  • From Ryan D'Souza on Cancer Kills! Wilma D'Souza-a Lovable Mother of 5 Lost her Life with Cancer at Age 53

Dear Readers, This Article took me on a flashback beginning from the days When Edwin was courting Wilma to their life together as husband and wife to when the kids came on the scene through their days of strugle to stability to celebrate her elder sons wedding to her fight with the the dreaded C !!!! Wilma was always Special and stood tall and unique with her Kindness , Simplicity, warmth and caring personality !!! A Role Model Mother who kept the family together at All times and the Crowd at her funeral was witness to her Popularity in her Vaddo/Family & Friends. I was most moved when I visited Mangalore in 2013 to shoot my Video ” Anjea Sarkhen Chedunn “.She Looked after my Entire Crew of Eight boys for a whole week and Invited All of us for a grand Noven Jovan on the last day of the Shoot and Even chipped in with Sponsorship when she knew I was running low on funds to complete the Shoot. I cherish memories of Wilma spending time with my Mother ( Late Agnes D’Souza) who was extremely fond of her and always went out of her way to make our holidays in Mangalore Special !!! “Kain bhovnthath re thumi ?? Ghara yeyath re zovunk….still rings in my ears whenever I think of her. You are deeply missed and I will be Ever Grateful to you WILMA Delora D’Souza….Peace and Luv Till we Meet Again !! Original Paimaam of USA, the ace self certification expert, adds one more certificate for himself! Now, he claims that he has the “Intellectual Honesty”. A man, who wants to help RSS to divide Hindus and Muslims on the beef issue, with the ulterior motive to fortify their Hindu Vote Bank, and who has no honesty to admit the fact that even Modi’s ‘altar ego’, Swami Vivekananda, too has declared that beef eating is the normal ” Rig Vedic Arya Sanatan Parampara”. “intellectual Honesty” is a shame, if what Paimaam claims is a fact.

It’s a shame such silly news has to appear on the front page. Cricket, religion and bollywood are the greatest of evils holding India back. These have successfully indoctrinated Indians from focussing on things that really matter.

For once, I fully agree with Henry James (Bond)!!! Cricket, religion and Bollywood – all three are highly overrated. Especially, cricket and Bollywood are beyond pathetic!! For the amount of resources and time we spend on these things, we have failed to produce true, world class results. Bollywood (and equally pathetic regional) movies are laughable with immature, cheesy acting and silly songs.

If the Temple can be built without causing any further bloodshed, that is fine. It must be done with mutual negotiation with the Muslims. It is terribly sad that through religious bitterness and hatred, India has witnessed greater tragedies in the past. If the BJP party had no solid intention to build the Ram Mandir, using the Ram Mandir promise at the election rallies to pocket more votes from the electorate was a very sub-standard political character.

Thank you God for giving me the most priceless of all treasures, Help my Lord to keep alive her memory here with us forever. This guy is a topcop ? WOW! Who gives pin number over the phone? There are two good things coming out of this story: – The bad guys were caught immediately because police head himself was cheated. If it was some ordinary raama-dhooma, it wouldn’t have happened for Rs.10,000!! – Shows the competency levels of our top officers who are supposed to keep us safe. This guy clearly has no idea on how to handle private, confidential things.

Surprise surprise! It happened to Head of the law enforcement division after he gave his pin number over phone to a stranger pretending himself as an employee of the bank. With all his experience and dealings with similar cases, it is rather stupid for anybody, let alone the Head of the police department, to provide pin number over phone even if asked by the bank employees. He deserved to lose the money withdrawn but did not by virtue of his position and the resources he has.

Here is Father Francis Gomes – a person of GREAT QUALITIES OF HEART AND MIND. During his stint of many years in Puttur, he indeed rendered wonderful service to The Community. The best gift one can another is THE GIFT OF EDUCATION and this is exactly what Father Francis has done in his life and career. He is remembered with love and admiration in Puttur and I am told that he had a tearful send-off from that area. During his three years stint in Mangalore he gained the love, admiration and respect from all those who came in contact with him. The large number of people who accompanied him to Mulky on his re-location is a an indication of their admiration and regard for this educationalist. He has left behind great and loving memories behind. May God help him in his future assignment.

I don’t understand why five star facility is needed to attract tourists. In western countries people / government try to preserve natural beauty which they have very less but in India we have so much natural beauty people/government try to ruin it. I had been to madikere when harengi dam was under construction, I loved it but last year I visited, its all gone, If this happens in couple of years madikere will be concrete town losing all beauty.

Dear Mr.Prashanth nayak, My comments are not meant to disrespect the good of the organisation. These days ‘Swatch Bharath’ which is stolen from Father of nation Gandhi just to rebrand for phoshops. As a Indian first we must have respect to our mother country. You can’t sell ‘Beatle leaf’ ask the user to carry spit bin together. The lack of awareness is missing from the very young age and school education. We Indians have very good civic sense when in foreign nation than in our own motherland. No matter how many sundays of calendar year is spent on cleaning, unless we don’t educate the filth overflowing again before it is cleaned. The infrastructure and waste management is one of core area need immediate attention. It won’t take much time once ‘Garden city’ of Metropolis with row of flower blossoming tree and lakes to be renamed as ‘Garbage city’. When Gandhi has no bar for cleaning his own toilets, just stealing his ‘Goggles’ just make India ‘Swatch’.The mission needs to spread awareness from the pan chewers to open toilets under the blue skies. This why cleaning ‘Gangs’ is utter failure of PM Modi’s mission, when we dispose dead bodies citing religious angle and drink the same water as holy were industries let affluent. Jai hind

The picture painted by Air Marshal Cariappa of the future of Madikeri and Kodagu in general is frightening. But all one has to do is look around Madikeri town and its surroundings to see that its just a matter of time before the Air Marshals fears come to pass . JCBs cutting through once picturesque hillocks for constructions and layouts are a common sight. This degradation will continue as long as the authorities in charge have only a myopic view and no long term plan for the well being of Kodagu and the environment . For those of us who love Kodagu , its indeed a sad sight.

  • From Rakesh Sharma on What is Kodagu’s Future in the Years Ahead? - Asks Air Marshal K C Cariappa

The Air Marshal has raised many valid points and asked an equal number of questions. Sadly, most of his questions can be answered at one go. We are in this mess because our regulatory bodies celebrate their appointments, not because it gives them a chance to protect the public and ensure their greater good but, instead, they view their appointment as an opportunity to subvert and run aground all efforts at sustainability and eco-conservation for pecuniary benefits – to themselves. The Ministers in charge of these portfolios (Environment, Tourism, Transport, Town Planning etc.) at State levels at least, do not know better or, if they do; do not care, for they are all a part of this ill gotten ‘food chain’. I am afraid that most of Air Marshal Cariappa’s fears will come true in the very near future just as he has pointed out. I am also sure that when things reach such a pass that action just HAS to be taken, to repair our broken system, the late intervention will be cosmetic and inadequate. We elect our Ministers while the civil servants are paid out of the exchequer financed by us tax payers. We expect this team to protect our short and long term interests; to be pro-active, to look ahead, anticipate and block the greed of insensitive builders and developers. Instead, we see this team running helter skelter to set right situations that should never have occurred in the first place. They seem to be very good at closing the barn door after the horses have bolted. If that is all this team is capable of, we would be doing as well by electing scythes and paying stable hands out of the exchequer instead!

  • From Max and Jessie Rasquinha on Mangaluru: MLC Ivan D'Souza Inaugurates 'INLAND Espana' at Bejai

Congratulations to Inland Buildings of Mangalore for joining the team of many other Builders and creating an additional feather on the bonnet of Architecture in Mungalooru. The buildings are increasing and the design and quality of architecture is also changing for better thereby creating additional charm for the City of Mangalore. As Shriman Ivan D'[Souza indicated, it is nice for Inland Builders to be transformed into Inland International. Adaption towards the Building codes in the International world is slightly different from that prevailing in India. For instance, the United States has different codes and different restrictions attached to any kind of architecture that is introduced on any land that anyone wishes to develop into a Housing or a Business or even a Recreational concept. Development of broad roads with suitable provision for power lines, water lines, gas lines, telephone lines, and even fire hydrants for fire hazards is all a MUST before any permit issued for any other development. Each and every development is attached with a TAX. Even when the construction of any development is commenced, the City demands that under no circumstances the daily life of the City is disturbed in any form, including the normal passage for human beings to pass without any hindrance or safety hazard. Anykind from the construction debris has to be removed without fail. Non-compliance of any of the above Rules are heavily fined and therefore any or all construction of any kind or size have to abide by the Rules. Any deviation of City Codes due to any under-hand dealings will face serious consequences including imprisonment. It is a fascinating experience to witness the code of ethics that go along with building of any dwellings in the United States. Above all the above factors, even the ENVIRONMENTAL requirements are strictly maintained so that there is no pollution of any kind due to any kind of violation. All these factors are very important for any consideration when it comes to construction. That is why and how the Towns, Cities and the Mega Cities are designed and implemented. All these requirements are so very useful for a short term and long term life of a Community as a whole. Once the project of any construction is completed then comes the collection of garbage and disposal. The State, the City and the Community are all part of the “Maintenance and Order” for people to live and live happily with systems and order. God bless the Inland Builderrs in all their future endeavors.

It is a very sad and disturbing issue. A stitch in time would have saved lot of embarrassment to the faithful and the clergy. It is a lesson to all of us. When the parish priest chooses to ignore the provisions of the constitution of the parish council, the faithful choose to remain silent and the authorities choose to close their eyes, the inevitable has to happen. Eternal vigilance alone will keep the machinery on its right track. Transparency should be the sine qua non of the Catholic church, priest being the model of Christ. I wish that the issue is handled by the diocesan authorities as per the Canon law. Accountability of public funds is the basic tenet of Christianity. Let the bishop demonstrate that he tolerates no injustice by conducting an impartial inquiry and take appropriate action to redress grievances of the parishioners. Let this episode serve as an eye opener to both the faithful and the clergy.

  • From Mangal on Mangaluru: Tulunada Rakshana Vedike Stages Protest to Ban Maggi Noodles

I wish all success to the Vedike with their protests, burning of flags and posters, and any other activity that will make them healthier and happier. But I think they are terribly mixed up with the story with the noodles. They have equated “a harmful chemical content” to “monosodium glutamate” which again is equated to “lead”. May be the Vedike folks have found out something new to science. All the best with their research. Just a side note. The Chinese, Koreans and the Japanese have been consuming huge quantities of MSG (I think the Japanese started it with the brand of Aji-no-moto) for a hundred years. And they are among the world’s healthiest people. What the Vedike folks may not be aware is that MSG occurs very naturally, and plenty of it is found in tomatoes, potatoes and many other vegetables. Talking of which I might also add that miniscule quantities of lead is found in many foods, especially fish. None of which has been sent to the laboratories. Imagine what the laboratories will find if the dried fish from our own Kudla is sent to the laboratories! I think I will happily eat the branded noodles (although in actual fact I have not eaten them at all) any time, but will think a 100 times before consuming Kudla’s dry fish.

  • From Francis on Mangaluru: Allegations by Some Cordel Parishioners are Baseless - Fr Valerian

It’s quite evident that there have been irregularities on finance management. Though I am not from that area, I have kept close watch of the construction activities that were taken by the priest including a failed attempt to demolish and re-build the church building during his tenure. Majority of the clergy have been highly successful in divide and rule and thus have been successful in swindling people’s money for personal gains. Sadly there are some good priests who abide by their religious oath. I still believe we the people are to be blamed. As long as we are not united and give ourselves to be divided and ruled we will be robbed. At this parish I hope people will come together to get the ex-parish priest to pay up for the deficit. It’s time that we realize we can help the poor and needy directly without having to give money through a religious institution and any work related to construction or maintenance activity can be undertaken by the people. Let’s open our eyes and be practical..!

What one can gather from the detailed report is that there has been large scale diversion/siphoning of of church funds collected in the name of development from the faithful!! Unlike earlier times when people used to say, whenever such instances took place like God will give justice, nowadays the scenario has changed and the faithful are fed up of such incidents taking on a regular basis albeit on a smaller scale!! His highness the Bishop should demand for a thorough probe in the interest of the sanctity of the church and the blind trust reposed by the faithful in the admininistration of the church and get the true picture in front of the laity!! If such type of nefarious instances continue happening more and more of the hardcore faithful will lose trust in the church as has already happened in most advanced countries!! The question is how far can the stark truth be suppressed by inducing the fear of God, forgiveness because one is a priest etc., it is going to balloon to a big issue in the times to come as the faithful do not get satisfactory answers for their queries as they have the full right to ask for the same as the church belongs to each one of its parishioners!! Hope better sense will prevail and the entire truth is brought in front of the faithful!! Jai Hind!!

  • From Max and Jessie Rasquinha on Mangaluru: Monsoon Arrives with a Big Bang, Heavy Rains with Thunder and Lightning Lash District

Rain is an act of God. Rain is a blessing for every country, particularly populated countries such as India where water is a precious commodity. Due to lack of proper drainage or proper conservation methods of saving the precious water from rain, there will always be disruption for the road traffic due to accumulation of water. Just last week Houston and Dallas, Texas were flooded with ten feet of water by blocking major highways and skyways and disrupting the movements for several days. Thousands of homes in low levels were drifted away. Thousands of vehicles that got caught with heavy water tide on the broad highways were virtually under water after floating in the water like toys. When torrential rains hit the City unexpectedly, weather forecasts become redundant and you are at the mercy of God so that your home is saved and your family is safe. In times of weather crisis or any other major calamity that takes place beyond human control, it is advisable to remain calm and peaceful and render a hand of help to all those that are at the helm of their responsibilities in the Cities or Counties or even Punchayats. All said and done, we need rain for our daily survival. We need our water wells to remain safe, and so also our water pipes and water tanks. We need to save ourselves from the insects or mosquitos that sprout as a result of the stagnant water by timely spraying insecticides. Meanwhile let it rain, let it rain, so that our rice fields become wet and that our farmers will be able to toil and bring us the gift of the season that will last us for our year long needs. Let our rivers get filled with enough rain water, and so also our water wells and lakes. Let us find more ways to conserve the rain water so that the water can be used in proportion from season to season. Let our City fathers bring some more water experts so that they can think of some timely measures and save the people from any major disaster. God bless.

  • From Max and Jessie Rasquinha on Mangaluru: Raknno Prakashan books released and editorial responsibility handed over

RAKNO has been a household name that brought the news, particularly relating to the Diocese of Mangalore much before any other Konkany Newspaper surfaced in Mangalore. After Rakno, I remember, came “Pionnari”, “Mithr”, “Umalho” and many other weekly publications. Rakno has enlightened us with the Parish News as well as the general news of Mangalore much before we had the benefit of the All India Radio or any other News medias. Rakno was also privileged to have some good Editors who were priests that lived at the Bishops House and covered a wide media that helped the Christians as to what was going on in the Diocese and elsewhere. To the best of our recollection, the Konkany media has played an excellent role in the community of Mangalore. We do not recollect any kind of negative messages that came out of Rakno. The subscription was also quite low and my father could afford to subscribe for the Rakno that brought essential news from the Parishj as well as from the Diocese with essential announcements that kept us informed of all the essential ‘tid-bits”. Thank you, Rakno, for your dedication towards our Community, and also the link of events that you thoughtfully conveyed to the Christian people of Mangalore. You were the best guide of the Community and you reflected the name “Rakno” very well by connecting the Mangalore Diocese with the people.

  • From Anand Dsilva on Thou Shalt Not Steal! 'Parish Priest Scammed Over Rs 1 Crore of Church Funds' say Faithful

Kulshekar parish has a notorious history of confrontation with their priests from long time whoever has been the vicar there. I am not a fan of priests but doubt the above could be a perception. Why it was Rs 1 crore not Rs 90 lakhs or not Rs 1.25 crores. When a priest assumes role of a vicar in a new parish there are lot of expectations and changes that need to be made. He has to take the lead and then parishioners comment. The priest is so old so why would he swindle this much money at his age when he has no family of his own. The priest is not directly responsible in handling finance and I am sure there are book keepers to do the job. Has he confirmed that Rs 1 crore has been swindled? Normally people know about the income but do they know the expenditures too? Bigger the church more the expenses on day to day maintenance. If one carefully observes the collection box (tithing) on Sunday most people still put coins or small denomination notes. This money meets only the candle, electricity and other expenses of running the church.

A policy paralysis government luxury, gifts are part of BJP Dharbar surpassing even ‘Queen of England’ and Mughal empire. As evidence to meaningless expenditure; ‘Amazing atmosphere at the reception hosted by Indian High Commissioner in Colombo. This is about Rs 59 crore more than the Rs 258 crore the UPA-II cabinet had spent in its last year in office (2013-14), but in keeping with UPA’s average spend on the head through its five year-term. This travel bill includes expenditure on travel by cabinet ministers, ministers of state and ex-PMs and maintenance of aircraft used by VVIPs: the ones used by Prime Minister, President and Vice President. At Rs 14 crore, the salary and allowances bills of the 65-member Modi’s council of ministers have been almost the same as that of the 75-member UPA cabinet. The expenditure of the PMO, though, has gone up to Rs 40 crore in 2014-15, compared to Rs 31 crore of UPA’s last year in office. Information sought on Modi’s foreign travel expenses ‘too vague and wide’ to be revealed, RTI reply from PMO says http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Information-sought-on-Modis-foreign-travel-expenses-too-vague-and-wide-to-be-revealed-RTI-reply-from-PMO-says/articleshow/46561753.cms Of the 220 days in office last year (from May 26, 2014 to December 31, 2014), Modi was abroad for 24 days. This means he was in a foreign country ONCE IN NINE DAYS since he became the Prime Minister. Though the PMO now stonewalled queries related to the money spent on Modi’s foreign tours, in 2013 it disclosed the amount spent on the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s air travels expenses — Rs 642 crore in nine years. The amount was revealed under the mandatory proactive disclosure clause of the RTI Act. The globe trotting PM Modi’s one year travel expenditure is already touched Rs 380 crores half of MM Singh’s spending in 9 years. The government has ordered a cut of nearly 20% in its 2014-15 healthcare budget due to fiscal strains, putting at risk key disease control initiatives in a country whose public spending on health is already among the lowest in the world.India spends about 1% of its gross domestic product (GDP) on public health, compared to 3% in China and 8.3% in the US. The United Nations estimates about one third of the world’s 1.2 billion poorest people live in India. A PM Modi’s ‘Aache Din’ already taking toll with hike of 14% in service tax and railways. When world famous economist ruled India,He sold petrol for Rs.67 when crude oil sold for $147. When I saw them dying earlier in life, I was confused, why those healthy rich people were dying too early in life? One rich Doctor and a well known studio owner died early in life without any apparent reason; the doctor due to heart attack and the studio owner due to cancer which was quite rare in those days. Two of the mass killers of humanity are smoking and liquor consumption. How many millions are dying, spending long duration in the hospital and wasting money for mere smoking? There must be a massive campaign to stop the deadly stylist epidemic of smoking. Since the author had to meet many people affected with the smoke-related diseases, the article was explicit and comprehensive.

Through injecting fear and lies about the other group, the virus of hatred is sown, and that will grow up every day; more feedback from evil spirited people will make small seed into a big deadly plant which can destroy and kill many. When we learn about some of the most ruthless autocrats of history, how they began to grow in bitterness-hatred and the fun of bloodshed of the innocent people. On the other hand, when we study the life story of some of the greatest humanitarians, they took a different path of loving the humanity and God used them to wipe the tears of the millions, besides their life story will motivate and inspire the posterity to be honorable humanitarians.

  • From shaiKh moHd rizwan on This Thing Called Cancer

Dear readers, In Eastern democracies like India, the public image of a political party often matters more than its actual performance. The party image revolves around three pivots. The first is: How clean is the government? Then how strong is it in protecting national interest on the security front? The third and unfortunately the least important is: How has the government performed in core areas of governance and economy? By all accounts, the Modi government would get a high score if one were to compare its performance in core areas and the economy with the first year of previous governments. But this too has come under attack now with a parliamentary committee headed by the BJP MP from Ahmednagar in Maharashtra, Dilip Kumar Gandhi, clearly marching to the tune of the tobacco lobby in the country, which is responsible for 9,00,000 deaths every year due to tobacco-related diseases, mainly cancer. The committee was to decide by April 1 whether the size of the pictorial warning on the cigarette packet should be increased to over 80 per cent from the current 30 per cent. The tobacco lobby had been politically active trying to derail the proposal as studies have found that the advertising and pictorial campaign against intake of tobacco has great psychological impact on smokers and tobacco chewers, thus dissuading them to leave tobacco and affecting the sale of tobacco products. Gandhi virtually gave in to the pro-tobacco lobby at great cost to the BJP government’s clean image at the centre by deferring the decision. Gandhi said, “There is no Indian survey report to prove that tobacco consumption leads to cancer. All studies are done abroad… We have to study the Indian context, as four crore people in states like Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh are dependent on bidi-making through tendupatta”. Have your say. You can comment here.Gandhi’s sweeping statement that left the BJP leaders red-faced triggered speculation. The most virulent among them was whether the honest Dr Harshvardhan was deprived of the health ministry portfolio because of the pressure of the tobacco lobby and whether the present health minister JP Nadda was also allegedly batting for the gutka czars whose lifestyle marked by expensive cars and Bollywood style mansions has often been the envy of many in the corporate world. Nadda, of course, reiterated his government’s resolve to increase deterrents against tobacco consumption. This demonstrated by the government of “propagating and promoting tobacco lobby” in India to common man’s peril and wondered whether former Health Minister Harsh Vardhan was removed from the ministry last year due to his anti-tobacco stand.Who is responsible for putting a beedi baron whose annual turnover is over Rs 200 crore on a parliamentary panel that was to decide the fate of millions of Indians? Will the person be held accountable? Why didn’t the panel speak to any doctors, health experts? Why didn’t the Health Ministry not give any formal evidence to the committee? Will the Prime Minister, who tweeted so passionately on World No Tobacco Day give a personal commitment that India won’t go back on 85 percent warnings? Won’t a revised 60-65 percent notification be a victory for the tobacco lobby? “Modi government is actively pursuing the policy of propagating and promoting tobaco lobby in India to the peril of the common citizen. A “penny to make dollar to sell” of tobacco lobby is already addicted to the different genders regardless of age.The opening budget of PM Modi government has unexpectedly ordered a near 20% cut in India’s healthcare budget for the current financial year, owing to financial constrains. Over 60bn rupees ($947m, £609m, €775m) has been slashed from the Health Ministry’s budget allocation of around $5bn for the financial year ending 31 March, 2015, an unnamed ministry official told Reuters. The move could jeopardise crucial disease control initiatives in a nation whose public spending on health is already among the lowest in the world. The UN has estimated that about a third of the world’s 1.2 billion poorest people live in India, Asia’s third largest economy. To rub salt to the injury PM Modi’s ‘Sab ka sath, sab ka vikas’ gifted common man by increasing Cancer drug price from Rs 8,000 to Rs 1.08 lakh. Cancer drug price goes up from Rs 8,000 to Rs 1.08 lakh http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-cancer-drug-price-goes-up-from-rs-8000-to-rs-108-lakh-2022667 A policy paralysis governance driven by super brain economist like Jaitly,Junior Sinha,Arun shourie, should explain the nation, how does this government will shoulder budget of staggering 90,000 crores per annum to run ‘BULLET TRAIN’ which slashed health budget citing financial constraint to one of lowest in the world? When there is no need the parish priests go ahead with various constructions in the churches. Where the hall rent goes? The people pour money when the priest announces from the altar. Priests use the trick of curse whoever stands for justice. In these types of scams who has to curse whom? It is high time that people take over financial matters and priests handle only spiritual responsibilities. Kumsar kumgar, resper, baptizm santuksanv. Otherwise bigger scams will follow. There are examples of priests asking the donors to write the cheques to their personal name. People should demand receipt for their donation.

  • From Max and Jessie Rasquinha on Saverapura - A new parish in Mangaluru Diocese

What a pleasure to learn that the 116th Parish is now born under Mangalore Diocese and that the new Parish is named as Saverapura near Katpadi. A small monument has now been created in a remote area for the benefit of a few dozens of Catholic families where the presence of God will continue to shower His blessings upon the people in a place where St. Francis Xavier will bring his special blessings upon the priests that will continue to bring renewed faith and peace amongst people. The priests responsible in conducting the religious services in remote areas have a tremendous task to shoulder because of so many scarcities and difficulties. The priests act like the “uncrowned Governors” of the Punchayat Raj by joining hands with handful of parishnors and asking God’s merciful hands to be placed upon the simple village where the faithful will show to the World that God’s presence is everywhere. We have had the privilege of visiting the Alangar Church a few years ago just to listen to the wonderful choir that they perform on every Sunday morning. The CD that they sent us is still being played in our simple household and the wonderful voices and the lyrics are very much enjoyed by all of us. We would like ton visit SAVERAPURA some time whenever convenient. We are great believers in visiting new Churches because they say that God has greater listening power in a New Church, and the favors are granted by God much quicker than the older churches. That;s why whenever we travel abroad, all over the world, we always make it a point to visit a new Church and place our humble cravings before God for swifter blessings.

  • From Max and Jessie Rasquinha on Mangaluru: He Came, He Saw, He Conquered Hearts of Milagreans! Fond Farewell to Fr FX Gomes

Thanks, Alfie, for your detailed article on Fr. Felix Gomes who is retiring from Milagres High School after a successful assignment. Intellectuals and Administrators involved in the Educational field find it very painful to leave the school environment where they nurture hundreds of students and groom them to be successful in their career assignments. Teaching is a most delicate assignment where an individual gives the very best to the Institution, and once they create a strong bond with not only the students but also the faculty members it is very painful to say ‘good bye’. Educational values instilled by the individuals towards an Institution find it very difficult to move to another location. All said and done, Fr. Felix Gomes will be missed at Milagres School. He will be an asset in the new Institute that he has been selected to move, and many other hundreds of students will be benefitted by his teachings and his wise leadership. Life is a transition that takes us from one end to another thru a journey that has so many ups and downs. Parting with an Institution that one gives the very best has lot to suffer, but ultimately the new place gets the benefit, and the life goes on. I havd spent three years at Milagres from the year 1949 to 1951, and I distinctly remember when one Fr. Pinto, the powerful and disciplined Headmaster stepped down from his position and his place was taken over by one Fr. Rasquinha. Meetings and partings are all part of the emotional journey one has to go thru. Thank you, Fr. Felix, and wish you best of luck in all your future undertakings.

Its quite unfortunate that the clergy is galvanized by peoples sentiments and not to mention inaction of our Mangalorean Bishop Today there is no accountability of funds received from believers. There is no check on personal expenses of clergy, foreign trips etc No control of commercial activities like ‘renting church hall’ (not to mention exhorbitant charges) Attitudes of clergy these days are like zamindars. They like to be served. If I’m not wrong the role of this priests in police atrocities in Kulshekar church is also questionable.

Fr. Valerian Pinto is one of the most charismatic and fearless priests our Mangalore diocese has at the moment. I have known him since my childhood when he was the parish priest of Nakre Church as I had constant interaction with him due to our church youth activities. He is an able administrator and considered to be a strong orator. His works speaks of his ability and especially the way he handled the Church affairs during the infamous attrocities against Christians during the previous BJP Government in Karnataka. It is bit hard to believe that he has swindled the Church funds for his personal use. I only hope the truth comes out soon and our trust in our Clergy’s restored.

Interesting! Many may not be aware that over fifty years ago, the Kallugundi church near Sampaje on the DK-Kodagu boundary, which is also dedicated to St Francis Xavier, had the name ‘Saverapura’ given to the place by the-then parish priest, the late Fr Leo Cutinha. It has not somehow been used by his successors. Fr Cutinha also had the credit of giving the school run by the church which is dedicated to ‘Little Flower’ St Theresa a name with an ethnic touch – ‘Kiriya Pushpa’ in Kannada. Just thought of giving the man his due.

Modi should provide places to plug-in for those who cannot control their bowel movement. Cleaner city starts from you, me and then MLAs with self discipline. The Chaddiwalas should keep cows away from city and collect “Gomoothra” for curing the cancer. Export all the stray dogs to Philippines. Then again, you may not like this because of your ardent love for “Mookapranis” If we do not do anything positive to keep the city clean, apart from blaming the MLA Lobo, we will remain as Mookapranis too. Prohibiting religious conversion is a solid violation of the fundamental human freedom charted by the U.N. in 1945. If the 300 million Dalits are converting to other religions, they will be getting more opportunity to get educated and to be free from the religious slavery. This religious slavery has an underlying economic vested interest; thus to keep the lowest sector of the society as voiceless slaves for ever. The anti-conversion proponents will not dare to question a well to do or educated person in his or her choice to change religion.

They simply wrapped it with cloth and left. I have confronted them regarding this but they did not care. I have informed Don’t Care Lady Engineer, Executive Engineer who is retired recently,Mayor Rajni’s office, and Water Dept. Engineer. Duplicated the calls again and again without result. Finally the ground started saturating, and flowing under the house of Mr. C.Nazareth and exited from Kadri Road to Kambla Road,Near Soans Workshop. Even the local Corporator did not care even after MCC informed Him. Just imagine the Volume of Treated Drinking Water was washed down the ground. Corporators and other elected officials are for Ribbon Cutting,Hand Rubbing and Photo on Banners Publicity(may be a free apartment and or a new Santo car.). Who cares attitude of MCC officials is cause of Concern. Only Hope is Mr JR Lobo and Present City Commissioner with their tough stand.

Rizwan’s comments don’t deserve any merit. Rizwan may be one of the few fortunate ones who may be able to control his own family, but I doubt whether he has control over his extended family members. The events like this happen everywhere, in India, developed or developing countries, rich or the poor. When we cannot control our own family members, how can we expect Modi or any other superman, even with a chest measuring 100″, could control the vast number of people in a democratic and poor country like India, with divergent interests, values and ethics.

Dear Dr. Maya, I would like to add a little to your write-up by way of a positive response. In India we do not have a regulated and self-regulating public sphere as in the West. Just take the education field you have written about: In South Canara you have several private education empires: the Catholic empire, the Dharmasthala empire, the Poojary empire, the GSB empire, the Brahmin empire and the Bunts empire. Each of these empires is only interestd in 100% result and money-minting. Given this, what would you expect? As for students, in South Canara as elsewhere in India, not many would know the difference between a Kuvempu University correspondence course which assuredly gives you 79-80% and doing the same course in a good univesity under qualified professors (who may not give away first classes).

Well said lecture, to put into practice; Oh, you pundiths, nuns, teachers!! Not only corporal punishment but/and also the following points to consider. Children Learn What They Live By Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D. If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn. If children live with hostility, they learn to fight. If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive. If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves. If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy. If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy. If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty. If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence. If children live with tolerance, they learn patience. If children live with praise, they learn appreciation. If children live with acceptance, they learn to love. If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves. If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal. If children live with sharing, they learn generosity. If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness. If children live with fairness, they learn justice. If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect. If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them. If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live. Then an ordinary visit to the DC, Mr.Ibrahim( a truly good human being and gentleman) would have ensured instant action anyway without the need for any photo sessions or drama ! Perhaps Mr.Hegde would do better with his energies by enrolling students in govt. schools, which are in fact begging for students to be enrolled in their school, and in working toward the improvement of quality and conditions in govt. schools ! e.g.:A primary school( 1st to 7th class) located at Karianangady, Belvai GP, has only 3-4 teachers and only about a total of 35 students ,who are all bunched into the same class and taught different lessons!

Dear friends, I missed 2 important points in my earlier response, which I want put up here: 1. Flag post The flag post was removed for relocation to another location as it was blocking the main entrance of the premises. However, the Godman brought the Ashoka from where it was kept, buried under the rubble and took pictures to be published in the media to malign our name. He knew very well that he had nothing else, which can stand against us. 2. Rs 1 Crore Education Fund The Godman has been extensively spreading the news among parents and local public that I have collected Rs1 Crore in his name and not given him, which is why he could not continue the building construction. The absolute truth is that from the earnings my own company (60%) and my own savings (40%) I have established a Rs 1 Crore Education Fund under my own family Trust called Glarida Education Fund. The interest proceeds of this fund to be distributed as Scholarship to students of Schools in the neighborhood including Little Flower School and also other charity causes. However, after the hostile behavior of the Godman, the Scholarship to Little Flower School stands suspended.

Thank you for highlighting a neglected ward. Last year I had filed an RTI application asking when the Bejai Bhajana Mandir Road and its various lanes were last repaired, what does the rule say about the period between two successive repairs, what is the amount spent on repairs for the past few years etc. MCC wrote back exactly 30 days later, saying they do not have the figures, are still calculating and will provide the figures as soon as they are ready. When nothing was forthcoming even after two months, I appealed to the Commissioner and was told a hearing would take place. I do not know what was the outcome of that hearing since I did not get any information. Meanwhile as this report reveals some lanes have become lucky while the neglected ones are still waiting. Finally I would like to point out that no ward committee has been formed here till date!

Dear Uncle Lawrence, Yes, this sort of media attention is not surprising at all as it is only when one person knows right in his conscious that he is completely wrong is when they start shouting and start justifying using extraordinary measures like unwanted media attention. This sort of a matter/dispute can be sorted out within 4 walls. But since someone chose to gather the outsider attention, I think it will be right to bring out all the hidden issues as you have mentioned in your first response. First of all, the pictures above show complete disrespect towards the flag and the flag post. Firstly I do not believe that you have done this, so whoever has done such a thing to put it in the rubble, needs to be SEVERELY PUNISHED as THIS is an unlawful act. I am really surprised, that this has not become an issue up until now. Secondly, if there are any doubts being raised as to the where the funds and donations go, those accounts need to be audited and checked. I believe that any donor should make sure that he knows where the funds go. In todays’ world, there is no point of just assuring yourself that your intentions are right. Everyone needs to make sure that someone in need is actually benefiting from your help. Everyone in the village and around know about the hard work you have been putting in to make Kanajar a better place. Right from the school to building a big cricket stadium to encourage students and talented athletes. I don’t see how anyone could even think that someone like you could do anything to harm school property. You have helped so many people and young children since many years. This school was your dream project and was started by you and you trusted upon someone to take this dream forward with good intentions in your heart and so God definitely knows who is wrong here and the truth will come forward very soon. You have the prayers and support and blessings of a lot of people. Keep up the good work uncle and May God bless you abundantly!

Dear friends, It is my strong belief that the truth somehow emerges without having to shout from the hill top. Here, however the Godman has succeeded in temporarily misleading local people and PTA members which is evident from pictures and bunch of lies. I wish to set the record straight on the following: 1. Flag post The flag post was wrongly installed in the middle of entrance which needed to be shifted to another location nearby and therefore it was removed and kept at a safe place. What this Godman did was he brought the Ashoka and immersed in the rubble to take pictures to be published in the media (which you can see above) 2. Donation Rs 1 Crore The Godman has also been spreading the news among the unsuspecting public that I have collected Rs1 Crore from people and did not handover to him which is why the construction of his building has stopped, which is a wholesome lie. The truth is that I have established from my own earnings from the company Rs 1 Crore education fund under my own family trust called Glarida Education Fund, the proceeds of which for distribution to genuine charity causes including Scholarships to deserving students of Schools in the neighborhood including Little Flower School. However, after the hostile conduct of the Godman especially his going to labor court in Kuwait against my company, the goodwill factor did not exist anymore and the Scholarships stand suspended. The fund belongs to me and my family and proceeds are being distributed to intended beneficiaries.

The Republic of India further segregated in the name of religion with reins of British took over by RSS to implement the ‘Bunch of thoughts’ of Guruji’s forcing the minorities to live as second class citizen in their own democratic nation. The Modi’s ‘Gujarat Model’ laid the great foundation stone post Godhra riots during 2002 continued to live its memory in across nation including India’s financial capital denying job or renting a living space. Most of them are crooks and scoundrels and pocket the money. I have personally come across such scoundrels, not only in India, but also Indians abroad and they have no honesty and propriety and involved in many dirty things, which I do not wish to spell here. I do not know the background of the case, but the gentleman should not have dealt with the so-called Godman and holy man. If, one is a slick talker, it is very easy to fool Indians. If one wants to do charity, then the donor should give it directly to the worthy person or to such genuine institutions like Missionaries of Charity.

Ms. Veronica Alva, I will tell you one thing. It is not the question of how honest or corrupt you are, how intelligent or stupid, how selfless or selfish, how industrious or lethargic and I can rattle off. The success of a man depends solely on his kismet and how well he can talk. One may be crook and scoundrel, but if his kismet is good, then wealth will pour from all sides. I have seen many rags to rich stories and after they have achieved wealth they wish to display their wealth and power to the same people who knew what were their state years ago before they got their new found wealth. Then, these people will go to the houses of worship, where the priests will fawn on them and they will pay hefty amounts on religious rites, because they harbour the notion that they can bribe the Almighty God. Who will punish this Godman – is it the law of the land, Almighty God or the public by taking law into their own hands. If I am not mistaken this man’s name is Paulose. Is he a Christian or from some other religion? If he is a Christian, why is he called a Godman and, in that event, he must have hailed from Kerala, because normally Keralite Christians have the name Paulose and not others. Regards, Nelson Lewis

It is a bad exposure to our youth who need to imbibe one of the cardinal principles of democracy i.e responsible dissent, and respect for others views. Speaking out of turn, interrupting someone in the midst of his/her speech, shouting down someone with a dissenting view , are inimical to democracy. It is best that responsible and democratic minded citizens avoid such debates and the media channels that host them

It was an enjoyable evening of hilarious comedy drama “Panyare Avandina”by Cha parka group. No doubt crowd enjoyed each and every moment of the it. Program moved very swiftly without wasting much time in sundry affairs. The trio of Kudla Friends- Yuvaraj Salian, Sooraj Rebello and Srikanth Shetty are doing a marvelous job in entertaining the coastal community of Karnataka. Also they are very popular with the sports they are conducting every year for the community. Wishing them all success in future programs too. Mrs Jaya Shettigar in her report not only mentions about the success of the program , but also reminds us of genuine concern about our social responsibility and values. Kudos to her. Thanks Mangalorean.com for being there always to meet the Tuluvas – in every program they conduct.

True – Fear and ignorance result in hatred. Same way, I should also point out that tolerance of intolerance is cowardice. This cowardice by progressive groups create a political vacuum conveniently filled by religious and other far-right groups. The cowardice does encourage more hate in our society. We don’t have to look too far. Ask yourself a simple question – how many people on this forum spoke against ‘beef ban’ Vs ‘cartoon ban’!!

Original R Pai says, ” Shobhakka, Do us a favour – Please retire from politics and go along with your Yeddy and Reddy”. Dear Paimaam, I can not object when you say (referring to Shobhakka) “your Yeddy” in the above statement. But if you say “your Reddy” in that statement, it is totally wrong. For, Reddys are the adopted children of Sushma Swaraj and till the Reddys were sent to jail, she unfailingly came to their place, conducted “Vara Mahalaxmi Vratam” and took the Prasadam (mining mafia booty) to Delhi, ostensibly to hand over the same to RSS and BJP. From the very day she contested against Mrs. Sonia Gandhi from Ballari and lost the elections, she came into contact with mining mafia. She fostered them during Vajpayee government. Now we have a clean government at Delhi, of BJP and Modi! The very “Mining Mafia Reddy Maataa” Sushma Swaraj is in Modi’s cabinet as Foreign Minister! Modi has made Yeddy of “land mafia and mining mafia” notoriety, the Vice President of BJP! By the by, why Sushma stopped her “Vara Mahalaxmi Vratam”? Was Laxmi too in the prison along with Reddys? She can not even think of worshipping Laxmi without Reddy! Why so?

  • From Lawrence Saldanha on Karkala: Land Owners Damage School Property, PTA demands Action

Dear friends, I am not surprised that the so called Godman has gone to the extent of publishing one sided version to the public and media. The true story on the other hand is the following: – In 2008, I handed over the School (then running 7th std) to Seon Ashram headed by Godman Paulose along with a separate 5 acres of land total worth about Rs 2 Crores, all for free. – To give him enough time to construct his own school building, I leased him the temporary school building and a portion of house on 25 years nominal lease (almost free) – To assist him to run the high school while his building under construction, I rented my commercial hall on 11 month lease again for a nominal rent. Additionally, a kitchen and toilet facility built by me in my own land was provided to temporarily accommodate the staff and student inmates. – All these possessions were given to him on a goodwill basis for a period not exceeding 5 years, which expired in 2013. – In February 2014, he and his son officially informed me that he is finding it difficult to run the School for which I reminded him about the clause in our agreement which requires him to hand over the School to the Diocese of Mangalore (against a goodwill compensation) for which he demanded Rs3.65Crores from the Diocese. – As he was spending KD150/every visit to Kuwait, I had extended him a permanent residence permit in Kuwait for almost 5 years all for free but with his turning hostile, i could not extend this goodwill to him anymore and asked him to cancel against which he went to the labor court in Kuwait to seek release but failed. – As he had not paid any rent for either the house or the School building, sensing difficulty ahead, he went to the court and obtained injunction against disconnection of power and water – Notice to vacate the temporary leased hall to be available for our family function later this year was given to him as early as April 2014 but till February this year, he not only kept challenging me but also shielded students leaving me no option but to seek courts eviction which is in progress. – Kitchen and toilets facilities were built by me on my own land but used by them, needed no permission from anybody to be demolished, likewise, 5 acres land was given to him 7 years ago to build School related utilities which he ignored and continued to use my land for the purpose. The absolute truth is that what was purely my unselfish goodwill generosity turned out to be a disaster in the hands of crooked Godman. He is fooling innocent Mangaloreans by his external looks but the reality is he is out there for a big family business.

There are few good guys in Congress party For example Jayapala, Reddy, Sachin Pilot, Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia including Jayaram Ramesh. Unfortunately they have no future in Congress party. Once upon a time Congress party used to be a true national party. Now it has become a true private limited company owned by the mother and her son. Both mother and son are “indispensable” Rest of the members are like slaves working for the party. The Congress members work and serve in the interests of 2G, for them interests of the nation is the least priority. If that rich girl were to use a new dress day everyday and also were to gift every one, perhaps, hatred would have been diminished? I guess not. Are you sure ignorance is the cause of hatred; I think knowledge is. If such a nation had not known the existence and the usage of oil; the oil owners would not have been hated at all. I could be wrong. However, as you say, “The good earth is rich and can provide for every one”; Yes, the earth has plenty to offer, but people do not know how to share democratically. Some day perhaps! Some receiving containers are larger. In a buffet dinner each one eats stomach full; only the greedy one goes home with a doggy bag. Shame on him! Even the multi billionaire who went to hell could not order an air conditioner; thus no one hated him down there. That’s the Temporary solution. Fascinating points in the article. Have we read somewhere; “The kingdom of God, or my kingdom, is not of this earth”! May be I am wrong.

Looking from tiger’s perspective, how do you know eating meat does not have adverse impact on his health by consuming meat? What if his blood pressure goes up? What if he gets colon cancer by eating beef daily? May be tigers are dying by the age of 20 because they eat too much meat. Perhaps they may live up to 80 if they abstained. Original Duplicate Pai asks, “@Pincode Pai – I do not know why you keep on posting here when every post of yours has only one agenda of blaming every thing on RSS and BJP?” Paimaam, there are two reasons. Sir, first and foremost, you must deny the blames and explain the facts. Instead, you only attack me. why? I have made only true accusations and not false propaganda, as always done by you and your RSS! Just do one thing – that is, please tell which of the allegations made by me is false and explain why. However, the RSS made blatantly false allegations and repeated the same for scores of years since 1925. People believed the RSS like the Germans believed Nazi Hitler’s publicity maverick Josef Goebbels! RSS repeatedly levelled the following false allegations for scores of years and it has resulted in the present generation believing the same to be gospel truth. Read the following and say whether every BJP sympathiser believes blindly the following false allegations or not. 1) RSS said Gandhi was anti Hindu and pro-Muslims and RSS. Therefore, Hindu Mahasabha’s Savarkar encouraged his elimination. 2) RSS said Nehru got India partitioned and and put Subhas Chandra Bose in the Soviet Jail to become the Prime Minister of India. 3) RSS said Nehru got Jana Sangh’s founding president Dr. Shamprasad Mukherji got killed by administering slow poison to him, making Sheik Abdullah of Kashmir a tool to do so. 4) Jan Sangh said its president Deen Dayal Upadhyaya was got killed by Congress in Mughalsarai Railway station. 5) RSS said that Lal Bahadur Shastri was got killed by the Indira Gandhi at Tashkent by using the then Soviet President Alexei Kosygin to get him killed. Sir, I will give many more instances once you answer my above questions.

They do all kinds of job, cleaning, sweeping, mopping the floor, including cleaning toilets. No one calls them cleaner or a sweeper. Most of them take student loan. They do not depend on parents for paying uni fee and other expenses, Life long we Indians will call this girl as a maid. Karnataka education board with their blunders in question papers and the subsequent grace mark solution has ruined the reputation of the state. High time the board is re-structured with stringent rules and buck-stopping accountability. Only when the heads roll at the top, do we see any change in the system. If there were erroneous questions amounting to 15 marks, instead of granting 15 grace marks to all exam takers, they could disregard those error questions altogether and evaluate the paper against a total of 85 marks and then convert it to percentage. That would be a relatively fair system to the honest students. I would like too call it “Duckworth-Lewis” of SSLC.

Great article. Author has mentioned the name of Mr Ivan D’Souza as someone who could help in the matter. Politicians make many claims and we believe them. But I doubt if Mr D’Souza is useful in the case of Passport service. Passport service is provided by the Central Government. So, if I am not mistaken, the state government can have almost no influence on how the service is provided. This is the kind of tussle that is currently going in Delhi between Kejriwal and the Central Government. I think a Central MP can perhaps do something when it comes to Passports, but not a State MLA/MLC. So, do not waste time in making requests to a State MLA/MLC for improvement in Passport service.

    • From B. N. Pai on Saudi girl shocks family by falling in love with Indian expat

Jay:Is shocked at the double standards practiced by Saudi People! What about we, Indians, condemning love jehad by all others, except by people RSS wants to be exempted? Example: 1. The Minister in Vajpayee cabinet and now in Modi cabinet, Mukhtar Abbas Naqui’s wife was a Hindu girl by name Seema. He forcibly converted her to Islam. Example 2. Minister in Vajpayee’s cabinet and a prominent Muslim leader of the BJP, Mr. Shahnavaz Hussain married a Brahmin girl, Renu Sharma, after converting her to Islam! Example 3. Late Mr. Sikanda Bakth, BJP Vice president and Vajpayee appointed Governor of Kerala too was a “Love Jehaadee”, who married a Hindu girl after converting her to Islaam. RSS HAS HONOURED ONLY LOVE JEHADEES AS MINISTERS IN THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT AND NOT ANY OTHER SIMPLE AND GOOD INDIAN MUSLIM. IS THIS NOT DOUBLE STANDARD BY RSS AND BJP? WHY THE RSS IS SILENT ABOUT SUHASINI HAIDAR, DAUGHTER OF RSS LEADER, SUBRAMANYA SWAMI?

  • From Anand Dsilva on Mangaluru: Got Patience! For it will be a 'Long Wait' to get your Job done at Local Passport Office

Alfie, I don’t know how you can write on vast topics that catch the attention of readers like me. I cant help but leave a comment every time. About 3 years back when coming on vacation a immigration officer pointed that my PP is damaged and I need to get a replacement. This was updated in their system when coming to India and there was no way I could go back until I renewed the PP. Since there is a PP office in Mangalore I thought it may not be a problem. One thing is that most problems can get resolved in the PP office instead of relying on the H.O. in Bangalore. Bad thing is the system or mechanism that is in place. I saw lot of people lined up outside typing centres to get an appointment. It has to be online. For those who do not know to operate computers have to rely on these centres. Secondly the system inside the PP office is quite good but in case if you want to enquire something there is no information desk but you have to rely on a small window outside on the right side of the building. So when you have modern facilities to come and sit inside this window where people have to bend and wait and ask questions again seems we are back in the 70s. Computer appointments and Window information cannot go hand in hand. The practice of window answering must be put to an end as it is uncivilized and there should be separate customer service room where people can come inside and resolve their issues face to face. I was forced to go to Bangalore and the situation there is actually much worse than Mangalore. Once you address a problem on a sheet of paper you are allowed inside. There are about 10 counters to inquire about your problem and trust me these 10 counters send all the people to just one counter where a struggling lady has to address the problem one by one. (it must the opposite actually where one counter must send people to 10 counters). This poor lady was helpful and promised she would sort out the issue in 5 days and kept my papers on her desk but since there was no reply after 2 weeks I was impatient and when I returned there I couldn’t believe that my papers were on her desk the same way I left earlier. Anyway she got it done quickly. I honestly believe to address these issues we do not require interference of politicians as bureaucrats in the respective field must take a lead and address these issues.

Dear readers, When PM Modi can’t understand the meaning between M-R-S Sirisena and Mrs.Sirisena, what can we expect from this shining government? When we don’t have decent ‘Forensic lab’ to investigate late Mrs. Taroor wife death or Talwars daughter, how does one will ascertain Varha or Gomatha? The majority appeasement law which passed under pretext of agrarian Bovine, is the sole purpose of hitting Muslim minorities economically hard. How does GoMath can be fit for exports but banned for domestic use? Why does it doesn’t become Matha in BJP ruled Goa and rest of its ruling state? Why the ban doesn’t take tall on Hindu Beef exporters but innocents targeted by Go Rakshasks? Jai Hind Jai Hind

it would be an embarrassing attempt to take a dig a Pradhaana sevaka of RSS- Atheist Mr.Original Pai Sir, BJP president Amit Shah has said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statements during the Lok Sabha election campaign that Rs 15 lakh will be deposited in the bank accounts of all Indians once the black money is recovered was a political ‘jumla’ (idiom). They fooled voters by promising 15 lakh by opening 10 crores accounts with zero balance. Only 33% of Modi Bhakathas believed in this story and voted in masses. But less than year later ‘Jumla’ cost them dear in Delhi. The party of difference hanged pictures of former BJP president Bangaru Laxman was caught counting wads of notes and saying “Paisa khuda toh nahi lekin khuda ki kassam khuda se kam bhi nahi” that he had accepted from a Tehelka reporter who was posing as an arms dealer in return for hiring the latter’s company to supply hand-held thermal imagers to the Indian Army. • From B. N. Pai on 'Ravi called woman batchmate only once on day of his death'

Mr. Mango asks, “where is Kumbla” and adds “He had so many theories and grievances about D.K.Ravi.” Yes, what was revealed was about 44 miscalls by Ravi, apart from the received call made by him, which was received only once. As stated by the counterpart and her husband in the court asking the court for giving an order not to reveal the details of investigations about the calls made, the details of the miscalls made was admitted in that case. It was also stated that the counterpart in the call chided saying that she is married having a child and opposing the request to fulfill his desire. She even asked, ” Are you kidding?” Having opposed that suggestion, all subsequent calls were not responded and hence and they all became miscalls! The CBI intentionally avoids about the number of miscalls made by Ravi to her. What makes the CBI to give these partial details, without giving the full details? The CBI is not supposed to give any half baked details at this stage of inquiry, unless it is politically motivated to do so to please their present political bosses! That is why Modi had called CBI as the Congress Bureau of investigation then. The only difference is that it has become the BJP Bureau of Investigation, now.

These dysfunctional ministers are accustomed to loose talks and used to get away with it in the past for lack of media coverage. Their habits are hard to change. Instead, the voting public should get rid-off them as they lack basic training and upbringing needed to think and talk wisely and their irrational and uncultured behavior make them unfit to serve the growing and educated masses of India.

The whole revelation of the preliminary report sounds like a political press release. No actual sources, but a collective noun of CBI. Surely the matter will go to the court and the details will be provided. But right now it is no more than political point scoring. There is much more to the case than meets the eye.

In any country when a law is based on religious percepts it is subject to abuse by lawmakers and their upholders as and when they like for their personal benefit. For instance, there is a law in Dubai that if you want to drink alcohol even in bars you need to have a permit. People are ignorant and there are plethora of bars where people continue to drink without permit. But, those who want to seek revenge with any person personally can invoke this law and harass his enemy. People do this everywhere and play their cards in order to victimize others. Therefore when a law is made it is essential to determine whether it can be used as a tool to misuse it. I always wondered if beef ban comes into force it can be used by some fanatics to settle some old scores or just to harass the other person to maintain supremacy.

Dear Anand D’Silva, you observed, “when a law is made, it is essential to determine whether it can be used as a tool to misuse it”. Sir, the law is specifically drafted and crafted to be misused! The beef tallow and lard were used in 1856-57 by the Hindu kings on the one hand and the Mughals and Nawabs on the other to forge Hindu-Muslim unity and wage “Sipoy Mutiny” to fight against the British. Bahadur Shah Zafar as the “Badshah of Hindistan” by the Hindu rulers involved in the mutiny and Bhagawa Dhwaj was Hoisted in the Red. So, beef was a tool to forge Hindu -Muslim unity then! Now, the RSS wants to use the same to divide the Hindus and Muslims to create and to retain the “Hindu Majoritarin vote bank”! When Nehru was the Prime Minister and Gulzarilaal Nanda was the Home Minister of India, a massive rally of “Nanga Sadhus” was staged by the RSS in the streets of Delhi! PERSEVERANCE PAYS, THEY SAY. The is RSS doggedly bent on dividing the Hindus and the minority religions to come to power and to perpetuate it.

These so-called cops may not be cops at all. Many Gulf passengers have experienced the stopping of buses at some of these locations, and cops/custom officers appearing and playing delaying tactics. At this the driver/conductor also put pressure on the hapless passenger to pay the money. It appears to me that the drivers/conductors of buses get their share of the bribe from the passengers by the fake cops.

Psychosocial factor is an important component of chronic back pain. Underlying degeneration is the other factor. Both cannot be cured. Above mentioned treatment is only for a temporary relief and not a cure. It works on the basis of placebo effect or “Gate theory effect”.

Many jokes circulate about these doctors in Bombay during social gatherings. Anyway if they can cure some external problems nothing wrong in trying after all we all have to experience life.
