ZP CEO Sindhu Roopesh inaugurates Udupi District-level Police Sports meet
Udupi: The annual district-level police sports meet was inaugurated at the District Stadium Ajjarkad here on Monday, December 3.
Sindhu Roopesh B IAS chief executive officer of Udupi Zilla Panchayat inaugurated the three-day annual district-level police sports meet by freeing the pigeons and releasing balloons in the air.
The programme started with a march by members of the six teams, who sported different colour t-shirts. Sports champion Yogesh Naik brought the torch to the district grounds.
Addressing the gathering Sindhu Roopesh said that sports and games are important to all of us to stay healthy and physically fit. Sports are a healthy exercise. For a healthy body, we need to actively take part in sports. Sports will keep a person fit and healthy and it greatly helps to relieve stress, she said.
Earlier, an impressive march-past was held by the different teams of the police participating in the annual sports meet. After the inauguration, Sahadev RSI DAR Udupi administered the oath to the participants.
Additional DC Vidya Kumari, Assistant Commissioner Kundapur T Bhoobalan, DCF Prabhakaran were also present.
The three-day police sports meet will conclude on December 5. Arun Chakravarthy IGP western range will be the chief guest and distribute the prizes.
Laxman Nimbarigi SP Udupi welcomed the gathering. Kumarchandra Additional SP delivered the vote of thanks.
