I agree with this article. In Canada, when I worked in the hospital, if you worked on Good Friday it was considered a Super Stat holiday, paid double time and a half. It was a big deal. Everything is closed pretty much. Now I am in the US, it is sad how it is not observed as a day off and just “another day”. At least they haven’t found a way to commercialize Good Friday, thank God for that. I guess they get their share from Easter.

State should legalise prostitution- say Mr.Atheist Original pai Sir,RSS chief says “Now the time has come when we have to tell the new generation to chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ (hail mother India). It also worship same Bharat Mata and chanted in its annual oath ceremony. The RSS’s top leadership comprises only bachelors. Its pracharaks or apparatchiks, who are full-time workers, are bound by the RSS’ code to remain unmarried and not have sex. RSS has about 2,500-3,000 pracharaks who form the backbone of its leadership. They wield tremendous influence within the organisation and over the various affiliated bodies including the BJP. The RSS is a hierarchical, rigid and top-down set-up. Its celibate apparatchiks are bound to support and propagate a worldview that’s patriarchal, authoritarian, sexist and anti-women. It’s high time for the RSS to take substantive and meaningful reforms and break away from 90-year-old practices such as adherence to celibacy and chastity that are vestiges of the ugly past. Don’t RSS leaders know that Hindu gods and goddesses were happily married and enjoyed a blissful family life? It’s high time the saffron warriors broke away from a 90-year-old practice that only serves as a vestige of the ugly, celibate past.Instead of legalising prostitution,I request the celibate to come forward and adopt them as a legal wife. Dear readers, What the BJP has to realize is that the kind of divisive policies which it routinely follows – Hindu vs Muslim, patriots vs traitors – appeals only to its rabid followers and are of little relevance to the average citizen. It is even possible that such tactics may prove to be electorally counter-productive for they show that the BJP has remained stuck in the days of rath yatras and riots during the Ramjanmabhoomi movement and that Modi’s sabka saath, sabka vikas slogan is meant more for public consumption than implementation in an atmosphere of social harmony. Why does the same law of sedation is not applicable to Sri Sri said, “Jai Hind and Pakistan Zindabad should go together. It should be a win-win situation for both sides. We should focus on winning and making the other also win.”?If chanting enemy nation in the presence of the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj one qualify to remain self-proclaimed spiritual guru?Does Indian constitution has special provision for spiritual guru? • From shAIKh mOhd rizwan on Murder of Vinayak Baliga - RTI Activist who Fought for Justice

Dear readers, Mahiti Adhikar Gujarat Pahel (MAGP), or Gujarat Initiative for Right to Information, and People’s Union of Civil Liberties(PUCL) have alleged that there is a “jungle raj” in Gujarat because of the state being on top of the list of murders of RTI activists and whistleblowers and on third position in the list of custodial killings. In a report released to media, MAGP representative Pankti Jog said that a total of 12 RTI activists had been murdered in the state since the implementation of RTI provisions in the state in 2005. Maharashtra ranks top in the number of attacks against, and murder of RTI activists. This indicate unholy nexus between corporates and politicians. http://www.firstpost.com/india/most-rti-activists-killed-in-maharashtra-since-law-came-about-gujarat-up-come-second-2424162.html The data, which has been compiled from news media reports over a decade, reveals that Maharashtra saw ten RTI activists being killed in as many years. Maharashtra also has the highest total number of such attacks, with 60 of attacks in the state. There is a need to amend the RTI Act to provide for the protection of those seeking information under the Act. The Asian Centre for Human Rights recommends that a separate chapter, “Protection of those seeking information under the(RTI) Act”, be inserted into the Act. Protection measures should include (a)mandatory, immediate registration of complaints of threats or attacks against RTI activists on the First Information Report and placing such FIRs before the magistrate or judge of the area within 24 hours for issuance of directions for protection of those under threats and their family members, and periodic review of such protection measures; (b)conducting inquiry into threats or attacks by a police officer not below the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police/Assistant Commissioner of Police, to be concluded within 90 days; and (c)trial of the accused within six months. Further, concerned Public Information Officers, First Appellate Authorities and those directly related with the information sought under the RTI Act should be presumed to have abetted the offenses against the RTI activists unless evidence proves otherwise. Ab ki baar Modi sarkar, freedom of expression is became choice between death or tag of ‘anti national’.It is Rohit Verumala before now Baliga fell for exposing corruption.Who is next? Jai Hind

It is very impressive to note that Sahyadri College at Adyar is so much advanced in so many areas of Environment studies, and now they have conducted a large Conference on World Water Day. Very important topic for any Educational Institute in India to become involved because Water is going to be the most important topic for the entire world to focus due to changing Climate. We had never realized that Sahyadri College is so deeply involved in so many important topics. Recently we had the opportunity to meet few of the bright students from Sahyadri College come all the way from Adyar to Dallas Forth Worth in order to take part in the Drone competition in the local Aeronautic College. Very impressive gesture on the part of Sahyadri to send a team of nine students and become involved with dozens of other Colleges in the U.S.A. and elsewhere and participate in the Competition. During our next visit to Mangalore a short trip to Adyar is in the planning, meanwhile best wishes to all the Organizers of Sahyadri College for all their initiatives that will benefit the students as well as the Country. ‘Dhanyawadh’

The USA is not officially a Christian country, but a secular nation. About 70% profess to be Christian. But only 25% regularly attend Church services. Besides, not all Christian denominations hold Good Friday services and many hold them in the evening after work. This means that only about 10-15% of the population attend church on Good Friday. Churches would not be packed even if it was a Holiday.

While India is wasting time on anti-national nonsense, the BJP plans to sign agreements which will make India a client state to the United States. It is shocking there is no national debate on such a momentous decision. Here is an analysis from Bharat Karnad. t is a devastating turn of events – the indication that the Bharatiya Janata Party government will soon sign the three so-called “foundational” accords with the United States that Washington has been fiercely pushing in the past decade. The Logistics Support Agreement (LSA) is first in line. The other two agreements are the CISMOA (Communications Interoperability and Security Memorandum of Agreement) and BECA (Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement for geospatial information and data). The trouble is these accords will mainly achieve for the US its grand strategic objective of reducing India, in effect, to a client state, like, well, Pakistan! It is a denouement the country had avoided in the Fifties and Sixties when it survived on US aid largesse and “ship to mouth” American PL 480 grain and, more recently, during the otherwise pliant dispensation of Manmohan Singh owing to the stonewalling by the Leftist defence minister, A.K. Antony. Why be beholden to a foreign power whose interests do not overlap with India’s, when the country can have distant and separate military presence in Mauritius and the East African littoral? Besides, the Indian military oriented to territorial defence, will nowhere utilize the far flung US bases and military resources as much as the more actively deployed US military units in the Indian Ocean and West Asia will use Indian bases. So, on balance which country’s interests does the LSA actually serve? There will, however, be a more telling fallout. A miffed Russia, already apprehensive about India’s increasing military closeness to the US and the West, may decide to shrink technology transfer and assistance programmes in the most sensitive and critical strategic armament areas, such as in developing a powerful highly enriched uranium-fueled nuclear power plant to run the second Kochi-built aircraft carrier, the 65,000 ton-class INS Vishal. Really crucial high value technology help is not, under any circumstances, something Washington will render for love or money. A sufficiently riled Moscow could virtually instantly bring the Indian conventional military, strategic forces, DRDO, and defence industry to its knees (and its senses?) by withdrawing its support and collaborative help. Then there’s the fact that US military presence on Indian soil will attract the attentions of jihadis and Islamist radicals, ranging from the al-Qaeda and Islamic State, to the garden variety terrorist outfits — Lashkar-e-Tayyaba, and its ilk, and their local offshoots. Because India will be responsible for the overall security of American military materiel and manpower in India, the central, state and local Indian government, police, and intelligence agencies will have their hands full trying to keep Americans and their property safe. And any shortfalls in security leading to successful terrorist attacks on American personnel and assets will blow up in New Delhi’s face. It is not certain the Modi government has considered any of the politico-military ramifications of signing the three agreements and their social impact, properly assessed the dire internal security risks of terrorists targeting the American presence, nor pondered the political and diplomatic costs and the debilitating effects of India being perceived in the world as an American appendage rather than as a proud and independent country and emerging great power in Asia to rival China. Is Pakistan considered the enemy of India? What about China and USA? If someone sends a message saying Jai China or Jai USA or God Bless USA, is it a punishable offence? What if someone wants o support Australian or West Indies players and says Jai Australia or Jai West Indies out of sheer admiration for the players of those country? Is sending Mangos to Pakistan President is anti-national gesture? I have Pakistani friends some of them admire Indian cricket players, Indian movies, Hindi songs and even like to live in India. Do we call them anti-nationals of Pakistan. What is more anti-national is not respecting the fellow citizen’s rights in a democratic country.

Roads are only constructed , along with it construct the footpaths for pedestrians along with it. Our cops are experts to collect fine. But they don’t dare to question the MCC or PWD Official for above problem. Its their responsibility of the cops to maintain road by consulting particular department about the issue of loop holes in the middle of the road and not only collecting fines. Next the RTO should enforce the quality of the helmet. In the accident took place at nanthoor though she was wearing helmet of ISI mark. What safety does it provided to the rider???

Teens spend time watching porn? Shocking!!! What a ground breaking news!! LOL Come on guys, even back in 80s, we had enough supply of hardcore porn literature available at local goodangadis!! Does anyone remember hardcore Surathi, Rativihaara to soft pornography of ‘Police Vaarthe” ???? The content varied from natural to highly perverted fantasies. LOL These magazines started their journey at local high schools and reached all the way to 4th standard kids!! It didn’t mean that these kids became sexually active. Trying to read and learn are the big part of natural curiosity in humans. Unlike in West, the lack of any privacy and strict supervision by parents/family friends provide a natural barrier to Indian teens from taking it too far. I do agree that women trafficking is a serious issue in countries like India. However, it is because of illegal nature of prostitution. State should legalize prostitution and regulate it to address all the human rights abuse that go on under current system.

I have called Police Control Room few times on Him. Called Kadri Traffic few times on Him Called Urwa Station once to stop Him and punish Him. Called once to RTO and told them about His high Db horn and rash driving. On Monday evening I have given this Bus No:KA19-AA 387 written on a paper and gave to Traffic Police in front of Police Commissioners Office. The reason was explained to Officer After all these complaints, this driver was still driving. I live in Germany from last 8 years, I know how the changes are happening. Non-Christian M.Eastern and N.African Migration is a biggest threat to EU. Writer has a very good foresight. Other reader commented here seems like not aware of global happenings and strategies of certian people. (Also please read who provocated Hitler to murder millions). In very few years some of the countries here in EU will become non-christian majority. Many of the Schools here have stopped pork product to School children. Christmas Holidays renamed to December Holidays. Just See how much increase in terror attack on EU ? only in the name of religion. The glory of Europe will be completly gone for ever in few years to come. Just for example see our J&K? do any tourist dare to go there ? Once we used to call it heaven of India. This article is true eye opener for real well wishers of EU. Others are just hate mongers.

SMR. Whether you are in the West or in the East there are good and bad people wherever you go. Hence, it is not about people, but about ideologies of those people who commit heinous crimes throughout history, and justify the same through their thoughts, what they think is right and through their ideologies. Please do some soul searching too, and STOP blaming every one else for ALL of your problems. If you really need to know the whole story a be an impartial judge of your convenience you should go way back to 622 to a city called Yathrib (renamed Medina) which is now in Saudi Arabia and read what an ideology can do and I quote “The country after country is destroyed just leaving orphans, widows and maimed”…oh I just heard some more people maimed in Belgium.

  • From Jay on Europe on the Brink

Western European leaders have signed the death warrants of their countries having taken in, and as they continue to take in thousands more immigrants from the Islamic world each year making their “Hijra” to Europe and demanding entry. Once these immigrants arrive in new lands very few of them become professionals, take real jobs and make an honest living, instead most of them live on handouts from the state which they gladly accept as “Jaziya” payments. The concept of Jaziya began in the city of Yathrib (Medina) and branched out through large parts of the world, where the “Kufaar” (Non-Muslims) are forced to make regular payments and made to feel subdued in line with the teachings of the Sharia, till the Caliphate was abolished about a 100 years ago. There were only 2 countries that broke away from the yoke of slavery, and they were Spain and India. With Europe’s population ageing and very few European babies born, the reality is Europe will become “Eurabia” within a few years. Then Europeans now have two choices: a. To kiss democracy goodbye as Sharia will be enforced. Muslims will pay Zakat which is 2.5% of their net savings, whereas non Muslims pay “Jaziya”. Jaziya payments could be excess of 50% or more of their gross income, or whatever the Caliph decides, or face the harshest consequences. b. Civil war

The government and authorities lack imagination and have displayed their lack of common sense by imposing a ban on plastic bags. They could have solved this problem by placing garbage bags at all convenient places and fine those not obeying the laws and throwing refuse on the streets and other places. This would have generated them much needed income for development and other purposes. When Almighty God was sharing wisdom and intelligence to humanity, the netas did not stand in the queue. However, in corruption they need not be trained. This is an inborn quality, which runs in their veins.

  • From B. N. Pai on Imposition of Devnagari to be Fought Tooth and Nail

Sir, I appreciate and fully agree with your concerns about Konkani language. I have one more point to add. In South Canara District Konkani is the mother tongue of Catholics and the GSB people. The Konkani spoken by the Catholics has not deviated from the Goan Konkani as much as the Konkani spoken by the GSB people has. But, the difference is so much that the Catholics and the GSB people would never talk inter alia in Konkani Language for obvious reasons. If the canara Konkani speaking communities mutually talk in Konkani as a matter of routine, Konkani would be more beautiful and much richer language, at the same integrating the departed fraternal communities more fully. So please try to make some concrete suggestions as to how best we can strive together to make every Konkani proud our language and common heritage. Thank you, Sir.

  • From Horny Manatee on Imposition of Devnagari to be Fought Tooth and Nail

Before going after other causes, first of all please go after all those posey Konkani Catholics in Mangalore, who can speak perfect Konkani but choose to answer in English even if the other person is trying to strike a conversation in Konkani. These people think Konkani is below their dignity and is socially inferior. The same people have availed all the services offered by the Konkani minority institutions over the years – for example many of these pretentious Mangalorean Catholics have availed free seats in MIT Manipal under Konkani quota but avoid talking in Konkani like a plague. They don’t think twice before betraying their mother tongue. The same people also have bias against Kannada. They think Kannada medium schools or Kannada language subjects are for lepers (trust me, I have gone through all this in my life). This mindset has to change or soon we run the high risk of losing these languages. Ironically, English which is the standard business language of the world has brought about this misery. I am not here to suggest for even once that we should shun English. There is absolutely nothing wrong in being proficient in more than one languages. Languages, along with their idioms, proverbs, phrases, history help a human mind to expand. People can grow up to be multi-faceted, resourceful personalities. We can be a scholar in English which can help our career or profession, at the same time we can also attempt to learn to speak our mother tongue in social circles. Learn Kannada because it is one of the highly sophisticated languages. You can involve yourself in mainstream political activities in the state. Tulu is unfortunately another language which is bearing this brunt of so-called modernisation of our society. For example people in Kundapur (may not be everyone) call Tulu as language of the lower caste. At the same time I am also not in favour of the fanatical nature of some of these regional associations dedicated for language protection. We see them in every State. They want their language to survive at the expense of other regional languages. People who speak other state languages are seen as enemies. That attitude is plain wrong. Embrace multiculturalism and pick the best aspects from everything. It will make your life more colourful.

Leaving aside the few cricketing playing countries, if one were to ask who is Virat Kohli in Argentina, I wonder if ppeope would know who he is.

The high increase in the kidney diseases seen now in India is due to the changed lifestyle of eating junk food and lack of exercise. It seems like the dialysis machine production in the world must be like the automobile production due to the number of sick people. My relative who is 70 now surviving due to the dialysis machine in Cochin said that he was surprised by the young people of 22 years and older suffering from kidney problems. In the U.S., the black people have a far higher percentage of kidney diseases, their diet in high level of animal fat will surprise us

  • From sHAIKh moHd rizwan on PM seeks opposition help in passage of GST, other bills

Dear readers, “Who was stalling economic progress all these years? Wasn’t it the BJP who was against computerisation during the Rajiv Gandhi’s time? Wasn’t it the same BJP which opposed reforms of Manmohan Singh during the Narasimha Rao government in the 1990s? Wasn’t it the same BJP which had called the Congress videshi and labelled itself swadeshi? And even in GST, wasn’t it the BJP which did not allow it to be passed all these years?… Now all of a sudden they have become pro-reforms… After the GST Bill was introduced in Parliament in March, 2011 by the then finance minister Pranab Mukherjee, it went to the standing committee on finance chaired by a senior BJP leader which gave its report two and half years later, after “undue” delay as Gujarat government and Modi were against it. “Everybody is opposed to the veto power of the Union Finance Minister. They asked for more time and said States’ autonomy and federalism will be destroyed (if we accept this bill). This is against the fiscal autonomy of the states. Majority of the states – BJP ruled states and others like UP, Tamil Nadu, Orissa and some others are also against it. Congress has sought a ceiling of 18 per cent, removal of additional one per cent tax and setting up of a judicial body and mechanism to address disputes between states and between state and the Centre. Why was the BJP opposing bills like FDI, GST, nuclear deal, etc. while being in opposition? Being in opposition interest of country is not important? PM Modi should tender unconditional apology to the nation for opposing every bill which opposed. Nation is slipping into the chauvinism, intolerance is recorded at all time high, why the PM Modi’s governement is not interested to pass the ‘Communal Violence Bill’? Jai Hind

A dynamic family of Albuquerques have given a great deal to the society of Mangalore. The next generation is equally blessed and we are confident that the torch of goodwill and dedication will continue in Mangalore because Albuquerque family is a great family worthy of being praised and applauded for all their dedication towards the people May Mrs. Octavia rest in peace. We met her personally at Gaitanjali in 2014 when she received the “Vishwa Ratna” Award. Seven days passed till media came to know about his whereabouts or that he is in England. There is no difference between Lalit Modi and Vijay Mallya, both of whom are in London and probably huddled together reminiscing about their fun and frolics and their escapades at a London Pub or at the bars in their homes. Both of them are having a fantastic and quality time with public money. Everything is bought with ill-gotten wealth be it house, car, tie, bow or under clothing. Many years ago when the octroi system existed, Highways used to pass through the cities so that the city corporations could garner some revenue. Nowadays these things are abolished. At many places such as sakleshpur, Hubli Dharwad, channarayapatna, Navalgund etc. , the NHAI has constructed bypass roads, but it is unfortunate that in a major city like mangalore all the trucks pass through the city with their hazardous cargo and the elected representatives (including the previous Highways minister) have no long term vision. A bypass road that connects the Industrial zone of panambur to the the major highways is the only solution.

One could go blue in the face and keep repeating yourself like a broken record, but still there will be always those from the minority community who intentionally try that guilt trip by making wild accusing statements in the hope that something will stick. Who is stereotyping whom? Who is justifying a statement made any MP? Explain. If the statement made by an MP a statement that is tantamount to “sedition”, then how do you describe what is happening in Kashmir? The MP made a statement which is wrong, but how many people were attacked, killed and raped in UK, and compare what is happening to Hindus in Kashmir. Hello, wake up smell the coffee YOUR ARE WATCHING LIVE TV for the last 30 years, and that is real action which is much, much worse. • From A. S. Mathew on Mangaluru: Rubber Growers' Suicide the most Worrying Issue - MLC Ivan D' Souza

Now the pain of the rubber growers has penetrated to the State of Karnataka too. The State of Kerala is producing 90% of the rubber production in India. India being the 3rd in rubber consumption in the world, the liberal import of rubber from countries like Malaysia-Singapore-Vietnam-Thailand to make the industrialists of India happy by the current Government makes the deplorable predicament of the rubber farmers all across India very critical. 11 lakh families in Kerala are directly and indirectly associated with the once money cow called ” rubber industry”; thus close to 50 lakh people are seriously affected economically. Several friends and relatives I know personally have stopped producing, yet another group is cutting down the trees and planting coffee, coco and other spices. Yet another group growing grass as cow grazing land for the cattle industry. The declining real estate value in Kerala is fundamentally associated with the rubber price; now added with another wind of plunged oil price. The declined oil price is another challenge. From oil, synthetic rubber can be produced for lower price. If the Government of India won’t take an affirmative action to curtail the import of rubber, we see no hope for the rubber growers in India. The demand from China is declining. Another paradox exhibited by the Government of India is the barricade of chicken from the U.S., the leg quarters in the U.S. is piled up by the millions of tons which can be sold for 1/3 of the current chicken price in India. But, to protect the chicken farmers, the Government of India won’t allow the import of U.S. chicken. What a double standard?

Dear readers, The population of India has reached over 1 billion people and is rising. The country is growing at an incredible pace. Its culture, social values, demographics and economy is rapidly changing, and these stresses are having an impact on the people. Some evidence suggests that there is an increasing use of illicit drugs and reported numbers point to over 3 million drug addicts in India. However, the World Health Organization does note that there is significant difficulty in estimating drug usage and addiction rates in the country due to poor bureaucratic processes and census reporting. Cannabis is an incredibly popular and widely used drug in India and is known as ganga, charas or bhang. India has a long history of cannabis use, and the drug is one of the five sacred plants mentioned in the Hindu texts, the Vedas. It is typically associated with the Hindu deity Shiva, who is believed to like the hemp plant. The drug is often smoked or drunk in a beverage at Hindu ceremonies. HIV is a significant issue for drug addicts in India with over 2.4 million people infected. This places India as the third-highest country in terms of rate of infection in the world. Injecting drug users making up nearly 10 percent of the affected groups. Evidence suggests that there is an increasing trend of Indian people using brown sugar heroin across all groups in society, from children as young as 13. It is not just a drug for the wealthy and elite.Accurate heroin addiction rates in India are unknown. However, there are over 1 million registered addicts, with estimates suggesting that the actual number may be as high as 5 million. Unlike in EU,there are no government approved rehabilitation centers.Today youths are become easy trap.Modi Government has already Cut the Budget Of Crucial Sectors like Social Pensions, Education, Health And More. The government has ordered a cut of nearly 20 percent in its 2014/15 healthcare budget due to fiscal strains, putting at risk key disease control initiatives in a country whose public spending on health is already among the lowest in the world. Despite rapid economic growth over the past two decades, successive governments have kept a tight rein on healthcare expenditure. India spends about 1 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) on public health, compared to 3 percent in China and 8.3 percent in the United States. In apparent to the trimming the health sector drastically, the Finance Ministry of Modi government withdrawn customs duty exemption goes, 76 life-saving drugs to get costlier. http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/as-customs-duty-exemption-goes-76-lifesaving-drugs-to-get-costlier/article8199658.ece For the Punjab government ruled by Shiromani Akali Dal a BJP alliance, the problem is hardly unknown.Three years ago, a state health official warned in a court affidavit that Punjab risked losing a whole generation to drugs. Roughly 60 percent of all illicit drugs confiscated in India are seized in Punjab.Once the basket of Indian State Finds Itself in Tight Grip of Addiction. Another Punjab BJP leader held in drug-trafficking case http://www.tribuneindia.com/news/nation/another-punjab-bjp-leader-held-in-drug-trafficking-case/126724.html On June 29, the Rajasthan Police arrested two senior leaders of the SAD-BJP alliance with 7.5 kg poppy husk at Pallu sub-tehsil in Hanumangarh district. The erring leaders were identified as Asafwala (Fazilka) block samiti member Vijay Kumar Kamboj (alias Daddi) and SAD block president (rural) Mahal Singh Rana. Both of them were booked under the NDPS Act. Their supporters Lekhram, Balbir Singh and Ved Parkash, all from Fazlika—the constituency represented by State Health Minister Surjit Kumar Jayani—were also booked. The drug money has become a major source of funding of elections in Punjab and over the time a well organized drug cartel has came into existence with active connivance of politicians, police officers and drug lords. This drug money is used in financing militancy. To check militancy we will also have to control the drug problem. This is another photo show. In one side of the mouth they are Calling God’s name. On the other side of the mouth they are cheating the public with fake. A) Mr Gopalkrishna is promising Malaria free city. Mosquitoes are breeding in Gutter next to MS Pai Store and opposite of City Hospital. More than a year I requested City Officials and even I brought them to site in my own vehicle. Still same. There are PG Hostels on banks of this creek and can be seen the beauty of it . Food Items are thrown by a restaurant and PG Kitchens, torn under garments and Clothing thrown in it including Sanitary napkins floating. Stink comes next to MS Pai store. He is speaking of defecation free Mangalore. A property belong to a politician family stinks with open Septic Tank and flowing Sewer in side the property along with garbage. From 12 years and 5 Mayors, I along with all surrounding families requested the Health Department of MCC. Still no use. Forget about building new toilets. Maintain the ones MCC has. Just Public should look at the Toilets inside MCC Building Complex, specially the one in front of the Canteen and next to Tulu Sahitya Office. Excise department is suggesting more bars to open. So Poor can spend some more in bars drinking Mysore Lancers or Windsor. One Corporator is MISSING from the show. Also MIssing is big Banner. Mr M Bawa MLA is talking big about Poor. Wish He will drive from Neermarga to Valachil and look at the beauty of Swachaa Bharath. Mini Moodshedde garbage dump is near Srinivas College Front, in Valachil. MS Manjula,Health Officer of Zilla Panchayath has seen this garbage dump herself along with Myself and PDO of Neermarga. His area is problem ridden and He do not even care but worried about poor. There are no street lights for Poor Public to walk in night time. But He installed 3 high Mast light poles burning 3000 watts where they are not needed. Hardly anyone walk that area during nights. He installed them just before Panchayath Election.

  • From Jay on Shocking and Irresponsible Statement by MP Anant Kumar Hegde - Ibrahim Kodijal

“In India people have been living with freedom of practicing one’s own religion. These hate speeches are just given to incite communal violence in the society” Great statements, and extremely well said and they would be welcomed by a vast majority of Indians, as ALL would like to live in peace. But here is what I would ask of you, if you are really serious about what you said about living in freedom practicing one’s own religion, and condemning all those who incite communal violence. It is very simple, just have a press conference and remind those Kashmiri separatist (as they have ALL seem to have forgotten) that Islam is a religion of Peace, and their religion has nothing to do with terrorism. Just imagine how apologetic, and profoundly sorry they will all be, desperately wanting to seek redress by sending huge convoy’s to Delhi to bring ALL the Pundits back, as they too deserve to live like you in peace and freedom. To the best of my knowledge not one Muslims from UK was displaced, attacked, beaten, killed or raped as in the case of Kashmiri Pundits. Don’t you think that they too would also like to live in peace and in freedom practicing their own religion in Kashmir. Just as you have condemned Hegde you should condemn ALL separatist, supporters of Pakistan & IS. I know you have no control over them, but you and your cohort could at the very least condemn them. If the separatist do not get your message, you could seek your army of volunteers (some I see are already on to the streets protesting) who could assist in a small or big way of bringing the pundits back. They have lived for generations in Kashmir, and have actually been driven out of their home and are languishing in refugee camps for 30 years. I can assure you that this will make a change in how we view each other, and an overwhelming number of Indians from all walks of life will march with you hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder if you could ONLY apply what you said equally to ALL Indian people. Besides, remembering the golden rule to treat ALL people the same way you want to be treated, you will not to be accused of double standards. If not, yours are only hollow words and ALL you are only asking is to live freedom practising your religion, but you do not allow others the same privilege.

It’s a good idea. I don’t know what kind of genius came up with ‘mini’ in the first place!!-Atheist Mr.Original Pai Sir,Two times BJP president and the current Home affairs minister Rajnath Singh stirred a controversy when he made a comment about how use of English language was destroying not only ‘our’ culture, but was seriously harming India as a country. And of course as happens in any political rally, he got some solid applause. Rajnath Singh slams English language Rajnath Singh’s kids are English Vinglish, When it comes to his home and children, BJP chief Rajnath Singh does not seem to have much of a problem with English or Western ways of life.He had sent his younger son, Neeraj, to study abroad, and his daughter Anamika worked in the United States. While RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has come to his defence, academics and litterateurs have a different take.Who himself embroiled in controversy saying Rapes occur in ‘India’, not in ‘Bharat’. Now PM Modi is so mesmerised with British word of ‘India’, he is launching his new product like ‘Digital India’,’Make-in India’,startup India”Stand up India’.Now one marketing tool called ‘resurgent India’ to empower women of India for which RSS supremo linked to rape. They worship ‘Bharat Mata’, name every product to British ‘India’,where is the RSS political wing BJP ‘nationalism’ gone? Jai Hind

  • From Jay on Remarks against Islam by BJP MP, Muslims hold Uttara Kannada Bandh

“BJP MP Ananth Kumar Hegde in which he implied that to end terrorism, Islam should be finished off” Speaking provocatively against any religion is wrong, and no one should be allowed to do it. But calling for “bandh” to collectively punish their fellow citizens for comments made by someone whom they do not have any control over does not make any sense. If Hegde reiterated his position why didn’t the authorities question him? Why didn’t senior party members not caution him, and make him apologise for his comments? This is my understanding of Bandh’s: Before independence Bandh’s were called by the Indian National Congress, as a form of non violent protest against British rule. They demonstrated to the British the strength of the Indian leaders and the Indian people, the message was loud and clear the Brits could not rule over India, if the Indians refused to co-operate. Besides they hurt their sources of revenue. Hence, the Brits got the message and Congress leaders were arrested and thrown into jail. Interestingly, an RSS supporter in our forum has assumed that the Congress encouraged this Bandh, and here is what I have to ask of him. Before independence there were 2 other (pseudo) political parties RSS and Muslim League, I can’t recall any of their top leaders that were ever jailed by the British – NOT ONE. Since not a single one went to jail, this means they either co-operated with the British, or they remained neutral to the freedom struggle. Till date both these parties (that are mirror images of each other) and their supporters are creating a havoc against the Indian people, but yet they continue to blame everyone else other than themselves. But after independence the Bandh is continued to be used by ALL, but whom are they punishing, themselves and the Indian people? School children were deprived of school? Every one lost money the State (additional police), Exchequer (taxes) and Individual business owners, especially those who sold perishable goods like fish, meat and produce. What about the sick and elderly who perhaps needed urgent medical attention?

“It may seem odd that the Jains who did everything possible to avoid hurting animal and insects, built armies to defend from or fight against the neighboring kingdoms” writes Manga. True – Manga is right – Jain kings weren’t different from other kings as they had to defend their territories. However, here is where Manga and other anti-intellectual groups go wrong. Jain kings built armies out of necessity, not because they were influenced by Jain scriptures. The same thing goes with Buddhist societies who built strong armies. You can’t compare these armies to armies built by ‘expansionist religions’ and the religious scriptures. There were groups who went around the world, attacking and destroying local cultures as dictated by those scriptures. Those religious scriptures asked the followers to confront, destroy or convert ‘others’ as they didn’t recognize ‘other’ gods!! Not all religions are ‘expansionist’ in nature and Manga will never admit this simple truth.

Recreational drugs should be made legal. It’s quite common to see people brag about their taste and appreciation towards various alcoholic drinks. In fact, it has become fashionable to consume alcohol these days. No office party or celebrations are complete without these drinks. Why are we complaining about weed? Do you know which one is more dangerous – Alcohol or Pot ? Come on, folks – We can’t brag about our ‘pub culture’ and complain about another less dangerous drug!!! Time to grow up and see the reality. I’m all for educating the dangers of addiction. But, this double standards when it comes to pot is quite honestly silly at best.

A drop of amrita (heavenly nectar) fell from the sky and a sacred cannabis plant sprouted on the spot. Lord Siva brought the cannabis plant down from Mount Mandara for the pleasure of Mankind and for this the plant was consecrated to him [Siva].” –

Dear readers, Home Minister defended Smriti Irani junior HRD minister Ram Shankar Katheria allegedly inflammatory speech despite documentary evidence. Now suppose to be guidance of Hindu religion, famous for political speeches this Swamiji is BJP MP Hegde hate comments. Hindus hold Sanatana Dharma to be the fullest expression of religion, and do accept sincere souls who seek entrance into Hinduism. Elaboration: When discussing other religions, Hindu leaders often quote a verse from the Rig Veda (1.164.46): “Ekam Sat, viprah bahudha vadanti,” meaning “Truth is One, sages describe it variously.” It conveys a core Hindu idea: that there can be multiple valid viewpoints about the Supreme. And whenever the mind unsteady and restless strays away from the Spirit, let him ever and forever lead it again to the Spirit. Thus joy supreme comes to the Yogi whose heart is still, whose passions are peace, who is pure from sin, who is one with Brahman, with God. The Yogi who pure from sin ever prays in this harmony of soul soon feels the joy of Eternity, the infinite joy of union with God. -Bhagavad Gita 6:26-28 It is unfortunate in India Spiritual leaders became medium of hate and victim of vote bank politics. In recent days we have seen many self styled Godman embroiled business of religion exposed. Some even worshiped ‘Gow mata’ and found in rape charges. Some made their worshiper levitating and found himself levitating with actress.Someone else made crowd with his Nagin dance caught exploiting his disciple for self need. Some even build their self styled military myth. Excellent, informative and motivating article by the author–addiction to drugs and alcohol is surely on the rise in big cities where many educational institutions sprung up- and Mangalore is one of them. Until the police are non-corrupt this problem will continue no matter what? More awareness programmes and constant vigil by parents on their children will control the rise of these addictions.

I was watching the T-20 match between India and Bangladesh day-before-yesterday when the latter had piled up 120 runs in just 15 overs and Indians had to score it within that number of overs. From the beginning, the Bangladeshis held Indians by the leash and the asking rate was quite high At the fall of the second wicket, in comes Mahendra Singh Dhoni and in just six balls scores 20 runs (strike rate of 330) with two sixers and one four and wins the match. The moment Mahendra Singh Dhoni entered and started scoring, the Bangladeshi spectators at the Shere-e-Bangla stadium were shocked, crestfallen and with profuse sweating and the paint from the bodies of those Bangladeshis who looked like starving tigers, got messed up or faded. Any game is a matter of winning or losing and one should take the outcome of the game with grace and dignity.

  • From Mangal on St Mary’s Heritage Club Visits Archaeological Site at Barkur

It is heartening to hear that the school has a Heritage Club, and the club members visited the historical areas of Barkur. Congratulations to the Principal Myrtle L F Lewis, coordinator Roopa Ashok, and the unnamed members of the heritage club. Barkur was a significant port since ancient times. Possibly was used by the seafarers when Julius Caesar was in power. If I am not mistaken, it was one of the ports used by the Arabs to deliver horses to the Indian kingdoms, including the Vijayanagar Empire. About 700 years ago the Moroccan traveller Ibn Battuta visited Barkur. He called the place Faknoor. The Moroccan would have used a few Tulu words. Around the time of his visit, many of the Tulu ruling chieftains were Jains. Most local temples would have served as Jain temples. As we know, slowly and steadily the influence of Jainism diminished in Tulunadu. It may seem odd that the Jains who did everything possible to avoid hurting animal and insects, built armies to defend from or fight against the neighbouring kingdoms. But that is all part of history, much of which, unfortunately, has been completely ignored by a majority of the people. The “majority of people” will rather spend their time and energy participating in various morchas and protesting against something or the other. They are very busy now, putting all their energies in identifying the many “anti-nationals”.

Alongside Mallya, all those SBI and other bank officials who were involved in sanctioning those big loans against his bloated falsified asset collaterals also should be locked up for 25 years. It takes two to tango. I am sure those bank officials had taken massive backhanders for this loan amount approval. PSU banks in India are run like rural moneylenders without due diligence and that’s how Mallya got away with such a massive loan just because he was famous back then. If you and I defaulted on even Rs. 50,000 loan SBI would have hounded us like criminals where as this man is walking freely in the public. What astonishes me even more is that many people support his IPL team without giving it a second thought. If it were to happen in the West, people’s activism would have deposed Mallya from RCB ownership long time ago but nobody seems to care in India. And these followers are well-educated stooges who should know these things. General public may be ignoring this matter but what they should realise is that public sector banks are owned by the public which means those bank’s liability is public’s liability which means that owed money will be extracted from the public through taxation. Since it does not happen directly people seem to think it does not matter to them.

May be, they are referring to sanaathana dharma followers who are constantly attacked in both media and political circles with a threat of ‘hate speech’ cases? Yea – right!!!! I am just being sarcastic if you haven’t noticed it already!! A quick look at this ‘commission’ tells you everything you need to know about them. It also explains why ‘Beef Club’ members want this commission to visit India and write a scathing, biased report. Here is an important section from wikipedia for illiterates on this forum: “USICRF report drew criticism from the Indian press. The Pioneer, in an editorial termed it as “fiction”, “biased”, and “Surpassing Goebbels”. It criticized USCIRF for projecting the massacre of 58 Hindu passengers as an accident. It also accused USCIRF of indirectly justifying murder of Swami Lakshamananda Saraswati, a Hindu cleric and social activist.[14] An analysis of USCIRF 2014 report criticizes USCIRF for promoting religious discord between Hindus and Buddhist, white-wash terror acts, and falsely blaming a Monk for Bodh Gaya bombings [15] Christian leaders in Odisha defended India: Archbishop Raphael Cheenath stated that India remained of a secular character, the president of the Odisha Minority Forum that, despite a small hate campaign against minorities, the majority of society had been “cordial and supportive”, and the Orissa Secular Front that, despite the 2002 and 2008 riots, India had a strong secular foundation.[16] The Commission has also been accused of being biased towards focusing on the persecution of Christians, and of being anti-Muslim. A former policy analyst, Safiya Ghori-Ahmad, has filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, alleging that she was fired because she was a Muslim and a member of an advocacy group, the Muslim Public Affairs Council” LOL LOL LOL LOL

Agreed, that a majority of Hindus are a tolerant people, but please refrain from painting ALL minorities with a broad brush. In Indian politics religion, race, cast and region have been exploited by ALL political parties and their allies. So let’s stop blaming others and do, NO ONE comes clean here. In short let’s us agree to disagree. If India has to survive and thrive as a country we need to build bridges of love, not walls of distrust.

Mr. Jay I agree with your comments. Religion should be confined to ones homes and temples of worship. For the vote bank politics, it is the politicians and political parties who indulge in vote bank politics and garner votes by talking in religious terms and creating quotas for backward castes, other backward castes, scheduled and backward classes, etc. There are millions of Indians who lack education, are illiterate, semi-literate or oafs, who fall a prey to these sleazy politicals’ ploys. All religious institutions like RSS, VHP, christian, muslim and other institutions should only indulge in charity work and not indulge in politics and being idealogues for certain political parties and spewing hate and venom.

  • From sHAIKh moHd rizwan on Sirsi: BJP MP Ananthkumar Hegde booked for alleged remarks against Islam

Dear readers, As BJP MP for making ‘blasphemous and insulting remarks’ against Islam and Muslims,Haryana BJP government who bowed to Jat violence is slowly saffronising cities, roads and airport after Hindutva. In a latest move,BJP government in Haryana has changed the name of Mustafabad village in Yamunanagar district to Saraswati Nagar. BJP govt renames Yamunanagar’s Mustafabad to Saraswati Nagar http://www.hindustantimes.com/punjab/bjp-govt-renames-yamunanagar-s-mustafabad-to-saraswati-nagar/story-LS75hjoyANZm7ffnk6Hi6H.html When the BJP rode to power in Haryana for the first time ever last year, riding on the crest of a Modi wave and a development agenda, it gave no hints that it would take steps to push Hindutva, soft or otherwise. A year on, Manohar Lal Khattar’s government appears to have made it a top priority. Khattar, who was barely known in the state as a BJP leader, remained behind the scene as an RSS pracharak for long. A close associate of Narendra Modi, who was in-charge of Haryana affairs before moving to Delhi, Khattar, together with two senior party colleagues, Anil Vij, a five-time MLA, and Ram Bilas Sharma, has now begun a not-too-subtle agenda to promote Hindutva. In Khattar’s Haryana, Roads Being Renamed After Hindutva Symbols http://www.thequint.com/opinion/2015/12/24/in-khattars-haryana-roads-being-renamed-after-hindutva-symbols His latest move is to name all major roads and traffic intersections in Panchkula – which was built as an extension of Chandigarh – after Hindutva symbols. Chandigarh’s planner Le Corbusier had mandated that the city’s roads, roundabouts and crossings should not be named after any person or an institution, and be given generic names as Madhya Marg, Jan Marg and Sukhna Path. Taking the cue, no roads in Panchkula too were named after a person or an institution. Adding to its list of promoting Hindutva symbols and eulogising the RSS, the state government recently suggested naming the new International Airport in Chandigarh after late Dr Mangal Sein, a top RSS pracharak and former Haryana deputy chief minister. Supreme Court said Ganga cleansing programmes have been going on for over three decades with almost no impact on the ground and wondered whether the government wanted to do something during this tenure or would it spill over to the next term PM Modi’s government. While Ganga is yet be cleaned,Haryana BJP is digging the ground for lost mythical Sarasvati river investing Rs 50 crores, when its own BJP ruled Maharashtra farmers suicide rate touched all time high. In other hand Modi is projecting ‘make in India’ ‘digital india’ and ‘smart india’,in real world development only hindutva is full swing. This government as no aspiration towards pro-poor.But only taking orders from Nagpur to implement Hindutva ideology in every available opportunity. Jai Hind

  • From sHAIKh moHd rizwan on Bengaluru: Farmers protest causes traffic chaos in State Capital

Dear readers, Is the PM Modi’s government finally saying sorry to farmers and rural India? Yes, if you go by the slew of Budget announcements for the benefit of both. For nearly two years, both were a marginal presence in the government’s grand plan for the country’s economic revival. While all its talk revolved around headline-grabbing big ticket investments, multi-billion dollar projects and making India an attractive destination for global money, the farmers suffered in silence. The government was throwing platitudes but hardly looked serious about them. The big takeaway from the budget is the apparent shift in the government’s attitude. Perhaps it has learnt its lesson. It realises that it cannot be arrogant and dismissive of rural India and, at a more general level, cannot have a economic worldview that is perceived to be anti-people. At least ten farmers have killed themselves every day, on average, for a straight ten years in the rich state of Maharashtra. Nation-wide the farm suicides total nears the 300,000-mark, as the data of the National Crime Records Bureau show. Maharashtra crosses 60,000 farm suicides https://ruralindiaonline.org/articles/maharashtra-crosses-60000-farm-suicides/ With 2,016 reported cases of farmers committing suicide till the end of September, the current year has earned the dubious distinction of seeing the highest number of farmer suicides in the past five years. http://indianexpress.com/article/cities/pune/pune-2016-farmer-suicides-in-the-state-till-sept-the-highest-in-last-five-years/#sthash.dut2rBkZ.dpuf The careful selection of venue as Belgaum in Karnataka,to address the needs of farmers and tell them about Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana seems like BJP wanted pit farmers against ruling state congress. Mr Modi is offering financial assistance to Mongolia, aid to Africa. This is a government that is both at the center and state but unable to provide assistance to poor farmers. They gave agrarian reason for ‘beef ban’ in BJP ruled state and took ‘pink revolution’ to highest exporter in the world. While ‘Gow mata’ is continued to serve the dinnings around the world, farmers are ending life consuming ‘pesticide’ BJP MP Gopal Shetty has attributed farmers’ suicides to a “fashion” and “trend” to end lives. http://www.hindustantimes.com/india/bjp-mp-says-it-s-fashionable-for-farmers-to-commit-suicide-sparks-row/story-FQwtcn4Pq3Ro9IDiCFp5OI.html How does deficit of rainfall will cover the farmers by this insurance proportionate to the land tilled by the farmers? If there is a bumper crop, how does the farmers ensured of his return to his investment and efforts? Does government will be able to provide stabilized price formula? As we all know how insurance schemes are working. The claimant can be only possible after the loss. But in this government is failed to address the loss first.Prevention is better than cure.Modi government has emphasis to cover the losses not prevention. Finally why BJP has not selected Maharashtra has venue to launch insurance scheme? Is this agitation is something to do with politics using farmers to target after wrist watch controversy? Jai Hind

What does our Rampu say about this? http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-35638170 A week is a long time in politics, and what happened in India last week has not exactly covered Narendra Modi’s government in glory. Many believe the government whipped up needless nationalist hysteria by sending the police into the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and arresting students under India’s discredited colonial-era sedition laws. It levelled allegations against the students on the basis of an allegedly doctored video and a fake tweet. An unapologetic commissioner of police actually asked the students to prove their innocence. As if this was not enough, Mr Modi maintained a baffling silence over the shameful attack on students and journalists by party-backed lawyers inside and outside a court. A lot of this violence happened within a mile of Mr Modi’s office and his home ministry office. Elsewhere, journalists and lawyers working in the Maoist-affected areas of BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh state were forced to pack up and leave, allegedly under pressure from the authorities.

RSS Pai Duplicate, no one expects anything better from you. You and your RSS are busy making infuriating speeches against Muslims, so that they would react in defence. This reaction, procured by you by insulting the Muslims, would polarise Hindus to provide Hindu Vote bank to ensure electoral victory in the ensuing elections to the Karnataka Assembly to the BJP. You want Congress Mukta Bharat by defeating the Congress in Karnataka. You would make Hindu BHarat, and make Bharath “Islam Mukt and Cristian Mukt”! RSS also wants the government of Karnataka to file cases against the religious crooks like Anantha Kumar, for it would brand the Congress government as pro-Muslim anti Hindu. The very same RSS which even goes to extremist separatist fringe elements in Kashmir, like Mehboobaa Mufti, to politically hug her party, so that they could form a government there. For that they are joining hands with anti India elements. They are preaching anti-Islam mentality in Hindu Majority areas and indulging in pro-Muslim and pro-Christian actions where Hindus are in minority. Modi has stationed RSS leader Ram Madhav in Srinagar to woo Mehbooba Mufti, in spite of her demanding the dead body of Afzal Guru to construct a memorial to him in Kashmir! Shameless creatures who are up to anything to procure vote for political power, including betraying the Hindus, as they do in Kashmir. They ban beef in Hindu majority states and encourage beef in Hindu minority states like Goa, Meghalaya, Arunachal PraDESH, ETC. ALL FOR POLITICAL POWER AND NO AT ALL FOR THE HINDUS OR THE COUNTRY. Both Houses of the Parliament witnessed repeated disruptions over Katheria’s remarks as proceedings began today, a day after the Budget. While Irani is targeting campus after campus using ‘anti national’,his deputy is asking Hindus to arm and take revenge to convert ‘Agra into Muzaffarnagar’. In the city of love, Agra, so much hatred is spread. The man preaches hate, wants to divide the country on communal lines, calls own country men [Muslims] as ‘enemy’ and he is still a UNION MINISTER! Incredible India. This is happening in a supposedly evolved and great democracy like India. All institutions seem paralysed. Do we hear Union ministers giving call for violence against minorities in any other neighbouring country, even those nations that are notorious. The Centre should have taken immediate steps after he attended the meeting and made the inflammatory, criminal speech. This man should have been dropped from Union cabinet immediately. In fact, Ram Shankar Katheria should have been arrested by now. *Will sedition case be registered against him by Akhilesh government? *Will Prime Minister Narendra Modi take action against Katheria for hate speech? *Will National Commission for Minorities (NCM) take action? For, unlike other patriots like Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Ashfaqullah, who refused to ask the British Raj for mercy even at the cost of their lives, Savarkar, the father of the BJP’s Hindutva ideology, had actually sought clemency while lodged in Andamans’ Cellular Jail. Savarkar’s letter asking for forgiveness dated November 14, 1913 is reprinted in a book, Penal Settlement In Andamans, published by the Gazetteers Unit of Union ministry of education. Savarkar went on to add, ”Moreover, my conversion to the constitutional line would bring back all those misled young men in India and abroad who were once looking up to me as their guide. I am ready to serve the government in any capacity they like, for as my conversion is conscientious so I hope my future conduct would be. By keeping me in jail, nothing can be got in comparison to what would be otherwise. The Mighty alone can afford to be merciful and, therefore, where else can the prodigal son return but to the parental doors of the government.” L K Advani names Andamans airport after Veer Savarkar.Had the bodyguard and the secretary but testified in court, Savarkar would have been convicted.Savarkar escaped the gallows. Many years later, the BJP had his portrait hung in Parliament House beside in Father of nation Mahatma Gandhi. Some followers want to build temple for Nathuram Godse. Let our Original and ABVP former president of Delhi university explain the roll of RSS is treachery of not? Can they name single person from RSS who participated in India’s freedom struggle behind Gandhi and died for India’s freedom struggle? Jai Hind

  • From sHAIKh moHd rizwan on Udupi: Jewellers' Association calls for Three-day Bundh against Hike in Excise and Customs Duty on Gold

Dear readers, An RTI application by The Indian Express led to startling disclosures on Monday about bad debts of Rs 1.14 lakh crore written off by 29 state-owned banks between financial years 2013 and 2015 – much more than in the preceding nine years. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) showed that bad debts that stood at Rs 15,551 crore for the financial year ending March 2012, climbed to Rs 52,542 crore by end-March 2015. The RBI did not report details of the biggest defaulters – individuals or business entities – whose bad debts of Rs 100 crore or more were written-off, arguing that “the required information is not available with us”. It would have helped the manufacturing sector, which despite the government rhetoric, is far behind China. But propaganda has displaced real statistics. The perilous state of the public sector banks also indicate that we are far from Make in India. The amount of loss, that is Rs 3.29 lakh crore is much more than the Rs 1.86 lakh crore in case of the coal scam and Rs 2 lakh crore in the 2G scam. Further, this is actual loss and not opportunity loss as in the case of coal and 2G scams. So public money of enormous amounts has been written off. The rich are relieved because huge funds investible for the poor are lost. As French novelist Balzac wrote, “Behind every great fortune there is a crime.” The real slogan in India should not be Make in India. “Make believe in India” would be more accurate. Sab ka saath, saath sabka vikas. These goldsmiths are the key sponsors of PM Modi’s BJP during 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Now became part of ‘make believe in India’ shining coffers of PM Modi’s debt ridden government which has only ‘bullet train’ to show. Dear readers, In PM Modi’s every third MP in the 16th Lok Sabha has criminal charges.Party-wise, the largest 98 or 35 percent of the 281 winners from the BJP have in their affidavits declared criminal cases against themselves and six of the 37 winners (16 percent) from the AIADMK, 15 of the 18 winners (83 percent) from the Shiv Sena ally of BJP. While PM Modi is globetrotting hard selling his dream project of ‘Make in India’ ,’Digital India’ ‘smart India’,his sangh affiliated bad mouth MP’s are barking man-ki-baat every now and then. Earlier it is Sadhvi,Yogi, baba are known for bad mouth syndrome, know new entrain from Uttara Kannada district has joined the club. PM Modi’s ‘minimum government, maximum governance’ full of unique characters. While PM performs ‘Maun yoga’ ,his cabinet colleagues busy to vitiate peaceful environment of the region. In the past under Karnataka BJP Home ministry Late Acharya connected Bhatkal city name to every terrorism in the state. There are many innocent Muslim still languishing in jail without any charges. Now as the election approaching for 2018 assembly elections BJP has already taken the RSS high command instructions seriously and sharpen the attack on Congress with JD(S). This is nothing but an attempt to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere to polarise the majority vote bank. As the Sangh parivar has succeeded in undivided Canara by keeping the pot boiling the experiment is shifted to north Canara. Is this PM Modi’s real development agenda? Is this MP is part of ‘Good governance’? Jai Hind

What a shame and national tragedy is this, a bunch of street rowdies are running the nation as M.P.s, Ministers etc, throwing totally destructive statements. India has the 2nd largest Muslim population in the world, 177 million people, out of the world’s 2nd largest population of 1.6 billion people. If he is not kicked out of the BJP and put him jail for a few years for his totally stupid and deeply hurting statement, it is a total shame and disgrace on the BJP. Beef handlers are put into jail for 10 years in Haryana, so he deserves more than that. Mr. M.P., how you will classify the VHP-BD- and a bunch of senas etc terrorizing the minorities in India? Holy Organizations indeed! The Muslims nations of the world, especially the nearby GCC countries are watching these reckless statements of the BJP politicians, and they will be punishing India some way through applying punitive actions.

“Politics is certainly good, but not vote-bank politics. If the entire Hindu community in India had decided to be communal, the Christians, Muslims and Sikhs would not have been safe. Thanks be to God… the majority of Hindus in India are secular” I concur with the Cardinal as people around the world have used religion in small and big ways. When religion and politics are combined it is recipe for disaster. It becomes a complete disaster when the leader becomes a 4 in 1, or rather an all in one. He is the head of Religion, he is the head of State, he is the head of the military, he is the Chief Justice & what he says is final, and if you disagree with him – you are toast. What is worse is there are several people around the world are constantly trying to emulate him, as they consider him the most perfect man the world has even seen.

  • From Max and Jessie Rasquinha on Mangaluru: International Conference on Human Rights at Roshni Nilaya

HUMAN RIGHTS is an important topic in these fast changing times where rich is getting richer and poorer getting more poorer. Wealth is a strength in this world of materialism, and expert Economists predict that within a short time almost one percent of the rich world population will be equivalent to ninety nine percent of the rest. In fact, this is one of the main topic raised as an important issue during the current Election trend in the United States. Human Rights plays an important role when the world is so deeply in involved in our culture, our affluence, our religion and most importantly our race and color. We therefore wish to congratulate Roshni Nilaya to sponsor a Seminar on HUMAN RIGHTS that will create additional awareness of all the dangers ahead of us. One of the most important point that we need to focus is on the importance of Education that will be able to combat all evils and dangers attached to Human Rights. So long as one is capable to achieve the basic Education he or she will automatically understand the intricacies of Human Rights so that with the benefit of Education each and everyone of us can defend ourselves from all external threats on the misuse of Human Rights. Please therefore emphasize the importance of Education in all your messages to the World on Human Rights.

Nice concept to bring awareness on Drug addiction and alcohol addiction among people, especially youth. But just one day awareness program with a coverage in the media will not solve the problem- the organizers need to follow up on this awareness programme, and report to law enforcement officials if they see any illegal drug activities etc etc-that’s the only way we can solve this drug and alcohol problems. Those who engage in political assassination or violence due to political difference are criminals. Those who raise ‘pakistan zindaabad’ or call for india’s destruction are traitors, anti-nationals. If you hate BJP because you love Congress, then you are not an anti-national. On the other hand, there are hundreds of thousands of people living in India who hate sanaathana dharma and Modiji because they secretly love Pakistan. It is anti-national behavior. Is it clear now?

Such things don’t happen in all third-world or fourth-world countries. They happen only in immature democracies like India and other military regimes. We boast of largest democracy in the world, but we should be ashamed of our democracy where elected officials and law enforcement authorities resort to undemocratic means to punish the victims of government lethargy and inefficiency instead of solving their genuine problems. Unless we improve, we will always remain a third-world country and the blame for our sorry state of affairs lies entirely with our functionally illiterate leaders and corrupt officials.

Who is “infantile” has been thoroughly exposed by the following: 1. “This is why India continues to be a third world country!!” (That sentence HAS to be used by somebody in every second sentence of every 3rd post or so. 2. I ask him why his Boddanna prints currency without adequate collateral and he rambles on and on about CENTO and Petro$’s. 3. Even the POTUS said (after a gunman opened fire at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College, killing nine people and injuring seven) – “The reporting is routine,” Obama said. “My response here at this podium ends up being routine, the conversation in the aftermath of it. We’ve become numb to this.” and our IGNORAMUS stands on a rooftop and calls it “an ISOLATED INCIDENT”. And then, I had to show him – There have been 355 mass shootings in 2015 alone. In 2015, there have been more mass shootings than days.”. 4. I ask our beloved Deepika Shettre – “ಈರ್ ಎಪಾ ಸುಪ್ರೀಮ್ ಕೋರ್ಟ್ ಚೀಫ್ ಜಸ್ಟೀಸ್ ಆತಿನಿ?” (when Deepika said “Now, those who are not satisfied with Afzal’s trial must be hanged within one day” and our Rampa accuses me of HATING Sanathana Dharma and its followers. This is why India continues to be a third world country!! Why and when did calling a minister over issue become a crime? Knowing the arrogance of our ministers and elected officials, one can easily guess who first used the abusive language!!! Even if abusive language was used by both parties, how does it qualify to be a crime? In a mature democracy, police wouldn’t break into a house and grab an individual simply because he got frustrated and placed a call to a minister!! In a mature society, media wouldn’t give a pass to this abuse of power by both minister and police dept. Then again, standards are very different in a third world country!!!
