Youth Congress Protest Against ED for harassing DKS, Mithun Rai and others Arrested
Mangaluru: The District Youth Congress staged a protest against the harassment of DK Shivakumar by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), in front of the District Congress Office here on August 30.
The protesters shouted slogans against the harassment of D K Shivakumar by the Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax department.
The ED has issued summons to D K Shivakumar to appear before the investigation team in New Delhi. As there were chances of arrest, D K Shivakumar had applied for interim protection but the Karnataka High Court rejected D K Shivakumar’s petition for interim protection from arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Addressing the protesters District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai said, “The BJP government in the centre is misusing various Investigating agencies and trying to fix the Congress leaders in false cases. The officials of Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the income tax department are unnecessarily harassing former minister D K Shivakumar. We condemn the double standards of the NDA government. The Karnataka High Court rejected D K Shivakumar’s petition for Interim protection from arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for his alleged involvement in a money laundering case”.
The protesters blocked the road by shouting slogans against the ED and the Modi led BJP. The police later arrested the protesters including Mithun Rai and other youth leaders.
Youth Congress leaders Praveen Chandra Alva, Suhail Kandak, Lawrence D’Souza, Praveen Coelho and others were also present.
