Youth assaults woman in Kundapur
Kundapur: A case has been registered against a youth for assaulting a woman and causing severe injuries to her at Dattatreya Nagar here on January 22.
The accused has been identified as Nitin (28), from Dattatreya Nagar, Kundapur.
According to the police, On January 22, Sujatha Ganiga (42) and her daughter were returning after attending the festival. When they were approaching their apartment, Nitin who had followed them assaulted Sujatha and is now said to be absconding. Nitin also resides in the same building.
It is learnt that from the past 4 years Nitin was forcing Sujatha’s daughter to marry him but both mother and daughter refused his proposal. Sujatha once warned Nitin that she would complain to the police if he pesters them. Nitin then assured that he would not trouble them in future. But on January 22, Nitin followed both of them and assaulted Sujatha.
Sujatha is now undergoing treatment in the Kundapur government hospital.
A case has been registered in the Kundapur police station and search is on for Nitin.
