  • From sas on Mangaluru: JP Hegde Carried Out Development Through Congress Party - Ramanath Rai

I agree with Ram that a decent and honest politician with firm conviction and vision and is driven to serve the people he represents irrespective of his/her party affiliation. It is not the party that does the work, it is the work of honest and hard working people that brings credit to the party they represent. Unfortunately, we have very few stalwarts of that character in Congress party today and most of them use the party platform to further their interest.

The street vendors dont have any rentals or corporation taxes to pay. Niether they have to hire staff or pay electricity bills. Also these road side vendors are evading Commercial taxes ,hence able to sell cheap.

JP Hegde will carry out development as well work where ever he goes regardless any party ! it is not party matter , it is an individuals effort/ commitment representing people to get the maximum benefits from the state as well central government of india, there are too many old people in congress over 30-40 years doing nothing and enjoying party money with couple of groups ! that’s all …… they dont bother at all what our udupi/ dk needs as a basic infrastructure like agricultural/ employment/ roads/ housing for poor people/ good policy / good governance / good law and order etc

I am sorry I tried to open the correct box a few times, but it did not open and, therefore, I am responding here. Sometimes, when one tries to respond, it is all Tom and Jerry. Mr. Shaikh Mohd. Rizwan, For your kind information, Pakistan came into existence only on 14.08.1947 and before that it was India. If you still insist that L.K. Advani and Jaswant Singh were both born in Pakistan, then it reminds me of a unique bloke that I had come across, the late Simon Austin, who was about 48 years old in 1978. As he looked like Muhajir, Indian migrants, who have settled mostly in Karachi areas after partition, some Pakistanis would ask him in Urdu, “Are you a Pakistani?” He would reply, “No, no, I am an Indian, but my grandmother was born in Pakistani?” Frankly speaking, when he, his mother and grandmother were born, Pakistan did not exist, nor was the word “Pakistan” coined or anyone had inkling of it. If they asked him for his name, he would say, “Suleiman Simon,” and fortunately he did not say, “Suleimani chai,” the black tea (with sugar) which quite many people drink in Arabian Gulf. He was a character and his antics left us in good humour. Before partition, 51% of Karachi city was inhabitated by Hindus and the rest were Muslims (Sunnis, Shias and Ahmadis), Christians (mostly from Goa and Mangalore) and Parsis. Now, many Pakistanis must be living in properties once occupied by Hindus. Most of the Sikhs and Punjabis were in Lahore which, then, was called the Paris of the East and I know, for sure, Anarkali bazaar, the thriving business district is still there. Today, Lahore may have plummeted to abysmal depths.

Congratulations to the Zoo authorities on the birth of a baby Girafffe. I remember my visit to the zoo when the first pair of Giraffes arrived. When I entered the premises for a minute I thought they were statues as very rarely do we get to see them at Zoos these days. Now that the zoo has 8 of them just goes to speak highly the team’s work at the zoo which assists with the maintenance and breeding of such rare animals. As for the demise of the zebra who lived almost its whole life-span, hope the authorities will take necessary measures (through taxidermy – the method to stuff and preserve dead animals) to maintain and display it in some museum in Mysore. All the best and God Bless. Regards Aladdin Pais Mumbai – India

This is wrong. In a free society, we have the right to protest, not to disrupt and cause financial loss. These guys should be made to pay the Forum mall for the financial loss. Since there is enough proof, police should go after all those in these pictures and make them pay for the damage! Then again, India is a third-world nation where both media and politicians still don’t know the true meaning of free speech and its boundaries. They have different standards for different groups. I wouldn’t be surprised if this incident is followed by an avalanche of fake outrage by those dummies in Bollywood, media and politics. Remember, these are the same folks who never uttered a word when a Muslim cleric offered Rs.51 lakh rupees as a reward for those who will behead a RSS leader!!!

Saif, There is no God. If there is one, you can provide a scientific proof and be the most celebrated scientist ever!! Please do not use your imaginary friend in sky to justify abuse and flaws in human society!! The absence of a perfect solution is not an excuse to continue with barbaric tradition. For example , Democracy has a number of flaws and limitations. Does it mean that we should get back to earlier models of theocracy or monarchy? No!! (By the way, do you even believe in Democracy? I doubt it as your imaginary friend didn’t say anything about it in the old book!!!). Same way, vegetarian/ vegan lifestyle is not perfect, but it is far better than meat-consuming lifestyle. It significantly minimizes the suffering and death. Why are you not for changing your lifestyle to minimize the pain, suffering and death? Finally, please do not compare law of nature to law of god. Laws of nature has a logic behind it and science continuously tries to understand this logic and explain it. However, your imaginary friend is invented by medieval folks. There is no logic at all.

What gets my goat is this gratuitous presumption from some people like Naik that ordinary people are incapable of managing their lives themselves without these holier-than-thou people telling them. They think they are superior because they have read some fairy-tale books. Instead of coming and giving lecture on religion and other non-sense risking communal harmony why can’t they clean the streets for a change? The same goes to all the religious nut jobs who come down once every fortnight. I don’t honestly believe these people have done one day’s back-breaking job in their life but still presume they have the divine rights to manipulate other people. Why can’t he go and conduct his street plays in Syria?

Henry James – “Instead of coming and giving lecture on religion and other non-sense risking communal harmony why can’t they clean the streets for a change?” Sir, you are playing with the same coin. This coin has two faces. One face is religious extremism by the majority faction, now disguised as “swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. Example, the RSS. The other face is religious radicalism, used by ultra terrorists. Example, the ISIS or the Taliban! Both are dangerous and both endanger the nation and the inhabitants.

    • From Nelson Lewis on Mangaluru: Decision on Dr Zakir Naik's visit to city yet to be taken

Mr. Henry James, I salute you for expressing your views quite sensibly. Talking, selling and marketing religions have become a multi-million or billion dollar business. This has resulted in babas, godmen in many places in India and abroad. In not-that-distant past, there was Bhagwan Rajneesh, who advocated free sex and had 35 or 36 Rolls-Royce cars at Rajneeshpuram, Oregon, U.S.A. and led an opulent life befitting a king, before the Americans chucked him in a slammer, stripped him off his opulent gowns and forced him to wear prison garb and probably resorted to a third degree interrogation and finally booted him out. If I recall correctly, he had left India saying that he hated the country and then he had to eat his humble pie and return to the place that he had left with utter hate. A few years ago, there was a godman, who had vast followirng in India and abroad (one of my friends, an Italian, was his staunch follower). This man was touted to have miraculous powers and could produce “holy ashes” I am told. In the late 1960s or early 1970s, some academics and professionals had challenged him to prove his miraculous powers in their presence and one of them said that if he could produce HMT wrist watches, then he could easily produce bread and other consumables for the poor to stave off their hunger. He did not take up the challenge and chickened out. This baba had, sad to say, eminent cricketers of yesteryears as his followers and once even a match was held and trophy awarded. He used to never shake hands, but wave his hands to greet his supporters. The rumour has it that one day the hordes of assembled followers were quarantined to one section, before an executive aircraft could land. After the aircraft landed, the passengers were driven in a limousine with tinted glasses for an audience with the baba. It is rumoured, the passengers were Hillary and Chelsea Clinton. Well, I just heard it and I do not know how true it is? It amazes me that godmen can attract high and mighty, personalities who are well oiled and heeled, politicians, industrial czars, et al and get millions from these people who, otherwise, would not spend a dime on people who are hungry or badly need a dime. I am told that godmen keep surveillance on these people and know their weaknesses and blackmail and exploit them to their own advantage. In this electronic age, their jobs have become much easier. He was also dubbed as the “cheque-walla” baba, because his followers were well oiled and heeled. However, he succumbed to illness and had multi-organ failure and had to be treated by battery of doctors of much eminence, before he died and his miraculous powers did not come to his rescue. I personally know people who are crooks and scoundrels, who have indulged in cheating, stealing, bumming people for freebies and others favours, indulging in extra-marital activities, doing hawala business and running and indulging in boot-licking to get employment (as they could not get one on their own steams), posing as pious souls and fooling people. Apart from cunningness, opportunism and other bad qualities, they lack talents, general knowledge or brains. Years ago when I was abroad, I was invited by a family whose head was then considered one of the most highly salaried men there. There were two priests, one of whom has become a Cardinal today. The lady of the house who is a good singer and took part in multi-national choir recitals, asked the parish priest, “Father, please pardon me, if I am sounding rude. Why do you not have decent people with impeccable backgrounds assist you in church and parish activities, rather than people who have shady backgrounds, who are unchristianlike and indulge in dirty politics?” The priest replied, “We would like to have good people with impeccable credentials, but they do not volunteer for honorary work. So, we have to manage with what we have or get.”

there are certain animals which have been made lawful to eat by the almighty . even when these animals are slaughtered for food, it is to be done by utmost care, by providing water to it before slaughtering, using a sharp knife so that it suffers minimum pain, not slaughtering it in front of other animals and of course thanking God for the food he has provided. the Prophet, Mohammad(Peace be upon him) did not chose his food habits based on supply and demand. but on the divine decree that he got through revelations. so now lets come to u r point or logic that animals should not be slaughtered for food as it is akin to being merciless..? so let us say we switch to vegetarianism, JC Bose had way back in 1920’s proved that plants too have life. in fact further research in the field using modern science have even brought to light that plants can feel pain, feel happy etc. so in that regard we should not even vegetables as it would be causing harm to the plants or is it that Since we cannot see the plant feeling the pain using our naked eyes it can be killed? or is it that it has few senses (it cant walk, cry /shout ) so it can be killed ?? further if u go to any medical doctor and ask he would say that our nose-trills are designed in such a way that every time we breathe approximately 400000 to 4 million , micro organisms are killed… is it ok to kill the micro organisms? since we can see them or perceive their pain ??? are the not also living creatures after all or shall v stop Breathing ?? so this logic of shunning non vegetarian bcoz its violent or being merciless is flawed.. this is the law of Nature (GOD) but the beauty here is even when these animals are consumed for food. it is taught to be utmost merciful and not be ruthless like animals, and not kill these animals for fun or games, but only use it for food as permitted by GOD

Show some mercy to animals – give up meat eating and be vegetarians! I have a feeling that Prophet would have become vegetarian if there was enough supply of food in Arabian peninsula back in those days.

Glad that all Christian denominations got together in the evangelization ministry of Dr. Rajkumar. He presented to the audience of different religious background about a unique personality, GOD who took the form of a human being and came to the world, born in a manger, lived a very simple life of suffering, healed the sick, fed the hungry and preached the gospel or good news, died on the cross for the sins of the whole humanity. His birth was predicted earlier in the Old Testament. Read these passages:- Micah 5:2, Isaiah 7.14, Genesis 22:18 and Numbers 24:17. Here is another non-Biblical person, at 600 B.C., the founder of the monotheistic religion Zoroastrianism, Zoroaster predicted the Savior of the world will be born and grow up in a carpenter’s home, which was exactly fulfilled. His birth was a virgin birth, never took place in history; both in the Bible and Quran it is clearly written. Both the Bible and Quran are telling about the coming back of JESUS to establish HIS kingdom of peace on earth. Now we are approached an era of the world has never witnessed. Natural calamities, murder, war and economic crash. The whole humanity is affected with panic attack and bewildered about tomorrow, but in JESUS CHRIST, we can have peace and joy.

So, the madrasa based groups are also Sangha Parivaara? -Atheist Mr.Original Sir,The Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) is a Muslim organisation in India, affiliated to the Hindu nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). It was formed in 2002 at the initiative of the then RSS chief K.S. Sudarshan to allow the Sangh Parivar to reach out to Muslims. Anatomy Of Sangh Parivar http://www.countercurrents.org/puniyani051108.htm In RSS scheme of things the organizational affiliation comes second, the primary thing which they instill is the ideological subordination. Most of those involved in these acts will not have any remorse for what they did, as like the Al Qaeda variety, they are indoctrinated to believe that it is nationalism (Hindu in this case, in Al Qaeda variety it is Islamic nation of course) so what you are doing while instigating anti minority violence or while planting the bombs is for the service of your religion! While superficially at loggerheads the ideological wavelength of RSS indoctrination is similar to the one used in Pakistani Madrassas for training Al Qaeda. Here the religion is different paradigms are same. To deal with such ideologies leading to acts of terror, what is also needed is to combat their ideological foundations. The current Margdarshak (Guide) Indresh Kumar is the same person who Saffron terror mastermind Swami Aseemanand implicated with RSS Chief Bhagwat. He is also the same convenor who questioned Why do Naxals never attack churches in Chhattisgarh? Why do Naxals never attack churches in Chhattisgarh, asks RSS leader Indresh Kumar http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-why-do-naxals-never-attack-churches-in-chhattisgarh-asks-rss-leader-indresh-kumar-2145681 It won’t surprise why Modi’s government wanted public prosecution to go slow on saffron terror. This is the same ‘Madrassa’ which ‘K.S.Sudarshan founded and breeded and later suffered ‘dementia’. • From sHAIkH moHd rizwan on Udupi: Devotees perform ‘Ede Snana’ at Sri Muchlukodu Subrahmanya Temple

Dear readers, These days, Indian policymakers are debating how to create a vast new food entitlement program. There is talk of poor households struggling to cope with high food prices and malnourishment among their children. What you don’t hear much about, however, is the most tragic and outrageous consequence of India’s failure to feed its people adequately: starvation deaths. India is a nation that prides itself on having been self-sufficient in food production for decades and having leaped forward economically over the past 20 years. So it isn’t surprising that public officials and even many in the media are reluctant to face up to the painful reality that hunger persists in 2012. Starvation doesn’t fit neatly into the story of a “shining” India. Historically oppressed and disenfranchised lower castes and tribal populations – known as “scheduled castes” and “scheduled tribes” — are the poorest of the poor and the most at risk. It is no surprise that most reported starvation deaths occur in these communities. In Bihar the under-five mortality rate for scheduled castes is 113 deaths per 1,000 births, compared to the state-wide average of 85 and the all-India average of 74. India is a food surplus nation but according to the International Food Policy Research Institute’s 2011 Global Hunger Index, it ranks 67th out of 81 countries and has more than 200 million food-insecure people, the most in the world. (The Hunger Index measures hunger based on the percentage of a country’s population that is undernourished, the proportion of children under five years old who are underweight, and the mortality rate of children under five.) This is a common occurrence in some of the villages in Utter Pradesh, Bihar and many other states of India. So many people are dying every day out of starvation and hunger. These villages suffer from extreme poverty and hunger. So many people are dying every day out of starvation and hunger In villages like Palamu, Gadwa, Chatara people are dying every day while the entire nation is watching as mute spectators. It is already a well known fact that children in Bihar, Orissa, UP are dying every day after feeding themselves on a fistful of rice or one glass of dirty water. According to a recent survey, almost 20 people have died out of starvation and hunger in the last month and one can only imagine how many more are yet to die out of these extreme conditions. Such shocking occurrences are happening everyday in our own nation. In the past decade, India has emerged as a major agricultural exporter, with exports climbing from just over $5 billion in 2003 to a record of more than $39 billion in 2013. When poor goes starving, the upper caste throne politics Brahmins dictating the poverty. As long as the Hindu religious leaders like Pejawar who is dictating the terms, even Supreme court of India will shame to hide his face for poverty death. If Pejawar has right to overrule the practice of ‘Sati’ he would have modified with religious coercion will encourage it. Is feeding the poor is more blessed than rolling over the food? Is Supreme court of India will voluntarily made to sit on wheel chair? Is this the Modi’s ‘Digital India’? Jai Hind

  • From sas on Mangaluru: Subramanian Swamy is a Psychopath - Ramanath Rai

Rajiv Gandhi died for the country!!! Did he die in the battlefield fighting the enemies? He was killed and of course, the country mourned his untimely death. However, that does not confer rights on his wife and son to do whatever they wish to do and classify them in exempted class, immune from law of the land. It is tragic that such a great party has to endure ridicules because of present leadership and it is immature to categorize anyone as psychopath or lapdog just because he/she defied the current leaders of Congress who don’t merit recognition in the manner how they exploited the country for their selfish interest, not the interest of the country.

The first thing that always came to my mind was – Why do these brahmana’s take extra food knowing fully well they cannot eat that much? Why couldn’t they have just left the remaining food in the pot, and invited all the hungry for a feast, and this would have made perfect sense. First food is wasted, and what is worse is to see a fellow human being degraded by encouraging him to roll in those left overs with a hope that this would cure them of their “Skin diseases” ???? This is the 21st century and still people practise all this? I’m shaking my head in disbelief. The problem is many of my compatriots have a more serious form of “brain disease”. One suggests and the other becomes that mama’s boy and does. This is on the internet and people all over world can read this absurdity, and so when people ridicule us we should not get offended.

I’m not an expert on Abrahamic faiths, but even if they do consider other Gods as false Gods then this is their opinion, and as all in a democratic societies everyone has the right to his or her opinion. But inciting people to commit acts of violence in any way shape or form is called hate speech. For example in a you tube video when Zakir was asked a question on Bin Laden he replied ” I do not know bin Laden, neither have I met ever him, but if he is terrorising George Bush who is a greatest terrorist then I am with him – giving the thumbs up sign”. This clear recorded statements in a you tube video when Zakir aligns himself with bin Laden, and as we all know bin laden was the one who boasted and claimed responsibility in another you tube video for bringing down the 2 WTC towers in New York resulting in the deaths of 3000 innocent people. So when he says he would join bin Laden in terrorising George Bush whom he considers the biggest terrorist this was classified as a hate speech, and this was one of the many reasons that led to him being banned in the US, Canada, all countries in the European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Etc. Since Zaikir has refused to take back his words, and apologise the ban on him stays and he will never be able to visit all of the above countries.

There is no scientific evidence that rolling over the left overs will cure skin diseases or any kind of diseases. The idiotic practice probably started hundreds of years ago by Brahmins to show their superiority and to exploit the poor and illiterates by preaching that such rollover will cure their diseases. If Brahmins believe that theory, I suggest that Brahmims should rollover the leftovers of Dalits or so called lower caste to cure their diseases. Anyway, the practice is against the decency and self esteem of a human being. Hopefully, the growing educated people in India will realize the truth one day and put the perpetrators in the right place. What goes around comes around and wait for the days when temples and supporters of such stupid practice might be at the receiving end.

One should wonder at the courage of these Udupi temples which have the audacity and guts to defy SC ban and I begin wondering who are behind these temples supporting them in this kind of depressing act. I think it is necessary that the Government should take a serious note of these practices and educate the people who blindly follow the age-old stupid and idiotic practices and take strict action against the culprits for defying the SC ban. Trying to dictate rules to religious groups is a slippery slope that our Justice institutions should be very aware of. It’s one thing when a religious tradition involves non-voluntary participants and force. However, traditions involving volunteer parties are very different. What if progressive thinkers want to ban ‘panchagavya’ offered as ‘Prasaada’ in temples because it has go-mutra and dung? I find religions to be illogical and stupid – Does it mean that we need to ban religions? As an agnostic, I find almost zero logic in religions except a false comfort to address the fear of death. However, I don’t mind people gathering in beautiful buildings and trying to impress imaginary god as long as it has no victims. Made snaana has no victims. Panchagavya has no victims. Sunday mass and prayer sessions have no victims. However, slaughtering animals in the name of ‘sacrifice’ has clear victims – Listen to those heart wrenching screams and ask yourself if you have a soul.

My interest in health brings me to this site, Hi to all my friends alike, Congrajulations & Best Wishes to DONNY. Hoping my presence is welcome here. Let me admit that, I had a very interesting read, this article is indeed very profound and helps me figure out myself more. Saying that I was wondering isn’t there too many rules and regulations involved in this hobby, on a personal level I mean, as advised by my friend, an esteemed sportsman, not denying the fact that it is indeed for health and best intention. I on the other hand though not a typical cycling enthusiast but who doesn’t mind riding a Hercules for modesty and means, do walk, trek and swim, swimming not that good on choppy waters of course. Well I have a simple question to put it straight. Would walking 2 hrs each day hep as much as cycling does, purely from a medical point of view, and swim may be for an hour on weekends, please consider me a NOVICE here. The fact that I am saying this is because, I feel I have an obsession with being very fast, and careless. I still remember how I biked straight into a tree as a small kid and hurt myself, but thats an old story. Cannot deny it gets repeated even to this day, I being a 32 year old man. Need clarifications my friends, experts and passionate sportsmen/women, since I am bit confused, yet I want to carry heath all my life, in humility do I say this, could you advice me as to which is better, cycling, walking, swimming, trekking or all three.

Otherwise, why would he blame ‘death cult’ culture on ‘wahabi interpretation’ ? When the book says ‘kill’, what interpretation is he talking about? Kill doesn’t mean love!!! This is actually a common problem seen with self-haters. They, somehow, are fooled into believe that these groups are all very peaceful and only a tiny fraction is abusing it using misinterpretations!! The book is very clear and one doesn’t need any interpretations. You need interpretations ONLY when you want to hide the true text, meaning and spin it as something positive!!

I think if the speakers are allowed and as long as they do not directly promote hate speeches and violence, less people would perceive that there was an insult. What Puranic and his ilks is reminiscent of the Rushdie book saga. What I mean here is that – more people believed the propaganda and resorted to protest without even knowing what that book was about. All they knew was from others that there is insult ! That was enough for them. Puranik et al are also following the same pattern here( I wonder what difference exists between Puranik version and archaic interpretation of “other religions” Similarly a play was banned recently because of the CBCI and others felt there was insult to Christianity. Just how many people will attend this play? Does one speech or play shake ones faith? Who are we to judge and condemn a priest , a fakir , a sadhu or a baba is a fake? surely we may not agree with his/her views. Every one has the right to speak( sense or nonsense – depending on if we agree or not) . Therefore the persons who raise a hue and cry ( Puranik et al ) are the real trouble mongers and these people promote divisiveness of the society. Professor Puranik – Ashoka Emperor promoted Budhism in India yet Hiduism prevailed. How do you compare Dr. Zakir and Ashoka? I agree people should engage themselves in good causes in their retired life. The right choice for a right cause is therefore is the need of the hour.

  • From Roy on Mangaluru: We Will Not Tolerate Dr Zakir Naik Entering Mangaluru - Prof Puranik

The world is finally waking up to the danger of the crazy Saudi Wahabi interpretation of Islam. Speaking with Berlin’s Bild newspaper on Sunday, German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel called Saudi Arabia an important diplomatic partner but raised concern that “from Saudi Arabia, Wahhabi mosques are financed throughout the world,” warning “we must make it clear to the Saudis that the time of looking the other way is over.” Several of the Islamic State group’s Paris gunmen grew up or spent time in Belgium’s Molenbeek, a neighborhood described by the Guardian as “Europe’s jihadi central” that has also been linked to several other attacks. Some observers have sought to draw a line connecting those attackers and Saudi-inspired Salafism. The Paris cell’s mastermind, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, grew up in Molenbeek as the child of Moroccan immigrants. According to a local think tank analyst cited by the Washington Post, starting in the 1970s “Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf countries sent funding for rigid religious schools, setting up tension between Wahhabi mosques and the more moderate and largely Moroccan tradition.” The Grand Mosque of Brussels, considered “the largest and most influential mosque in the capital of the European Union,” was gifted to Saudi Arabia’s King Faisal in 1967. According to Politico Europe, the mosque’s cultural center “encouraged clerics from the 1980s onwards to shift to fundamentalist Salafist teachings, including the placement of over 600 salafist teachers into schools.” Belgian MP and former Doctors without Borders official Georges Dallemagne also points to this influence, arguing that “the very strong influence of Salafists… is one of the particularities that puts Belgium at the center of terrorism in Europe today.” One month after the Charlie Hebdo attacks, Radio France Internationale reported that the French government was exploring new legislation to block foreign funding of mosques “from countries like Qatar and Saudi Arabia” as part of “a cultural offensive against Salafist movements.” Since last month’s Paris attacks, several French mosques have been closed down, and one of France’s senior imams told Al Jazeera that the interior ministry intended to shut down between 100 and 160 more due to takfiri messaging, preaching hatred, or operating without a license. http://www.realclearworld.com/articles/2015/12/12/a_backlash_builds_against_saudi_salafism_111620.html

“Are these Sangh Parivar trying to object to his speech proving Hindu scripture is wrong or it is just an subjugation of open truth?” You could keep your opinion about Zakir, but from what I know about him is that he is an international Pariah. He has been banned from entering several countries all over the world, and by the way he is going he could face the ban in Islamic countries too, as religious fatwas are being issued against him. He is only an expert in “Taqqiya”. Leave alone Hindu scriptures, Zakir cannot speak the truth about his religion and this is amply evident from the fact that learned Muslim scholars like Maulana Muhammad A.K Azad (Abu Arif Al Alawi – real Deobandi scholars) have issued religious fatwa against Zakir clearly stating that he is misguiding simple Muslims to the wrong path? Please see the links http://islamicresearchmission.blogspot.ca/2012/10/deobandi-fatwas-on-dr-zakir-naik-author.html As Muslim scholars state that Zakir has created a “fitnah”, and per your Qur’an creating fitnah is a sin, and also a sign of kufr (disbelief), and hence he will be punished by Allah by being burnt in the hell fire. Here is the link confirming the punishment for committing fitnah: https://islamqa.info/en/22899. Based on the above facts the Muslims of Mangalore should stay away from this known trouble maker, and not to be part of his fitnah. This not me saying so it is your learned Muslim scholars.

Mr. A.S. Mathew, This is a very ultra-conservative country which baffles and confounds me. It is one of the worst countries to live in, probably apart from Stalinist North Korea. The legal system is not modern and punishments meted out is as per the Sharia. Can you believe such punishments in the 21st century? I do not think social revolution will take place in Saudi Arabia. If its absolute monarchy does that, then the royal family numbering in thouands will, in the best scenario case, be booted out and that will be the death-knell of the muttawas (religious police). These municipal elections allowing females to take part is just an eye-wash. Just one woman wins the election and in India women are being encouraged to take all sorts of jobs. If I am not wrong, then women in India will be serving in combat positions in all the three services, i.e. Army, Navy and Air Force, apart from paramilitary organizations like B.S.F., Indo-Tibetan Border Police, etc.

  • From shAikh mohD rizwan on Climate change pact: PM says no winners or losers

Dear readers, Weather Warfare: Beware the US Military’s Experiments with Climatic Warfare ‘Climatic warfare’ has been excluded from the agenda on climate change.
Weather Warfare: Beware the US Military’s Experiments with Climatic Warfare
This article was first published by The Ecologist in December 2007. I summarizes several in-depth and detailed articles written by the author on the HAARP program. The debate on climate change does not acknowledge the role of climatic warfare, namely the deliberate manipulation of climate for military use. “HAARP is a weapon of mass destruction, capable of destabilising agricultural and ecological systems globally.” “‘Climatic warfare’ potentially threatens the future of humanity, but has casually been excluded from the reports for which the IPCC received the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.” It has also been excluded from the November 2015 Paris Climate Summit. Rarely acknowledged in the debate on global climate change, the world’s weather can now be modified as part of a new generation of sophisticated electromagnetic weapons. Both the US and Russia have developed capabilities to manipulate the climate for military use. Environmental modification techniques have been applied by the US military for more than half a century. US mathematician John von Neumann, in liaison with the US Department of Defense, started his research on weather modification in the late 1940s at the height of the Cold War and foresaw ‘forms of climatic warfare as yet unimagined’. During the Vietnam war, cloud-seeding techniques were used, starting in 1967 under Project Popeye, the objective of which was to prolong the monsoon season and block enemy supply routes along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The US military has developed advanced capabilities that enable it selectively to alter weather patterns. The technology, which is being perfected under the High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP), is an appendage of the Strategic Defense Initiative – ‘Star Wars’. From a military standpoint, HAARP is a weapon of mass destruction, operating from the outer atmosphere and capable of destabilising agricultural and ecological systems around the world. In 1977, an international Convention was ratified by the UN General Assembly which banned ‘military or other hostile use of environmental modification techniques having widespread, long-lasting or severe effects.’ It defined ‘environmental modification techniques’ as ‘any technique for changing –through the deliberate manipulation of natural processes – the dynamics, composition or structure of the earth, including its biota, lithosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere, or of outer space.’ While the substance of the 1977 Convention was reasserted in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) signed at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio, debate on weather modification for military use has become a scientific taboo. According to a report by the Russian State Duma: ‘The US plans to carry out large-scale experiments under the HAARP programme [and] create weapons capable of breaking radio communication lines and equipment installed on spaceships and rockets, provoke serious accidents in electricity networks and in oil and gas pipelines, and have a negative impact on the mental health of entire regions.’* An analysis of statements emanating from the US Air Force points to the unthinkable: the covert manipulation of weather patterns, communications and electric power systems as a weapon of global warfare, enabling the US to disrupt and dominate entire regions. Weather manipulation is the pre-emptive weapon par excellence. It can be directed against enemy countries or ‘friendly nations’ without their knowledge, used to destabilise economies, ecosystems and agriculture. It can also trigger havoc in financial and commodity markets. The disruption in agriculture creates a greater dependency on food aid and imported grain staples from the US and other Western countries. Is this is ‘El-Nino’ or ‘weather warfare needs to extensively studied. When flood can submerge a mega cities to standstill and crops grow dry without adequate rains, the country like India may face with billion plus population to feed it may prove catastrophic for any government in power. Is Modi who was one of the representative in climate change summit has knowledge of terrible warfare, which can cripple our economy which is still not able to find farmers suicide? Jai Hind

It is further stated in the report that during the riots the state ministers, MLAs and VHP leaders were sitting in the police control room and inciting and directing the rioters against Muslims and that the state government is fully responsible for anti-Muslim riots of Gujarat. The PUHR team which toured Gujarat consisted of 3 members led by its senior member and former President of JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) students union, Pranor Krishn. 500 mosques and shrines destroyed in Gujarat http://www.milligazette.com/Archives/15042002/1504200286.htm Two hundred and thirty unique Islamic monuments, including an exquisite 400-year-old mosque, were destroyed or vandalised during the recent anti-Muslim riots in the Indian state of Gujarat, according to a local survey. Experts say the damage is so extensive that it rivals the better publicised destruction of the Bamiyan Buddhas in Afghanistan or the wrecking of Tibet’s monasteries by the Red Guards. Several monuments have been reduced to rubble in the course of the riot, in which 2,000 people, mainly Muslims, have died. In other disturbances, Hindu gangs have smashed delicate mosque screens, thrown bricks at Persian inscriptions, and set fire to old Korans. “Dr Zakir is a controversial figure and he insults Hindu gods” – report quoting one Puranik who is demanding a ban on Dr.Naik. VHP and BD are totally wrong here. Being controversial or insulting sanaathana gods are not a crime. They are not strong enough reasons to ban an individual from entering a city. Indian citizens should have the freedom to move freely within India. In a free society, we should be able to mock, ridicule or criticize any god or religion. Unfortunately, this ‘ban’ culture was started by our clueless media and illiterate politicians. See how our journalists run and hide under the table when you bring up some sensitive subjects on a ‘peaceful’ minority. Now, this monster of ‘ban’ culture is spinning out of control. I do not believe in babas, sadhus, godmen, preachers, etc., but rely upon my common sense and intellect. People should use their common-sense, but few use it. I have high regards for personalities like Mother Teresa, Pakistan’s Baba Edhi, who have done great social service. Baba Edhi may be a Pakistani, but he is a great man – non-corrupt and who cannot be purchased by money. I hope both in India and Pakistan, we had non-corrupt politicians like Baba Edhi. Dr. Zakir Naik is a fraud, who mostly attracts the labour class, who are incapable of rational thinking and get swayed away by people who are good orators and have convincing powers. He wears a skull cap and dons suits. Does Koran allow a holy and pious muslim to wear suits. Is it not unislamic? From what I have heard from some Muslims, Koran governs all facets of Muslims’ lives. If people of others faiths, including Christians and Jews, went exactly as per their holy books, then they would have been living lives that one led in those days and would not have made any progress.

  • From Henry James on Climate change pact: PM says no winners or losers

These crooks are no longer using #GlobalWarming. As part of this pact, the fake climate scientists are going to get $100 billion, which of course is paid for by your tax dollars. Now suck it up. Governments have got a new excuse to impose more taxes on the masses. Who is at the other end? No prizes for the right answer. Amidst all this, it’s sad that our home-grown scientist Pachauri’s test……… was too high recently so he will not be getting this slice of the pie. Perhaps he will be busy with court appearances.

But that does not mean that whatever you are telling is true or reasonable. I am having one question to you that why your Congress High Commond is not giving much weight on you like Oscar and Moily got? Because you are not feeding your party or madam. Where as Mr Moily is feeding the party for position. Please without knowing the fact of National Herald don’t give your opinion basing on Rahul, Sibal and other people report. Congratulation to Korwa hats off to the President and all committee members. Your efforts and noble gestures was commendable. As Abraham Lincoln said. “When I do good, I feel Good, When I do Bad, I Feel Bad and that is my religion. So you people did exactly what the less fortunate deserve. Truly Christmas is a reminder to all of us that Jesus came to this world to share his Love among humanity and thought us what it means to love the poor and downtrodden. Once Nelson Mandela Said. ” We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right” and rightly so. You’ll chose the right time and occasion to celebrate Christmas with a difference by sharing with the Orphans and making them happy by giving them the space to enjoy with everyone and make them feel that yes there are people who love and care God’s given gift to the world to take care of them. Once again am honoured to be part of the KORWA fraternity. Long Live KORWA.

Good article… even commode/western toilets also dangerous in Train as children cannot sit ‘coz of design of the toilet… I don’t know Indian railways charging more on 2 and 3 tier AC coaches but not maintaining toilet and hygiene are the subject to be discussed in parliament. Train journey is enjoyable in India, you may feel unity in diversity but when comes to toilet you have to think twice before you reserve the ticket.

Coming to National Herald case, let us wait for the judicial outcome instead of coming to our own conclusion without knowing the merits of the case. • From A. S. Mathew on Mangaluru: Joy to the World! KORWA celebrates the 'Coming of Jesus' with Orphanage Kids

Christmas is the most celebrated festival in the world, but millions of poor people are not participating at the glorious celebration of joy. According to the World Health Organizations report in 2013, out of the 7.2 billion world population, 1.2 billion are living with $ 1.25/day, and 400 million are in India. If the Christians of India will make an earnest effort to help according to their capacity, even one packet of meal a day for the hungry people around them, that can wipe off river full of tears from thousands of people. JESUS NOT ONLY PREACHED THE GOSPEL, BUT HE WAS FULLY INVOLVED WITH THREEFOLD MINISTRY IN HIS BRIEF STAY ON EARTH. JESUS PREACHED THE GOSPEL-HEALED THE SICK AND FED THE HUNGRY. AS FOLLOWERS OF JESUS, IF WE ARE DELINQUENT TO FOLLOW THOSE THINGS IN OUR PERSONAL LIVES, WE ARE SIMPLY FAKE FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CHRIST. MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU. MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Along the way, she also seems to be raising awareness on real nature of India and its safe, tolerant culture. This must be a ‘kapaala moksha’ and shocking to many who have been busy spreading false information by exaggerating every silly incident to paint India as an intolerant, unsafe country ruined by sanaathana groups!! Let me quote this great lady again – “If we think positively we have positive experiences”. I doubt that Mr Bawa even know this Person. When this is the case, why Mr Bawa should get involved in Police Matters. He is not a Home Minister even. He says that He did not pressure but called DCP Crime and told Him that Siddique is Innocent. Again same thing,Mr Bawa said that Siddique is innocent,so Police should not arrest. I am proud that Police Crew stood up to interference by MLA. Let the elected official think twice before interfering in crime matter. Mr Pramod, good job,you stood up for truth. Next time DCP should call Mr Bawa and ask His permission to arrest a murderer. By then Murderer will fly to Gulf. To All Policemen,Crime or Traffic, please call MLA office before arresting a Criminal or Stopping a Vehicle driven by Drunk Driver. If a Person is trying to shoot or hurt someone, please do not arrest that Person because that Person is still Innocent as per MLA. He did not kill the other Person yet. Lawmakers or Law Breakers.

Police personal will have soft corner about particular community and it will affect them discharging their duty unbiased. Police department or any dept. should not bow to particular organization demand or else it will create chaos and confusion in long run which is very threatening for the development of the city.

“According to the DC’s instructions, CCTV cameras are to be placed throughout the entire city – in and around temples, masjids, churches and all religious places, schools, petrol stations, bars, hostels, government offices, bus stands, markets, and all public places” – Report. Interesting!! Does DC’s office have the authority to enforce these rules on citizens and businesses? Is this legal? I honestly don’t know – Any legal experts? Don’t get me wrong – If we have security camera all over the city, run by individuals/businesses (not centralized govt), it can be a good thing. I was just curious about the legality of such a compliance requirement.

I would like to know if they support free speech, drawing cartoons of all religious figures and publishing critical views on all religions? I also would like to know if they are for uniform civil code? As I have repeatedly mentioned on this forum, it is very easy to be ‘brave’ in mocking sanathana dharma and hindu outfits. Dear RSS Paimaam, in your Uniform Civil Code for “Bharatheeya Dress Code”, is it the Saree or the Dhoti which all Hindus should ware, irrespective of their gender? Paimaam, the Uniform Civil Code is uncivilized Utopian concept, which even the Hindus can not accept, leave alone the non-Hindus that you target to polarize the Hindus against! What does media really think of Muslims? Do they expect Muslims to be heartless and ignore people crying for help when the entire city is under water???? This is called soft bigotry of low expectations!!!! Would the media have reacted the same way if a Catholic charity had rescued families during flood? Not at all !! Would media have reacted the same way if Ramakrishna Ashrama or ISKCON folks supplied free food and supplies to families? No – Not at all!! Paimaam, the media did not lower standards, but it is you who lowered the standard of Hindus. The media did not report on the fact that the Muslims rescued, but on the fact that a “Hindu Mother thanked by her gesture of naming the child after the man who saved”. • From sHaikH moHd Rizwan on Mangaluru: Nine Persons Arrested in Various Cases - Derlakatte Rape Case Accused Safwan Booked under Goonda Act

Dear readers, For a peace and stability it is good move from Mangalore Police. But here are the other side of the story a future ‘Smart’ city is always in media for wrong reasons. Mangalore pub attack: all 28 accused granted bail http://archive.indianexpress.com/news/mangalore-pub-attack-all-28-accused-granted-bail/417507/ Exactly a week after the attack on women at a Mangalore pub by the Right-wing Hindu outfit, the Sri Rama Sene, a magistrate’s court in the city on Saturday granted bail to all the 28 accused, including Pramod Muthalik, the Sene chief who is accused of instigating, justifying, and conspiring the attack. Prasad Attavar, the vice-president of the Sene, was also among the released. The court granted the bail on condition that the accused must not repeat the offence and be available for investigations. Mangalore: Sixteen Accused in Homestay Attack Released on Bail http://www.mangalorean.com/news.php?newstype=broadcast&broadcastid=411847 Yet another sixteen of the accused who had been arrested in connection with the homestay attack by the Kankanady police, got a sigh of relief to breathe some fresh air, since they were released on bail by the second session court here on July 25. Interestingly some of the accused involved in the pub attack are found booked in repeated offence in ‘Morning mist’ attack. According to cobrapost sting operation, the fact that the majority of the police force is Hindu helps such groups. Shockingly, it has the BJP MLC from Mangalore Captain Ganesh Karnik proudly stating how they had infiltrated the police force with RSS workers: “We have tried to send some of our boys into the police. When I talk to students, I tell them to join the police .. 60% of the young constables are our students.” BJP, RSS Leaders Caught Using ‘Love Jihad’ Bogey to Fuel Communal Polarisation http://thewire.in/2015/10/05/bjp-rss-leaders-caught-using-love-jihad-bogey-to-fuel-communal-polarisation-12409/ It is one of the classic evidence that political and Sangh Parivar infiltration in law enforcing department very much taken toll and credibility remains in question due to just culture. The Karnataka Home ministry should need revamp of police force in Coastal district. It needs reshuffle of department by inducing all class in the police department. It won’t surprise me if Muzaffarnagar one day haunt us in our own background were law agency remains mute spectator. Jai Hind

Every Tax payer has right to know who influenced this action against Mr.Pramod. Where are these Hindu Organizations fought for causes. First of all Mr Murugan should see the condition of Police Station in which Policemen are working in that station. He did not even care that in what condition His subordinates are working. Walls are ready to fall and crush the Policemen to death. We should contact Home department in Delhi and find out the fact. If this kind of interference comes in the arrest of Criminals, then what safety we public have here in Mangalore. Dear Mangaloreans please wake up for your safety and fight to find out the truth. • From sHAIKh moHd rizwan on Udupi: Unidentified Miscreants Throw Head of a Cow Near House in Shankerpura

Dear readers, The murder by a Hindu mob of a Muslim man rumored to have slaughtered a cow has thrown a spotlight on the hardline, polarizing agenda of some followers of Indian Prime Minster Narendra Modi, undermining his promise of development for all. On a tour of Silicon Valley last month where he was feted by U.S. tech gurus and Indian emigres, Modi won a pledge from Microsoft to provide low-cost Internet for 500,000 villages to back his vision of a globally networked “Digital India”. One such village is Bisara, 50 km (30 miles) from the capital New Delhi, where a crowd of assailants broke into Mohammed Akhlaq’s home last Monday night, beat him to death and dragged his body out into the street. The local member of parliament, Mahesh Sharma, is also Modi’s culture minister and has hit the headlines of late with statements that show a different side to their ruling Hindu nationalist party. In one recent speech, Sharma vowed to cleanse public life “polluted” by Western influences. Visiting Bisara this week to pay his respects to Akhlaq’s family, Sharma said the killing could have been an “accident”. “How can the leader call my husband’s murder an accident?” Akhlaq’s widow Ikraman, who suffered facial injuries, told Reuters at the family home. “I don’t think the minister knows the difference between an accident and murder.” Critics say Sharma’s comment implicitly condoned Akhlaq’s lynching and pandered to fringe Hindu militants who have recently become active in the district. Eating beef is a taboo for many Hindus, who make up 80 percent of India’s population of 1.25 billion people, but not for the country’s 175 million Muslims. In a clear attempt to spark unrest,a slaughtered pig was found inside a mosque in Delhi’s Okhla area. This incident took place even as areas like Trilokpuri and Bawana remain tense over communal clashes. http://www.firstpost.com/politics/dead-pig-found-in-okhla-mosque-muslims-hindus-work-together-to-prevent-tension-1790765.html While there was outrage about the incident in the mosque located in the JJ cluster, the Muslim community acted with restraint, choosing to file a police complaint along with the Hindus in the area. Nowadays beef has become a topic of debate in the country since the right wing activists have taken an aggressive move against the people eating beef, mainly Muslims. The 50-year-old Mohammed Akhlaq was lynched on Monday night by angered mob, following an announcement in the local temple that his family had consumed beef. No doubt beef may lead to communal violence in any part of the country. Burkha-clad RSS activist caught throwing beef at temple? Pictures go viral on Facebook! http://www.india.com/news/india/burkha-clad-rss-activist-caught-throwing-beef-at-temple-pictures-go-viral-on-facebook-593154/ “Those who spread this poison enjoy his (Modi’s) patronage,” .”This government has set a tone that is threatening, mean-spirited and inimical to freedom.” I would request local Muslims to unite with Hindus wherever such incident reported to defeat the evil from the society. The non-BJP ruled states bound of elections will witness such crimes in the future to polarise the majority community to divide for vote bank. There are sharp rise in polarisation in West Bengal,UP, Karnataka and God’s own country Kerala. Let’s strive for ‘Pluralist’ and ‘inclusive’ India. Jai Hind

“…if any one slew a person – unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land – it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.” writes Taqiyya artist Sharia Shaikh quoting his holy book. Dear friend, Thankfully many thinkers/activists like Maajid Nawaz, Irshad Manzi, Ali Al Rizvi and Tarek Fatah are doing a great job of exposing lies and propaganda by folks like you!! As they repeatedly point out in their presentations, the verse 5:32 is probably the most ripped-out-of-context verse from your holy book. Here is what it actually says: “On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person – unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land – it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.” In fact, in the very next verse 5:33, it gives additional details on what to do as punishment to ‘mischief’ – “execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land”. You can see how it says exactly the opposite what you are trying to project on this forum!! Please stop your taqiyya lies on this forum. You don’t have to believe me – read the following link: http://www.answeringmuslims.com/2010/05/quran-532-nazam-and-neglecting-context.html

  • From sHAIKh moHd rizwan on Mangaluru: Cow's Milk is Health, Ghee Medicine and Meat Disease - Mohammed Faiz Khan

So, essentially you are quite OK with the lil rats. Right?-Mr.Praveen Sir, The killing any form is against will of Almighty. None of the religion profess such crimes. The Children and elderly are the silent victim of all conflict. I would like to repeat the same quotes “War violates every right of a child – the right to life, the right to be with family and nurtured and respected”, (Grace Machel, UN, 1996). Islam considers all life forms as sacred. However, the sanctity of human life is accorded a special place. The first and the foremost basic right of a human being is the right to live. The Glorious Quran says: “…if any one slew a person – unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land – it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.”Al- Quran 5:32 Such is the value of a single human life, that the Quran equates the taking of even one human life unjustly, with killing all of humanity. Thus, the Quran prohibits homicide in clear terms. The taking of a criminal’s life by the state in order to administer justice is required to uphold the rule of law, and the peace and security of the society. Only a proper and competent court can decide whether an individual has forfeited his right to life by disregarding the right to life and peace of other human beings. “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.-Matthew 5:21-22 Hope almighty show you the right path. However, as I pointed out those ‘lil rats’ (who play Hide and Seek – shooting ‘kaffirs’ are NOT the “silent victims” of the Daesh conflict. They are sheer vermin who need to be exterminated ASAP. By the way, I have some quotes for you: 1. In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is King. 2. When the blind lead the blind, GET OUT of the way. 3. ಊಟ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದ್ರೆ ಹಸಿವೆ ಆಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ P.S.: I don’t know who whom I can attribute ALL the 3 quotes above. All I know is that it is ONE of these three – (a) Attila the Hun (b) Adolf Eichmann (c) ದತ್ತ್ರತ್ರೆಯ ರಾಮಚಂದ್ರ ಬೇಂದ್ರೆ But then, please feel free to take your pick. And once that is done, I sincerely hope and pray that the Almighty will show you the way. Cheerio. 🙂

Respected SP K. Annamalai, Sadly in our country, chain snatchers, bootleggers, rapists, gangsters, and murders are given full board and lodge free of charge in a jail, until they are tried and found guilty within a minimum period of 5 to 15 years. So how can crime be prevented? The law and the police are two different entities – the police detect and apprehend, the lawyers and judges incriminate them or set them on bail or set them free. If you do not want cockroaches in your house, you have to eliminate them. Likewise, if you want no crime, you have to eliminate the criminals immediately, and not make them the bread and butter of lawyers and judges, who take forever even in a straight forward case. At the Udupi City Bus Stand there are 2 liquor bars on either side, on the main road, and are doing roaring business selling in retail pegs to the men and women labour force from north Karnataka, and the police are standing right at this junction where such a crowd of labourers are gathered every evening, occupying the footpath, some laying fully drunk on the pavement, other illegal vendors selling all sorts of foodstuff, etc. WHY CAN’T THE POLICE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, and prevent the labourers from gathering at this junction in the morning and in the evening – they also spit, spit paan, throw gutka packs all over and dirty the place. Is there no law for Bar Owners or Liquor Stores not to sell retail in pegs, and is there no law to apprehend drunkards in public.

  • From shAIKH mOHD rizwan on Mangaluru: Cow's Milk is Health, Ghee Medicine and Meat Disease - Mohammed Faiz Khan

Mr. Shaikh, are THESE “Topi’s” OK with you?-Mr.Praveen Sir, Over the last ten years, two million children have been killed in conflict. Over one million have been orphaned, over six million have been seriously injured or permanently disabled and over ten million have been left with serious psychological trauma. Since 1998 there have been armed conflicts involving child soldiers in at least 36 countries. However, the traumatic scars left on children are just one of a vast aftermath of post war problems: refugees, food shortages and mourning for lost relatives. Former Child Soldiers may at best have their needs forgotten and at worst be blamed by their communities for what happened. Children from poor and disadvantaged families who are seeking physical support, revenge for their losses or the sense of belonging are particularly vulnerable to exploitation during conflict. Other children are kidnapped and forced to become fighters. It is estimated that over the last 15 years 10,000 children have been abducted by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) around Gulu in northern Uganda, alone. Children are deliberately targeted as they are manipulated more easily than adults and can be indoctrinated to perform crimes and atrocities without asking questions. Child soldiers in Central African Republic more than doubled, says charity http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/dec/18/-sp-child-soldiers-central-african-republic-doubled Up to 10,000 boys and girls are now fighting in sectarian conflict, according to Save the Children. “To kill the big rats, you have to kill the little rats.” — This was broadcast by a Rwanda radio during the genocide in 1994, where some 300,000 children were said to be killed. (Cited from the UNICEF State of the World’s Children 1996 report, section on Children in War) “War violates every right of a child – the right to life, the right to be with family and nurtured and respected”, (Grace Machel, UN, 1996). So, you support freedom as long as it doesn’t hurt sentiments of the fellow citizens? By your logic, if something hurts sentiments of fellow citizens, it should be banned? For example, as a non-religious person, all those religious celebration and displays in public offend me. It also offends me to see elected officials take oath using old books. Should they be banned because those practices hurt my feelings? The idiotic people who don’t even have the basic understanding of free speech and open society hurt my sentiments. Khan, 34, calls himself a gau bhakt and claims to spread the message of cow protection through his talks in Delhi and neighbouring states. RSS leader Indresh Kumar is also the margdarshak (guide) of the RSS affiliate Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), which has published a booklet, “Gai aur Islam” (cow and Islam) — a compilation of articles by Muslim religious leaders highlighting the importance of cow in the religion. He should stop his prejudice supporting RSS with same vocal or stop mediating in the internal affairs of India, where 90% of the total population believes in religion. Rationalist writer KS Bhagawan received 20 threats in day including one from Bhavesh shetty on the social media which police ignored, later found guilty in the murder of Harish. It is no doubt Modi is government found ‘intolerance’ difficult swallow but tolerant anti socials in the social media. Jai Hind

  • From Anand Dsilva on Mangaluru: Traffic Cops Crack Down on Fancy Number Plates

For us in UAE, number plates are issued by the RTA so there us no dispute whatsoever. We can also get fancy plates, if we pay more. In Mangalore unfortunately, there is lack of knowledge and absence of mechanism therefore our traffic police suddenly wake up and issue fines instead of clearly issuing guidelines and grace period to make the changes.

  • From sHaiKH moHD rizwan on At least 14 people killed in Southern California shooting

Dear readers, The developed country which has more guns that its population, invading the countries for regime change,in pursuit of weapons of destruction, axis of evil and terror registering more deaths “Now Die From Guns Than Cars”. The United States is one of the greatest nations in the world. But compared to our peers, we’re one of the worst when it comes to gun violence. In America, you can be shot at an elementary school. You can be murdered at a church or movie theatre. You can even be executed on live TV — and yet there’s no real expectation of gun reform. Gun-related violence and death is a real public health problem in America, researchers say. And these three charts illustrate why. http://www.forbes.com/sites/dandiamond/2015/08/26/americas-gun-violence-problem-in-three-charts/ More Americans killed by guns since 1968 than in all U.S. wars, columnist Nicholas Kristof writes http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2015/aug/27/nicholas-kristof/more-americans-killed-guns-1968-all-wars-says-colu/ ‘White terrorist’ kills 10 students in Oregon in America: US media calls him ‘gunman’, ‘shooter’, NOT terrorist. 1.It is so strange, that despite series of such fatal shootings in America, the ‘mainstream’ refuse to believe that the shooter can belong to ‘them’, ‘their race’. For them, it is always, someone from ‘others’. This is similar to right-wing racist behaviour in India, where it is common to say, ‘Hindu, aatankwadi kaise ho sakta hai?”. [How can someone from the majority community be terrorist?]. This is majoritarian syndrome. 2. In the past, many such shooters have committed massacres in America. But the moment, their race and identity is known, the words used to describe them are ‘soft’. There is talk about their being ‘lonely, ‘disturbed childhood’, ‘recluse’ and similar terms, as if that could justify the killings. 3. Harper was born in England but as a child brought to US. He belonged to ‘upper middle class’, says reports. In some of the photographs, he was seen supporting the extremist outfit, ‘Irish Republican Army’ [IRA]. 4. Every time such an incident occurred, the first suspicion in public forums, social media is on the ‘other’. ‘Others feel the heat, pray that the killer would not be of their community. Media has created a situation where people belonging to majority, dominant culture, can’t be shown as ‘Terrorists’ or ‘Killers’. 5. Here lies the rot. With each incident, there is talk of gun culture in US, but no ‘War on gun culture’ is announced. Nothing changes. The ‘mass killings’ continue, one after the other, these ‘lone wolves’ kill innocents, but the stigma is always for the ‘other’. As the ‘stigma’ won’t go, he will remain the suspect. However, the majority has no need to worry, as an individual belonging to the majority will always have ‘softer terms’ used for their horrendous crimes. The ‘majority’ guy can never be terrorist. That ‘tag’ is reserved for the ‘other’. It’s exactly the same script which we have been watching, playing out on our TV screens and newspapers. So, how can things change? We have seen world get united to denounce the Paris attack organised took march hand in hand, while death and destruction continued in distant colony in Africa. No one lit candle for him because he is ‘Afro’,’Black’,’poor’. They may have have different skin colour but colour of blood is the same flows in their veins. Jai Hind

  • From Shadh on Mangaluru: Traffic Cops Crack Down on Fancy Number Plates

The very purpose of number plate is to identify a vehicle. And so the number plate needs to be of a fixed size and design. Most people choose to go for a sticker since it is cheap. Others want it fancy. In my opinion, the most secure and clearest is the ones like Speedex number plates. This is supposed to be the RTO’s job. The RTO must themselves print the number plate and install it on to the vehicle during registration process and Include this charge in registration fees. This is the format followed in most countries. This way the RTO knows if the vehicle although registered, has even installed a number plate and is it of the right size for that vehicle. Also, the government is burdening the police department to waste their time in such useless activities. How many of the millions of vehicles are they going to inspect and remove the plates themselves. Also, it’s not the vehicle owners fault because he can see even government department vehicles with just mere stickers or painted on the vehicles body itself or sometimes the municipality vehicles don’t even have a number plate. He kept it at home and forgot to get it. So don’t penalise the car owners unless you set an example. Make use of the law for good.
