಡುವುದು. ಸಹಾಯಕ ದರ್ಮಗುರುಗಳಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂಜೆಯ ಸ೦ಖ್ಯೆ ಹೆಚ್ಹಿಸುವುದು. ಪ್ರತಿ ವಾರ ದಿನಗಳನ್ನು ಬದಲಿಸುವುದು. ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಹಾಗು ಹಿರಿಯ ನಾಗರಿಕರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಪೂಜೆ ಸಾದ್ಯವಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸುವುದು. ಸಾನಿಟೈಸರುಗಳನ್ನು ಜನರೆ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಜಿಸುವುದು. ಪ್ರತಿ ಬೆ೦ಚಿಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬರ೦ತೆ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ೦ತೆ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮಾಡುವುದು. ಮು೦ದಿನವರು ಎಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತರೆ ಹಿ೦ದಿನವರು ಬಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು. ಸಾಲಾಗಿ ಬರುವಾಗ ಟೋಕನನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ ನ೦ಬ್ರ ಕೊಡುವುದು. ನಿರ್ಗಮಿಸುವಾಗ ಒ೦ದನೆ ನ೦ಬ್ರ ಮೊದಲಿಗೆ ಅವಕಾಶ ನೀಡುವುದು. ಪರಮ ಪ್ರಸಾದ ನೀಡುವಾಗ ಪಿಪಿಈ ಕಿಟ್ಟನ್ನು ದರಿಸುವುದು. ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಅ೦ತರವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಲು ಸ್ವಯ೦ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸುವುದು ಅಥವಾ ಪಾಲನಾ ಮ೦ಡಳಿಯ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಸಹಕರಿಸುವುದು. ರಿಚಾರ್ಡ್ ರೊಡ್ರಿಗಸ್ ನಿಡ್ದೋಡಿ

Concern of worried parents towards their kids is normal. No one under this sun is certain about when this Corona issue will end and when life will come back to normalcy?? We may have to live with this pandemic. Well what can the Educational Institutions do too? They will have to wait and watch until things get clearer I guess. Parents were, are and will be a concerned lot,which is obvious. But being too protective about children is not a good sign in general. What we observe in normal days is parents being too much anxious about kids studies, kids marks and grades. They have hardly bothered to teach kids other basic things at home which are essential in day to day life. Educational Institutions are busy trying to teach kids only books values ant not much of social values. Parents and Teachers will need to act wisely at this time and not just worry about only academics.

The concern of parents are a good sign, and a necessary one in order to prevent the unbridled commercialisation of society. However, is the sentiment strong enough to last, or is it the latest flavour of the Covid season ? With parents referring to their children as “kids”, it seems like today’s children have one major problem. It is their parents. Parents have become so careless and reckless in their ways, that nowadays, they don’t know the difference between their offspring and that of a goat. Can parents be referred to as f**kers by their “kids”? Will that be alright with them ? Parents need to introspect more, than mindlessly going about parenting. It’s the example they set, that moulds the future of society. Attitudes matter. More so, the attitude of parents. Management is not enough, leadership matters. Parenting, simply put, is ‘a duty of personally delivered care’, nothing less. No books or manuals can be written on the entire subject, for sure. Parents needs to apply their minds, not merely use their brains.

Betrayal of the electorate in an election is a surefire way of extinction for a political party. Now BJP can remain in power for some time because they have able leadership at the center. Apart from their handling of the economy I do not have any gripes for now. That said, there were millions of middle class and merchant class voters who had voted for BJP who today feel betrayed when Modi has covertly embraced socialism. This creates a void in the political spectrum and gives rise to another “conservative” party rearing its head in the near future (just like AAP did on the left of the spectrum a decade ago). At the moment our political left is heavily overcrowded (because it’s easy to do politics using leftist ideology). This creates a massive imbalance however. But the long term stability of a nation depends on the balanced left and right, because everyone’s voice needs to be heard. But if one political party tries to please everyone then that also sows the seeds of its own destruction in the long run. It’s impossible to please everyone because we all are unique and yet different. If you go to the social media today you can see the once-hard core BJP supporters have changed their stance. I can almost sense if there was another right wing faction came up all those disgruntled voters would be easily swayed. That would massively affect BJP. Personally I don’t care with that outcome but I can’t resist pointing out what I am seeing. Socialism eventually runs its course when there is no more money left. We see that in US, UK, Turkey, Hungary where right wing has taken over after a long time. What we are seeing today in US or Europe is the final throes of socialism which is fighting for its survival. Moving forward it will be either Stalinist Totalitarianism or total anarchy. Indian politics should wake up to this reality and learn its lessons.

Indian electorate is gullible and clueless. It can not tell apart political left from the right. The present central government won their mandate for their purported right wing ideologies but what it’s doing in its current rule is nothing but socialism which is driving us towards Venezuela. I think it is not accidental that the present central government doing a lot of socialistic ideas. There are a lot of reasons. A couple of strong ones: Having seen from a close quarters, I see RSS-ideological parent of BJP is closer to left than right. RSS emphasis on equality and simplicity, discouraging personal grandiose, giving importance to local as aginst Videshi, seem like more socialistic. An important aspect that I see pole apart from leftists is the religious/cultural aspect. That is why I like BJP. It has best of both worlds.

Majority of the population may have already had the virus come and go and nobody, including the host, would have noticed it. It’s no different than people getting a lurgy every winter. It comes, the body immune system fights it off and it goes. You don’t create quarantine, test etc. How long is it going to take for the country to realise this is all a farce? Are they going to continue to lockdown as soon as they lift it and more arrive from the outside state and we go into a never ending loop? If this continues we will soon have a civil war breaking out because people will get to the street just to find food. I repeat again, if this virus had plague-like symptoms, no amount of lock-down would have contained it and we would have already lost half the population. Indian government should stop listening to the West and their puppet WHO. They are playing their own globalist games – it’s a power-play. They don’t want to Trump coming to power again while the socialists in Europe are losing it due to their decades of mismanaging the EU. They want to put a system in place where people can not get to the street to protest. European banking system is bust. It’s only a matter of time. Why is no one trying to put two and two together?

Fantastic article. Initially it was very tempting to see the benefits. Later part of article explaining is also correct in our city. We are not in systematicly running the show. To become smarter city we need better monitoring systems wrong doing people . While we are Cycling, Vehicles are flying opposite sides and hitting many of us. It is very scary to ride bicycle. These people were tested (and incidentally identified as positive) only because they traveled. It is shocking that so many of those people are turning out to be positive. This means a lot of people who are not tested are already positive and we may never know which means we are actually in the advanced stage of community infection.
