  • From Original R.Pai on Poojary Wept during Brahmakalashotsava recalling Rai's Foul Language - Harikrishna Bantwal

Dear Harikrishna Bantwal, It’s time to stop your non-stop drama of Poojary-worshiping. Mr.Ramanatha Rai may or may not have called Poojary names. But, what’s the big deal when this is the ‘normal’ language used by many political leaders, their chelas and even many police officers? Do you know how often these abusive words are hurled at ordinary citizens by political leaders and their goons? They even physically attack people for questioning. So, please spare me your sanctimony. Mr.Poojary is not king or god. Your drama is getting old and boring.

Now Bantwal is challenging Rai to visit Dharmasthala and take the oath before Lord Manjunatha! Toh baat yahaan tak pahunchi. Lord has no time to waste with cheap politicians. He is busy blessing people. So what Banteal can do? Just say Rai, yeh haath mujhe de de. What would be Rai’s response? Nahin, woh toh pehle hi Pratapchandra ko de chuka hoon.Haw. Taaliyaa.?

Thank You Dr for your kind generosity. Other doctors should follow in your footsteps, also the rich people to help those in needs. Thinking only of personal wealth is not good. No doubt at all that this doctor has spread the message of sharing and giving especially during Christmas and New Year season by sharing a portion of his wealth with the needy- we need more doctors like Dr Padmanabha and his wife, who have shown that “caring” for others is important than “storing” the wealth thyself. Great article by Alfie, as always!

  • From A. S. Mathew on Saudi Arabia, UAE introduce VAT for first time

The oil producing countries had their hey day of luxury and endless celebrations for four decades. But now they are all going to see the reality of life. Venezuela while sitting at the largest oil reserve int he world along with one of the largest natural gas reserve, now the people are trying to cross the border to Chile and neighboring countries for mere survival and the people are eating from the trash bin. Once, the stores were filled with north American made consumer goods too abundantly, the people were enjoying a lifestyle of high standard without working. Even with the united effort of the non-OPEC nations, the oil price is not going up. The current crude oil price circling around $ 60.00/bl is pushing the oil producing nations to red ink in their budgeting. Thus, more taxation will be the only solution to the economically starving oil producing countries of the world, especially the GCC countries.

  • From Max and Jessie Rasquinha on Mangalureans Welcome New Year 2018 with Prayers and Revelry

Yes, the New Year comes and goes with lots of celebrations, parties, get-togethers and many other ways of jubilations. But the people of India have great faith in the prayers. People pray for timely rains, people pray for safety and security, and most importantly, people pray for Peace and Happiness throughout the New Year. People of India are concerned about the growing populations, people are concerned about the growing inflations, and the people are also concerned about growing shortages in so many ways due to growing demands and less supplies that result in ever increasing frustrations on so many daily uncertainties of life. Having recently returned from an eight week trip to India, we distinctly witnessed the ever-increasing traffic on our roads adding more pollution and congestion. Our hospitals are full, our restaurants are full, and also our churches, temples and mosques are full. Even our schools and colleges are full. All of the above circumstances obviously lead people more towards God seeking the basic comforts in our daily life. All of the above are not normally noticed in most of the other countries of the world. Prayer is therefore essential in our daily life of struggles in India. May God help us to begin our New Year with lots of good hopes and good blessings.

  • From A. S. Mathew on President lauds Karnataka people for giving back to society

It is a big relief to hear from the President of India, his emphasis on education and commending the people and community in serving the society through giving education. While speaking at a Christian gathering, he did compliment very highly about the service rendered by the Christian community in education and healthcare. Also, while visiting Kerala, he was greatly fascinated by the high level of literacy-healthcare and social harmony in the State of Kerala and challenged the northern States to learn from Kerala; which was addressed by PM Modi as the ” Somalia ” of India. While watching the statements and speeches of the President, he is fully contradicting the statements of PM Modi in berating the non-BJP ruled States.

” J R Lobo stands- J for Justice; R for Reality and Respectable; L for Leadership and Loving; O for Outstanding; B for Bold and Brave; and O for Orator” Is this a report or a propaganda? The author, known for lecturing Hindus on Deepavali, seems to have forgotten all about poor people, noise pollution and other social causes. Going by his earlier logic, why waste so much electricity, money and time on these things when we can spend it on poor? Did he ever ask Mr.Lobo on his absence in ‘mangaluru sachcha’ campaign?

Is this a joke? If this is a dead horse, why is All India Muslim Personal Law board opposing it? In other words, the Muslim Law Board (including one of karnataka state minister) wants to retain this old tradition of divorcing. How is this comparable to hindu men illegally dumping their women without divorce? On is legal and other oneis illegal. If any hindu dumps his wife, then she can take legal route. No Hindu organization is demanding a right to dump women! This character Vinod Dua and other pseudo-secular individuals are known for playing these dishonest games to confuse readers. There was a time when pseudo-secular groups used these twisted arguments to fool Hindus and justify bad behavior by minority communities. Those days are over. Your lies and propaganda are exposed.

The Beach stretch from Malpe, Thottam, to Kemman is simply beautiful, and the sunset is simply magnificent! Swimming, especially during high tide is however not advisable because of high waves and strong water current, It is sad to note that some people, especially men, throw caution to the wind, and dare to brave the sea to show off their ego – man can never stand the 3 elements of nature, Water, Wind, and Fire. Proper Notification Boards are put up at the entrance to the beach at Malpe, both in English and Kannada and as well Lifeguards and Police personnel are constantly present – but some men drink alcohol from either the Bar at the entrance to the beach or carry their own booze, and then venture into the sea, only to die!

Karnataka is a beautiful state, blessed with forests, wild animals, beaches, flat lands, and good natural resources, very spiritual and a rich history. However, some people of Karnataka are not happy with God’s blessings and are instead focusing on joining either of the two parties BJP or Congress in the hope of gaining power, name, fame, and ill-gotten riches. In this frenzy, they are forever against each other, making derogatory remarks on each other or their party, forgetting their faith and its teachings and the fear of God. Karnataka cannot progress or prosper with such people and should instead learn to love one another and live in peace and harmony and enjoy happiness. Without God’s blessings, no party or person can prevail and neither can progress and prosper.

  • From Max and Jessie Rasquinha on 3,515 Karnataka farmers committed suicide in five years

The stress and strain suffered by tens of thousands of Farmers in Karnataka over the past several years is fully understandable on account of climate changes, increasing costs and resultant financial constraints. A farmer is the backbone of the Nation and therefore it is important for the Government to step in and help the needy farmers so as to enable them to bear the resultant consequences. Long term financial subsidies and also long term interest free loans could be one of the main ways to help a suffering farmer who is helping hundreds of labor force to pool their efforts and toil the land. There are so many ways to assist a suffering farmer and relieve him at least temporarily some of the major burdens, specially the financial burdens.

Ananth Hegde is an embarrassment for attacking the concept of secularism. He should have targeted pseudo-secular groups who abused the term ‘secularism’ to attack Hindus while supporting shenanigans of certain minority communities. He should have targeted coward media for hiding under desk when it comes to Muslims. Instead, Anant Hegde showed his ignorance by ridiculing the concept of secularism. BJP needs to descipline him immediately. Unfortunately, this is going to be a new reality in India. Thanks to decades of pseudo-secular culture, the political pendulum is going to swing a little too far in other direction. This is exactly why it’s important to do the right things and follow the right policies.

Rightly, there should only be one National Identity Card for availing any service – private or government, and there are no substantial benefits that can be expected from the government, take for example the subsidy on Cooking Gas Cylinder – how the PM wants every Indian to forego after emphasizing that Aadhar Card was for that specific purpose.

  • From Richard Thomas on CMC Meets Jail Superintendent seeking Permission to Provide food on Christmas to Jail Inmates

God bless this committee for their selfless gesture of serving festive food on Christmas day for the prison inmates. All faiths must follow suit to bring about a sense of caring and sharing and of love. Likewise, clothes, blankets, toileteries, and educational books should be donated by the neighbourhood community and distributed to the prison inmates. These thoughts and actions will make those prison inmates that the world is full of love and care.

  • From Original R.Pai on Letter with Forged Signature to Reduce Kadri Temple loudspeaker Volume Lands Blany D'Souza in Soup

“Some Hindu organizations also alleged that the Mosques use loudspeakers throughout the year without any objection from anyone” – Report. This summarizes the problem very well. The double standards are the root cause behind the rise of ‘hindu’ vote bank. Hindu community is sick and tired of these games by minority groups and ‘secular’ politicians. Why is it so difficult to have one common rule for everyone? The geniuses in media are also equally responsible for practicing double standards.

Glad to the read the open article exposing the hidden strategy of the current administration from my personal Friend. The RSS and her sister parties have created a new song to bluff the gullible party followers ” forced conversion” through which India will be a Christian country. The number of the political leaders who got educated at the Christian schools and colleges are too many; including Advani-Arun Jaitly-Smiriti Irani-Dr. Kiran Bedi- the CM of Goa-Sadananda Gowda (former Railway Minister for a very short term from Karnataka) etc, they are running the country as RSS politicians. How much difference we can visualize too openly and easily, wherever the Christian population is higher, the superior healthcare-education and the socially uplifted society? The most stomach cramping rhetoric is to hear from the RSS leaders all across the nation praising the great contribution of the Christian community in healthcare-education and social life, whenever they are invited to speak at the Christian gatherings and Churches. It is now quite known to the whole world, especially in the Christian nations of the world where Modi loves to visit and hug the leaders with the profound intention to get massive foreign investment in India, that India is under the current regime is fully anti-Christian; and will do anything and everything to terrorize and oppress them to be politically subordinates. The RSS Government’s misguided and blinded strategy to reach that destination will be crashing before our eyes. We do believe in and worship a risen GOD.

  • From Original R.Pai on Christmas in the Midst of Unseen Violence

“how could many of leaders of the Hindu fundamental organizations and Bhartiya Janta Party…” writes author. So, BJP is a ‘Hindu fundamental’ organization? Does the author even realize how this kind of condescending language coupled with chequered past of missionaries have turned public sentiments very negative on christian religious groups? When BJP came to power, there were many reports of church attacks which later turned out to be false. Even in recent Gowri Lankesh murder case, media and many groups accused ‘Hindu’ groups for the murder with zero evidence. Not a single soul came forward to apologize for spreading fake news. Do you realize how these things perpetuate the same old negative stereotypes of minority groups conspiring to tarnish and weaken the Hindu society? Hindu society has a number of flaws and challenges that nobody denies. However, constantly branding anything ‘Hindu’ as ‘intolerant’, mocking hindu sentiments and festivals are adding fuel to the suspicion between communities and resulting in these unfortunate incidents.

“We should not give communal colour to any death…” says the guy who has been giving communal color to the murder of Gowri Lankesh without any clear proof. Do these guys even understand what comes out of their mouth? He is the one misusing a cultural event to spew his political views and target his critics. The irony is nauseating. Also, where was his passion when certain elements in minority community engage in violence and illegal acts? Why is he not uttering a word on illegal slaughterhouses and cow theft? How about a comment on growing influence of ISIS? Or even better – for claiming to be an ‘artist’, can you make a movie on pravaadi?

Thank you so very much, dear Shriman Ivan D’Souza for your thoughtful gesture in bringing Xmaz feelings with a holiday spirit to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. India is changing, and India has changed so much for better over the years, it is heartening to feel that the secular values are looming large on the nation, and therefore the Almighty God of all faiths will always remain kind and merciful on India that is striving for communal harmony, love and peace. As much as we visit India almost every year, our focus is not on the delicious food that we eat or the fanciful Restaurants that we visit. Our major focus is on the progress and prosperity of people of all faiths in Mother India, our literacy expansion and our changing standard of life. Peace and harmony amongst people is the most important aspect of India’s changing life. Once people appreciate and embrace Peace and Harmony in their daily persuit of life, all the rest of the priorities will fall in their own place in a systematic pattern. As much as we are far away, we watch India’s daily life of “Shanthi” with a prayerful heart and mind, and wish India best of success in all their daily endeavors so that people of all ages and religions may survive with peace and harmony.

  • From Max and Jessie Rasquinha on Journalists should Uphold Truth and Expose Falsehood - Clifford Pereira

Journalism and the role of media in a country such as India is the single most important source that connects our communities and our societies with daily events and daily happenings. It is also a rewarding segment that provides job opportunities for hundreds of thousands of people, both young and old to be actively involved in the media with a view to help the public to keep abreast with the people and the world. In addition to the publication of daily newspapers and magazines, the media also plays an active role in the daily broadcasts thru radios and televisions as well thru websites and many other means of communication. In the ever-changing world, utilization of the media is an important area that enables people to interact with each other and share their opinions thru verbal dialogs or thru various debates and sharing of individual opinions. We fully endorse the views expressed by Mr. Clifford Pereira on the truthfulness and uprightness that the media has to contribute to the society that we belong. Media is a difficult job and also a challenging job, because howsoever truthful a journalist can be, the listening public still has their own choice and judgement to make their own judgements on the authentification of any topic that is portrayed by a journalist to the public. Journalism is a tough job that a reporter has to publicize to the world in whichever way he or she likes to make it public, but somebody has to make the news public and make the news an interesting episode to make the news as truthful as possible and satisfy the world and make their role of journalism an interesting reality.

Retirement age is 60 legally in India, and why is this not practised in the offices of governance in India? If this is overlooked, so should education be tax exempt in every form and shape? I firmly believe it is not the amount of taxes this government is on the path of collection, they should really be in the concept of containing salaries and expenses in all government agencies, that is the real reason for wanting more revenue in the form of GST that has virtually made living in India more expensive and gets life and development even further back. It is hard to imagine what does the present governance aim to achieve at the cost of all the people in India – like currency demonetization was a surprise move and not a democratic or public approved move, and what did it benefit the overall Indian people besides being told how much to withdraw and how to spend in a rather dictator form and the huge inconvenience for nearly 3 months

  • From Max and Jessie Rasquinha on MLA J R Lobo Inaugurates Renovated road in Bejai

New concreted roads, howsoever narrow they may be, are changing the overall outlook of Mangalore, from what we observed during our recent visit to Mangalore. The roads are well done, and also the roads are clean and neat. If there is any way to create some foot-pathways alongaside that will be great, but the overall progress of the roads in and around Mangalore is extremely praiseworthy. India is now a fairly rich country in comparison with many other developing as well as developed nations in the world. With such a growing population added with ever-growing Education, all our City planners and developers should not fail in their aspirations for the City because there is enough Taxation made available thru every corner of the economic growth. Areas such as Health, Sanitation, Education, Transportation and Communication should receive best possible attention so that people are made happy, and happy people will willingly pay the taxes due from them because these taxes come back to each and every individual in one form or another. Thank you, Mr. J. R. Lobo, for all your forthrightness in focusing on all the priorities of the City, and the people will always remain grateful to you for your good leadership.

Very good tale … cannot be called an analysis since the view is biased. Modi just pocketed two states Gujarat and Himachal to increase the tally of total states under BJP rule! BJP is going to be in majority in Rajyasabha very soon… Of course demonetisation and GST has reduced the speed of development, which is unavaoidable. However growth has picked up from 5.8 % to 6.3 % recently. World agencies are predicting the growth rate will be some where near 8.00% in 2018 end and 2019 . Acche din cannot be written off yet!!

May be in Karnataka assembly elections they will be able to scrape through, not because the Congress strength but because BJP lacks real leadership in the State. But overall, unless able leaders like Tharoor get leadership position, the prospects of Congress in the future are bleak.

If a party has been in power for 22 years straight in one State and still managed to win another term in majority then that’s nothing but praiseworthy. If it was 94-88 perhaps one can say Congress gained. But this is clear victory for BJP. Suck it up and move on.

The arrangement of plants in pots are aesthetically pleasing. However, it may cause danger to drivers obstructing their way. May be, you can move by a foot and put them on the edge of footpath? 2. I still don’t see any participation from minority groups, institutions and communities. There must NOT be a civilian group of any faith as authority to police people over the age of 18 years, besides being able to spread good moral behaviour, modest style of clothing, and avoiding boys of any faith with evil intentions. It is always good in a country as diverse culturally and religiously to maintain a good healthy friendship with people of all faith. However, it is also always advisable to maintain a good and healthy relationship with one’s own faith and culture to make a better society. Girls should be especially made aware of this. Hindus are no less than Muslims in committing crimes – the 2013 Manipal rape case being one such example. In fact, faith and religion have nothing to do with an individual’s evil intentions and action.

Congress party and its minority vote banks are some of the nastiest communal elements ruining the secular fabric of Bharatha desha. For decades, they have been playing this dirty game against peace loving majority community. Unfortunately, Indian media and ‘secular’ groups are also equally cowards in confronting this dangerous reality. Never ending cases of cattle theft, illegal slaughter houses and illegal cattle trafficking are being reported on daily basis. The Karnataka government must contain the deaths in the open wells by passing a law for safety purpose, with a well engineered concept of keeping the mouth of any open well, closed as well ventilated with a solid tubular or angled aluminium structural frame mesh, with an opening at the location of the overhead pulley from where it should be feasible to draw water from the well. This should apply to all homes and building societies and farms, with a 12 months lead time frame given for adhering to this new law and it’s implementation. In this manner, many lives can be save of those who willfully jump in the open well to die, or those whose evil intention is to kill someone by dumping in the open well, or for those who could accidentally fall in the open well,

What a nice and delightful message to read about Global Toastmasters in Jubail, Saudi Arabia combining their Toastmasters gathering with Eeducation and celebration at the Grand Dunes Restaurant. The place Al-Jubail was known to us just fifty years ago as a fishing port surrounded by serene beaches and palm gardens has now turned out to be one of the largest Petrochemical sights of the world. Toastmasters activities nearly fifty years were only secluded in Aramco at Dhahran, whereas now Toastmasters movement is spreading actively throughout the Kingdom. In fact, couple of years ago, Mohammed Al-Qahtani from Saudi Arabia was chosen as the World Champion of Public Speaking. Times have changed all over the world, particularly in Saudi Arabia where women are allowed to drive, cinema houses are almost about to open for public, and many more positive developments are on the horizon. Let the freedom of Education continue to prevail and also let the celebrations be part of daily human desires.

When so many places are in so much of disturbance and turmoil, God is extremely kind to all of us for giving us the willingness and ability to enjoy the Xmas feelings in a best form possible. Peace and Harmony in our family, in our neighborhood, in our community is so valuable to us so that we can share all the joys of the season with many others far and beyond people of our own faith. God is extremely kind and generous to Mangalore and India for all the freedom that is bestowed upon us in our daily endeavor of life. Having just returned from Mangalore, we are so proud to witness so much of progress and prosperity all across our vibrant community. Our Churches are filled with people while our priests and nuns are doing their utmost to provide us with best of their abilities in organizing so many great things that are difficult to enumerate. Our people and our communities are on the verge of progress. We are eagerly praying for daily peace, and God is kind to us in giving us abundance of peace for which let us be thankful in every step of the way. There is so much to be grateful to God for giving us so much that we often take it for granted while there are so many places in this world that are less privileged than us. Thank you, dear Jesus, for all your daily blessings on all of us in India. We are lucky indeed, and we are fortunate.

Anybody who is confidence of taking care of the people of Karnataka and developing basics such as Food for all, Education for all, Good health for all, and good basic infrastructure and amenities for all, should be voted to govern, and not a party BJP or Congress. If this rat in police custody had said Siddaramaiah ordered a supari to eliminate Gauri, would the police have arrested Siddaramaiah? The statements from police interrogation have zero legal value. On this basis almost anybody can be arrested on trumped up charges just by colluding with the police and a rat such as this. The problem is our police department and the lower courts are clueless when it comes law and the constitution. • From Richard Thomas on CM Siddaramaiah Launches Development Works worth Rs 1200 crore in Bhatkal

To make Karnataka ”HUNGER FREE”, the government cannot, as it requires some local Politician, State Minister, and the Center in Delhi, that in the 5-year course of governing end up only with forming Committees and proposing schemes and never sanctioning the funds. The Public Distribution of Food in India is very superficial – one cannot run a household on 1 Kg. of Sugar, 2 Kg. Rice, etc for a month. Instead, the people of Karnataka in every District and in every town and in every community, start FOOD BANKS and give one 10Kg, Cap. Canvas Bag to each middle class and upper-class families and a list of essential foodstuffs, to be filled in and to be collected on a weekly basis by Volunteers, or to for the household to deposit the same at the local FoodBank. Every household that has no income or an income less than Rs 10,000.- should be entitled to come and collect the variety of foodstuff that can be distributed in a FoodBank, that can be set up with folding tables to display the food, and cartons to hold the cans/packets/bottles, etc. of each category of food. The local youth or retired gents and ladies should be inducted to volunteer for 3 hours once a week from 2 pm to 5 pm. Each family receiving the free food stuff must be documented in a database, and an address proof is necessary. All donor’s foodstuff must also be entered into a database. This is the only way to end hunger for the poor and needy, and not with all the big talks from the people in authority as they really do not know what is poverty or what it is to go to bed hungry.

I believe Mangesh Bhende should ask the people who were saved, sheltered, fed, treated, and rehabilitated what Mother Theresa meant for them, and why the Hindu people did not do so. There is nothing to project India in bad light – every Indian knows what India is and so do nationals of donor countries. India is still a poor country by any standard, and will become even poorer the way the nation is governed and taxed. Check out the news articles everyday in every media, and one finds nothing but the BJP and Congress bad mouthing and muck slinging at each other instead of being one and united as Indians, and Indians from all walks of life complaining of shortages and inflation from prices of eggs and vegetables to communication.

Statistics reveal that 99% Gold is smuggled comes mainly from Dubai into Mangalore, and those in possession are main carriers from Kasargod, as the value runs in lakhs and crores. Obviously, these Carriers are working for some Don from Kerala based in Dubai, and Mangalore Airport is the base for Kasargod smugglers. Despite repeated detection and catches, Gold is still being smuggled! Moreover, Kerala Gold shops too are opening up in Udupi and Mangalore. Therefore, it should not take a genius to figure out that this game is run by an intelligent well-connected syndicate. All that gold seized should be well utilized to develop Mangalore and Udupi Districts. Hope this is the case or one can wonder where does all that Gold go finally!

  • From Henry James on The Moment When Stone Is Considered Dead

You are not the body, you are not the mind. But they both belong to you. Make this distinction clear. Don’t take life too seriously. It’s supposed to be fun. Don’t worry about death either, it’s just a cosmic joke. Don’t bank on morality because it comes from the society’s garbage bin. Your personality is fake – it comes from your surroundings. Only your individuality is genuine. Don’t be identified with the mind. When an act arises out of a desire it creates bondage. Desire is the root cause of all misery in this world. When it’s fulfilled it creates greed and when unfulfilled, creates anger, neither of which is good for you. Lower your expectation and drop you ego, you will be the happiest man on the planet. At the moment your mind is ruling you. Reverse this role. Mind as a servant is an excellent weapon and as a master, an obnoxious tyrant. Don’t give too much attention to the mind, focus on your heart instead. Needless to say one cannot exist without mind, but don’t be used by it. Thoughts, which originate from your mind, are external to you. Only your feelings are genuine because they come from your heart. Mind is always of the past or about the future. The mind has no experience but only has memory. The heart knows nothing of the past, nothing of the future; it knows only of the present. The heart has no time concept. When you perfect the art of mastering the mind (it’s an extremely difficult task), you develop certain intuitive abilities with which just through the exercise of your will power you can materialise things. It can be used to do positives things and they will result in blessings. It can also be used for bad things. And that’s how curses work. There is no God who sits in the clouds. You cannot find him/her in the temples or churches or indoctrination centres. In that sense Nietzsche was right. That god never existed. Nobody can turn water into wine. Real miracles are invisible to the ordinary mind. The real miracles remain unrecorded in history because only the person who goes through the process of the miracle knows it, and even he cannot prove it, he cannot give any evidence for it. Never fight with lust, greed, ego, anger, jealousy, hatred – You cannot kill them, you cannot crush them, you cannot fight with them because mind operates on the principle of reverse-effect; all that you can do is just be aware of them. And the moment you are aware, they are gone. In the light, the darkness simply disappears. Anger, lust, jealousy etc. arise first in your deepest core, wordless, undefined. Then it comes to be a thought. Then it enters in your body; adrenaline and other poisons are released in the bloodstream, so you act. As regards God, there are 3 things in existence – known, unknown and ‘unknowable’. The first 2 are the domain of the objective world which the science continues to conquer. The 3rd one is subjective which only the individuals can know. There is no proof or lack of it. It’s your experience (not experiment) which make you realise this. First of all accept that you don’t know. Don’t believe. Seek instead. Belief imposes barrier between you and the process of knowing. You will eventually find that God is the innermost reality of existence. Focus on godliness not god. There is no fundamental difference between atheists and theists. Both believe in something. Theists believe that God exists and atheists believe that God does not exist. They both are on the same boat. Belief fulfils your psychological need. You want to believe because without belief you feel empty, just a driftwood going nowhere. On that note, I don’t understand why Richard Dawkins or Sam Harris bang their head against the wall slagging off mainstream religions. It’s a pointless pursuit. All Abrahamic religions are wrong, just like Dwaita philosophy under Hinduism. Only Adwaita (non-dualistic) philosophy honestly makes an attempt to explain what life is. There is no difference between the individual and God. Aham Brahmasmi. But realising this truth can take 5 years, 50 years, a whole lifetime or perhaps 1000 lifetimes. Until you realise it you will repeat the same mistakes over and over again. Your current body may disappear but you don’t truly go until you settle your bill or get your due. Don’t fall for materialism. Be mindful of it at least. You are likely to be born again, perhaps on the other side of the railway tracks because existence does the balancing act. So you can’t escape from your actions. Causes have effects and actions have consequences. That’s karma for you. Finally, use philosophy only as a starting point. At some point you should drop that too. Because philosophy is nothing but intellectual gymnastics, which fails to look at the whole elephant, instead selectively looks at one limb/organ at a time to say it can explain the whole thing. That’s why every philosophical thought gets debunked by another over time. Intellect is borrowed from others. Focus on Intelligence instead, which is something you are born with. Mind is the subtle part of body and body is gross part of the mind. There is no duality between the two. The ‘mind’ part manifests first, the ‘body’ next. Descartes was wrong; hence the modern western philosophy is wrong. Time comes first, space comes next. I have utmost respect for the western science because of the wonders it has created in this modern world but I feel it has got hold of the wrong end of the stick on this one. Matter is nothing but energy in compressed form. Einstein proved it. Now what existed before the big bang can be answered by theoretical physicists by proving whether energy can exist outside of time and space. Time appears to be linear to the human mind. But it’s circular in reality. There is no past, no future; there is only the present moment. The present moment is not a part of time; the present is eternity Enough rant for today.

India exports all sorts of foodstuff inspite of food shortages and spiralling prices in India, and insane taxes under the guise of GST especially to the Gulf Countries, Russia and USA Export brings in good income to the Government to pay more salaries to all those members in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, whether active and useful or not! Check out the number of Bollywood filmstars and sports personalities gaining from the government in being inducted as a member, that one can certainly never understand. Thus banning of meat or other foodstuff is certainly not in favour against income gained, no matter which Hindu party proclaims religious sentiments.

  • From Henry James on I asked Equal Rights for All Religions never insulted the Constitution  – Pejawar Swamiji

What is the problem in questioning the constitution? It’s not god’s revelation like some other “scriptures”. It’s written by mere mortals. Let there be common sense. I am with Pejavar on this one. The thing is we have shot ourselves in the foot by keeping everything related to the nation off-limits/sacred, be it constitution, national anthem, judiciary etc. So now the chickens are coming home to roost. Since women are given extra importance in the constitution there are so many pro-woman centric laws which are abused by women today, be it dowry law, domestic violence law, outraging modesty, unnatural sex etc. May be 70 years ago women were socially weaker, but not any more. The system should be fluid and dynamic to reflect the current situation. Reservation should be based on economic background, not on social classification. It may have been OK during independence but not anymore.

Oman Tuluver proved again to be the front runners in upholding the values of secularism. Nannate was a fantastic event to be remembered for a long long time. People from different religions from different parts of Karnataka assembled under one roof and witnessed the Nannate event as one family. Hearty congratulations and Kudos to Team Oman Tuluver (the Pandavas of Muscat) for their meticulous planning, innovative ideas, broad minded thinking, and finally the execution to perfection. Around 1200 art lovers from various parts of Karnataka residing in Oman enjoyed the 8 hours journey of nalike, Nataka, and Thelike along with various other felicitation ceremonies. It was a herculean task, but worth the efforts put in by Oman Tuluver Team. Wishing Oman Tuluvers many more such successes in the future too with a hope that they will continue to endeavor and serve the society giving importance to all languages to uphold the art & culture of Karnataka.

Bangalore, Mangalore and Udupi should have border control patrol force at all times to ensure that unwanted criminals, drug carriers, gold smugglers, and antisocial people are detected and stopped from entering at border Check Posts, the Bus Stations, the Railway Stations and at the Airport. Keen eyes must be kept on locals too who are in hand with these criminal elements. Most of all, all such criminals must be executed and must not be tried, jailed and given free shelter and food. Sadly, the Railway security can’t even get rid of those drunkard men and women who make their home on Railway platforms. The Police have to be told and only then they act instead of policing and acting on their own.

  • From F M Lobo, Bejai on In 'Thanksgiving' Spirit CASK Annual Reunion Enliven Catholic Tradition and Culture

The Annual CASK Re-union held on 23rd Nov. @ Lobo River View was really one of the best celebrations we had in the recent years. The entire festival from 7 p.m. onwards brought memories of our ancient christian heritage, rich tradition & culture thru song, music & dance. The dedicated and devoted team under the leadership of R.C. Rodrigues – President, has organised so beautifully which is really admirable & fantastic. Hat’s off to the organisers & compeer Nayana Fernandes, Patsy Lobo & others who have done a commendable job. My hearty congratulations to each & every member of the CASK who were responsible to make this event a grand success. May God bless the CASK especially for the wonderful work they are doing to the suffering & neglected brethren of the Community. A Big thank you to our good friend Alphie D’souza for the excellent write-up. Frank M. Lobo “Sangeeth Vihar” Bejai.
