Zero Development and Failed promises Hallmark of Modi Government – DK Mahila Congress
Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada Mahila Congress staged a protest against the NDA government led by PM Narendra Modi, in front of the DCC office, Mallikatta here on May 26.
The protesters shouted anti-Modi slogans and demanded reduction of fuel prices which have “sky-rocketed”.
Addressing the protesters, the president of the District Mahila Congress Shalet Pinto said, “When the UPA government was in power, the fuel price in the international market was $140 per barrel but now the crude oil price in the international market is only $77 per barrel while the petrol price is Rs 84 per liter. When the UPA government was in power, BJP leaders got down to the streets and protested against the price hike but now, the same leaders are maintaining silence.”
Pinto further said, “Prime minister Modi had assured to credit Rs 15 lakh into the account of every citizen if he comes to power. But even now after four years of his tenure, he did not even credited a single rupee in to the account of any person. Instead, through Jan Dhan, Modi has put the common man in trouble. People believed Modi and opened accounts through Jan Dhan depositing Rs 1000, but now after deductions, the balance amount in the accounts has come down to Rs 200. Modi had promised the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana as a rural development programme but our MP has failed to develop any of the villages.”
Pinto further said, “Modi spoke about eliminating corruption but we have recently seen the BJP leaders in Karnataka offering Rs 100 crores to buy the opposition MLAs. How did the BJP leaders get so much money to bribe the opposition MLAs? Another scheme of Modi, ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, seems to be a joke since daughters are not safe in our country under the BJP rule. Some BJP leaders are involved in rape cases. So the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana is also one of the failed schemes. We urge the NDA government to provide protection to girls and women and also to reduce fuel prices.”
Former minister U T Khader said, “The NDA government led by PM Modi has failed to discuss the issue related to students, youth and farmers. Job creation is the need of the hour. If we don’t discuss on creating jobs, providing good education to the students and to solve the farmers problems, the country will not develop. Before coming to power, Modi said that he will be the gatekeeper of the country. But after coming to power, Neerav Modi looted crores of Rupees and fled from the country and our gatekeeper has maintained silence. Modi went to Pakistan to attend a wedding, but when our soldiers were killed by Pakistan, Modi maintained silence. He did not even visit the family members of the soldiers and console them. This is the double standard by Modi. There is a hike in the price of fuel every day but BJP leaders have maintained silence. When the UPA government was in power, the same BJP leaders had protested when there was a hike in the price of fuel. Modi has one more year to fulfill his promises. If he fails to fulfill his promises, the people of this country will give him a befitting reply in the coming elections.”
DCC President Harish Kumar and others were also present.
