Youth should Recognise their Strength – Sashi Tharoor
Manipal: Youth should recognise their strength for comprehensive innovation for the society said MP and Chairman Parliamentary Affairs Committee (External Affairs) Sashi Tharoor. He was interacting with the students during the Teenovators programme organised by Manipal University in association with INK at Manipal Institute of Technology here on January 20.
We should stop comparing to others but focus on the right path. 25% of the society is still suffering the stigma of poverty, hunger and other basic necessities. Innovations should be centred towards the growth of the deprived and the society at large. We should innovate in non-traditional means as an approach to traditional issues.
Unemployment is affecting the country and it could be a possible threat. Unemployed men can be a huge threat to the society at large. The teenovators have to play an important role in facilitating effective innovations to strengthen the economy by discovering employable opportunities.
The quality of work prevails over the quantity of work, quality innovations should strengthen the economy. Overcoming of 200 years of exploitation shows that we have come a long way. When the British left India, the nation was 17% literate with 90% of the population living below poverty line.
The average age of an Indian during 2020 will be 29, which reflects we have an immense amount of youth population which will be contributing to the Indian economy. The age factor should be effectively seized and employable opportunities should be effectively utilised.
The Indian Monetary Fund had predicted tremendous growth in 2015 but due to the demonetization of the currency, there is a partial impact on the economy. The damage can be rectified by recapturing possible economical sources.
TATA Nano is called a marketing disaster but the world admires the innovation which has strengthened our innovating perspectives. We managed to orbit mars in the first attempt with minimal resources that shows our innovative ability.
“In politics, you can share ideas effectively but you need a thick skin as it is harsh at times. I may be born in England but when I look in the mirror if find Indian in me, he added”.
