Youth Held for Attempt to Rape College Girl at Bengeri
Kundapur: In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old youth was arrested for allegedly trying to rape a college student in Bengeri, Gangolli Police station limits.
The incident occurred on June 29 and the victim filed a complaint in the Gangolli police station on June 30.
The accused has been identified as Sooraj (19), a resident of Bavikatte Gangolli of Kundapur Taluk.
According to the police, the victim Savitha (name changed), who is studying in PUC, works as a maid after her classes to meet the expenses for her education. On June 29, after college, while she was on her way to work. The accused, Sooraj followed her and attempted to rape her in a deserted area.
When Savitha screamed for help, her sister who was also on her way home at the time, heard her cry and rushed for help. Savitha’s sister rescued her and took her home.
On June 30, Savitha filed a complaint in the Gangolli police station. Based on her complaint, the Gangolli police arrested Sooraj on June 30.
It is learnt that Sooraj had also previously tried to rape three other girls.
